The author of Blood on Silk brings readers the next novel in her seductive new Awakened by Blood series.
Months after her dangerous encounter with the vampire overlord Saloman, Scottish academic Elizabeth Silk is still trying to cope with both the demands of her vampire-hunting bloodline-and the desire she feels for Saloman, the immortal she brought back from the grave. But when Saloman's ancient sword becomes the object of a ruthless race between humans and vampires, Elizabeth must decide between unwanted loyalty, or unholy love.
Marie Treanor lives in Scotland with her eccentric husband and three much-too-smart children. Having grown bored with city life, she resides these days in a picturesque village by the sea where she is lucky enough to enjoy herself avoiding housework and writing sensual stories of paranormal romance and fantasy.

I have to say, the more I blog the more surprised I seem to get with each book I read. I really lived a very sheltered life within my world of books, I usually didn't go outside of my favorite authors and was quite happy to stay there, and then one day I finished the book I was reading and went to my shelf to get another and low and behold every obsessed readers nightmare.........my shelf was empty lol. I didn't have anymore books to read. So I said to myself "Away to the Internet to see if one of my favorite authors has released anything new for me to buy". So off I go to the Sony ebook store and found some good books and happened to look at one of the reviews, which took me to the Goodreads website, which got me talking to some bloggers which brought me to having my own blog, which totally got me reading way outside of anything I usually read.
I have to say I have never been so happy. I would not have had the absolute privilege of a lot of very amazing authors. So here I am blogging as part of a book tour for Bewitching Book Tours and again I have found another amazing series that I am proud to recommend. So now that I have babbled on about my journey to this point lol (sorry lol) I will share my thoughts on this wonderful series.
Since I have read all three books, I am going to review as a whole set instead of individually :) So to start with, we have two main characters which absolutely drew me right into their story, you can the pull and attraction they are fighting, especially since they are meant to kill each other. Marie does an incredible job at making you FEEL the attraction they have for each other. In the second book you see Saloman and him being so stubborn in not sharing his feelings for Elizabeth, and she keeps denying him, but also her loyalty of her feeling for Saloman, and so it carries on to the third book as Elizabeth gets somewhat obsessed with Saloman. It truly is a great love story you wont want to miss out on.
All three books are superbly well written, I was hooked from book one and couldn't turn the pages fast enough to get to book two, well if I wasn't hooked from the first book I was with the second and on to book three I went, I love Marie's writing style, it just flows so smoothly, she takes you right into their worlds with such description I almost felt like I was right there. The whole story is such a refreshing new story line and so exciting from page one to the end and into the next book and then the third, my advice is to make sure you have all three books when you start reading or you will find your self at the book store minutes before it closes to get the next one.
Now if I say anymore I will be giving away and spoil the story for you all and we all know how much I hate doing that to anyone, so I will be finished now and just say, go to the store now or online and order your set of this amazing series, I cannot wait for the next book. Enjoy everyone, I know I did.
Saloman’s strength is increasing and he’s forging new alliances. He’s now ready to face the future and to bring all the vampires together. Nothing and no one will stand in his way. Even more so when he’s made up his mind to get his possessions back.
Nothing and no one except a beautiful, intelligent woman who still doesn’t trust him even if she’s crazy in love with him.
Elizabeth is ready to fight everyone to keep her relatives alive and out of the reach of Saloman. She is stronger now, trained to face any danger. Oh, but the greatest danger has nothing to do with the vampires trying to get to her and kill the Awakener who brought their greatest fear back to life.
There’s so much going on at this point in both Saloman and Elizabeth’s lives and many things are changing.
He is changing. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still an arrogant, condescending, cruel bastard but with Elizabeth he’s different. She’s changing him in unexpected ways but, at the same time, he’s changing her.
The chase for stolen artifacts will forge new alliances, break old friendships and strengthen bonds. The future is still uncertain for Saloman and Elizabeth and they still have a long way to go and many more challenges to face that will either bring them together forever or finally drive them apart.
You just have to keep reading to find out but it will be worth it.
The gripping whirlwind of a forbidden romance between Ancient vampire, Saloman and his human Awakener, Elizabeth continues in Marie Treanor's second installment of the Awakened by Blood series. Blood Sin is rich in landscape, full of delicious vampire sex, and brimming with desperate emotion, which makes it as good as—and in my opinion, even more enjoyable than—the first book that originally subjected us to the two lovers.
Elizabeth knows she shouldn't. Months after parting from Saloman after a very wild, very wicked last night together, she knows she shouldn't involve herself in his search by the vampire hunters to whom she has so gratefully allied herself—and yet she does. The hunters are still unaware of her fleeting, but still intense relationship with Saloman, but in the turmoil of the manhunt—or, shall we say, vampire-hunt—her hidden loyalties may soon falter and even worse, be exposed. The quest brings her to America—New York, New York—where she seeks out a distant relative who has what he thinks is a family heirloom, but actually may be Saloman's most prized possession, but her visit may hinder the hunters' plans to put Saloman to rest once and for all.
Saloman, having thrived since his awakening, doesn't necessarily want to harm anyone, but he does want his sword back. He'll do everything in his strength to attain his highly coveted weapon, and isn't afraid to kill anyone who gets in the way. But of course, the biggest barricade happens to be the sweet, compassionate Elizabeth Silk; apparently the hunters are not the only ones whose agendas will be destroyed.
The evolution of Elizabeth's relationship with Saloman is amazing. Readers are exposed to more ardent, more complicated aspects to Saloman that make Elizabeth fall in love with him even more, and these harrowing truths are what fuel her wrongdoings. At once tender and emotionally brutal, the romance that we first became enchanted with in Blood on Silk displays its darker, more mesmerizing side, and for Elizabeth, and for readers, there is no going back.
Treanor's writing style, as always, is a treat: delightfully droll, expressive, and wholly sentimental. She perfectly captures the pain of parting onto paper, and her descriptions are great for further characterization and emotional buildup. I love the new auxiliary characters we meet in this book. Even the villains, as despicable as they are, are well-developed and realistic.
As Elizabeth's power grows, she must face the hard, cold reality that her old, dully intellectual life will never be the same again. As much as she promises herself never to ally with evil, she also must face the pleasing yet disturbing fact that she and Saloman make a kickass team—a powerful, passionate team—which is exactly what Saloman wants to convince her of. As the mistress of the most powerful vampire in the world, there are certain risks that come her way... what will it take to bring her to her senses that she and Saloman ultimately will be each other's ruin?
The impossibility of Elizabeth's concerns probes the conscience, demonstrating the very human, very real affinity towards being wicked, even though there's nothing more than good at heart. Emotionally wrecking one moment, and fiercely erotic the next, the continuation of Elizabeth's search for herself, her lover, and ultimately, her position in the light, is a scintillating, fascinating escape.
The main reason I don't give this one a full 10 hearts is because there was one looming aspect that I could have done without: the heightened idealization of the vampires. Every time I was introduced to new vamps, I found myself thinking Aren't there any unattractive vampires around? Any unique, humbled powers? The telepathy is one thing, but the animalistic speed, the power over the natural elements, and the inability to ever get dirty (because, you know... vampires never sweat. They're too pristine and beautiful and etc. etc.) are a little too much—definitely annoying and Twilight-esque. I would have liked to see a little more originality and a little more grit within the otherwise stunning creatures Treanor created.
In the end, the secret of the almighty sword is revealed, but not before embarking readers on a thrilling, carnal ride full of vampire fights, mass murders, and emotional breakdowns first. The chilling realization that our terrifying and beloved Saloman is capable of feelings more profound than any human has ever known, is toxic for Elizabeth, but completely crucial for their unfeasible but ever-kindling fire.
Pros: A deeper, darker, and more thrilling branching from the first book // Lots of baring to Saloman's fascinating character // Hot, hot, HOT // Elizabeth and Saloman's relationship flourishes off of more than just lust // Dilemma of Elizabeth's loyalties are agonizing // Familiar and evocative European backdrop, but also a fresh American setting // New secondary characters, such as Josh Alexander, are sweet, human relief! // Continual witty dialogue // Monumental climax // Bittersweetly romantic
Cons: I hate how Elizabeth is so independent, but pathetically weak in Saloman's sexual presence. Get a grip, girl! // Vampires wayyy too glamorized—even more so than in Blood Sin
Love: I've plenty of quotes I picked out! You know I hate choosing favorites:
[Elizabeth] knew it would be a mistake to [get involved with Saloman] all over again, and she knew that when they met, she'd have to be strong enough to assure him of that. And yet she couldn't prevent the surge of excitement, of pure hunger just to talk to him, just to be in his arms for one more minute.
Well, if she was honest, the hunger went well beyond a minute in his arms, but she couldn't, she really couldn't afford to be that honest.
"I can't work out," [Elizabeth] said, "whether I'm perverse, or the world is."— what I ask myself everyday LOL!
Another night of bliss with Saloman. There had never been more than one night at a time before this, and she was aware of the danger as she writhed under him, dragging at his clothes and wriggling to feel all of him against her desperate body. She was sinking deeper into the darkness and it felt increasingly like light.— this one gave me shivers.
He stood under the café light, dressed in black, with his hair loose around his shoulders, glistening with moisture. Raindrops trickled down his forehead, trembled on his full, sensual lips. Shadows lurked in the deep hollows of his cheeks. His opaque dark eyes held secrets she never wanted to learn. And many, so many, that she did.— have you fallen in love with Saloman yet?
Verdict: Blood Sin is indeed a sinful trek through steamy sex, a high-risk chase, and the morally exhausting complications Elizabeth must confront. Marie Treanor expertly brings her characters and scenery to life, which is bound to make readers writhe in arousal and fall in love all over again. A fresh paranormal pursuit and the wicked tug-of-war game for power divulges Saloman's greatest, familiarly human weakness: the ability to feel, and the capacity to love. A satisfying, addicting sequel for fans of the first story in the series, Blood Sin will not disappoint
9 out of 10 hearts: Loved it! This book has a spot on my favorites shelf.

Elizabeth Silk has spent the last sixth months trying to figure out what hew recently discovered vampire hunting background means to her life as well as dealing with her feeling for Saloman. She's fine-tuning her thesis and teaching at St. Andrews University, but at night she's left to overthink and contemplate all things Saloman. To try and curb her endless thinking of Saloman, she's contacting Tsigana descendants in hopes of warning them of the Saloman threat. She didn't expect her distant cousin, movie star Josh Alexander, to have the one item that would make him Saloman's target. She's made it her job to protect Josh, at all costs, against the man she loves.
Saloman has been very busy the past six months. He's worked very hard to become the overlord of most of the European and South American vampires. He now has his sights on two things: having the American vampires fall under his rule and getting back his sword, which is currently in one Josh Alexander's possession. He finds the perfectly opportunity to snatch it back when he's invited to a weekend party at the vacation home of Senator Dante Greyson in Scotland.
The Senator has managed to coerce Josh to bring the sword with him to the party, under the guise of having is appraised. But he has more in mind for that sword. He needs the sword of the great Ancient Saloman in his bid for ultimate power.
Elizabeth and Saloman must now work together to find out why Dante wants the sword so badly, all while Elizabeth tries her hardest to protect her cousin from meeting the end of Saloman's pointy incisors and help the hunters ensure Saloman doesn't possess the sword.
I really, really enjoyed this installment in the series. We found a depth to both characters that we didn't see if the first book. Elizabeth struggles with her feelings for Saloman and all the things that he's working for that go against her way of thinking. While she tries very hard to sway his way of thinking, she can't help but fall more and more in love with him, while hating herself a little bit more knowing he'll never feel for her the way she feels for him. She's almost reminded me of an abuse victim, who knows what's going on is wrong and knows she should break away, but just can't seem to do it. It's a little heartbreaking.
Saloman is still the smug, arrogant bastard that he was in Blood on Silk, but we start to see cracks in that foundation. Sure he still wants world domination, but he also starts teaching vampires to live a different way of life (such as you can drink from a human, but you don't need to kill them). His ultimate goal is for both humans and vampires to co-exist as they did a millennium ago. You can see that part of Elizabeth's initial arguments with him have made him changed his course, while still doing what he wants. But Elizabeth is never far from his thoughts. He's not sure why he feels for her the way he does (and he does compare the other woman he's slept with in the past six months to her), but she's a distraction he's willing to play with again.
Both characters seem to realize there is something about the other, no matter how much they themselves may object or their friends to their relationship, that keeps drawing them together. It's finally Elizabeth who decides Saloman is worth fighting for...no matter what.
A superb addition to the series which sets us up perfectly for the finale book, Blood Eternal.
Blood Sin (Awakened by Blood, Book #2) by Marie Treanor
Genre: Paranormal Romance | Fantasy | Historic
Even if you walk in the light, you can dwell in the dark. Months after her dangerous encounter with vampire overlord Salaman, Scottish academic Elizabeth Silk is still trying to cope with both the demands of her ancestral bloodline -- which marks her as a vampire hunter -- and the overpowering desire she feels for the immortal she brought back from the grave. But she is not alone is her fascination with Saloman. When Elizabeth tracks down a distant cousin from America, she learns he possesses an antique sword that has caused the interest of the Grand Master of the American hunters. It is the ancient and mystical sword of Saloman -- a treasure of vast occult powers and a price beyond meausre to both vampires and humans. Now the race is one on for possession of the sword. Even as her enemies and allies shift their allegiances and battle for supremacy, Elizabeth must decide which will rule her own perilous fate: unwanted loyalty or unholy love.
Having thought that her disastrous blunder with being "The Awakener" was over, Elizabeth continues to be consumed daily by emotional feelings and haunted nightly by erotic dreams of her last visit with Solaman, the ancient vampire currently let loose and gaining tremendous power in the modern world. Trying to distract herself from wicked wayward thoughts, Elizabeth joins the under-ground Hunter society to uncover any modern living descendants that share the same blood heritage as herself, in hopes of equally saving them from Solaman's slaying and preventing Solaman from gaining any more strength. Yet, when one of the descendants ends up being a famous American actor, who happens to be in Scotland shooting a movie and has a strange connection to Solaman's long-lost sword, Elizabeth considers herself fortunate for once ... until her path crosses with Adam Simon. Now, it appears that the tables have turned and the most dangerous figure of all is someone human with dark desires to join Solaman's mission. Can Elizabeth convince Solaman to rejoin forces without throwing her own life back into jeopardy and save the world from an even darker/more powerful immortal creation?
Things just get juicer and juicer for Elizabeth and Solaman. As much as they push each other away physically, they are oddly drawn back together emotionally due to uncontrollable forces - which makes this a fascinatingly spontaneous romantic read. Their relationship is quite electrically charged and any unexpected interactions between the two really add sparks to the overall story. The new character additions (i.e. Senator Dante Greyson and American actor/cousin Josh Alexander) really added another level of intrigue to Elizabeth's muddled world. Lots of Scenery changes compares to Book #1 as well, so, on the whole, be prepared for plenty of passionate adventures, unbelievable vampire/historical myths, and a wild treasure hunt. Bring on Book #3 - Blood Eternal !!
Likes: The "Adam Simon" party interactions were brilliant and I thoroughly enjoy them.
Dislikes: Elizabeth's close friendship with Mihaela comes off as forced to me and, in my opinion, was created for the sole purpose that Elizabeth could have a close character as the voice of reason throughout much of the Awakened by Blood series.
I have found myself totally taken by Saloman, the hero of this series by Marie Treanor. His arrogance is in the stratosphere. His sensuality shoots beyond the stars. His aspirations to take over the world, to take care of those inferior humans, has Elizabeth up in arms, causing her dilemma of loving the crazy vampire or staking him to assure free will and independence aren’t excised from humanity. Neither are easy goals to have.
When Saloman saunters back into her life, Elizabeth is ecstatic, sure he has come for her. But she soon learns that isn’t the case. The exasperating man hasn’t given in one iota when it comes to his driving need to take over so he can rule his way. Thrown into the mix this time is a power-hungry senator who wants immortality, a distant cousin of Elizabeth’s who’s on Saloman’s revenge list, and an ancient sword that holds untold influence and is the topic of a dangerous ownership battle. Josh, Elizabeth’s cousin, believes the sword is his since his family has safeguarded it for eons. Senator Dante wants it only for what it can give him. But it’s Saloman who is determined to have it in his hands once again for his own reasons.
The sword is stolen and the race is on to find out if it will eventually be used for good or ill. Saloman makes his way to America to confront those vampires against him, asking Elizabeth to accompany him to continue their recently found camaraderie in battle, but Elizabeth goes with the understanding she’s searching for Josh only. Spending time with Saloman is a dream come true, however, and she’s living for the moment every night they spend together. Even Saloman begins to look forward and cherish those homey times, thinking he could live in this way the rest of his forever.
Twists and turns are woven throughout, just as in the first book. Saloman is always unpredictable. He’s the only one who knows what he’ll do and what’s in store for him, making his own fate. Except when it comes to Elizabeth. She’s not sure she’d want immortality if he asks, but she does want to be asked. I, of course, want her to go for it, be with her vampire into eternity. Darn her morals and principles! I was hoping by the end of this book Saloman and Elizabeth would have come together more. Their few times together are intense and sizzling, but I want more. Now. So it’s going to be interesting to see what Ms. Treanor has for us in the next book when it comes to these two.
Though we do have to wait for that last book and we’re left hanging again, it’s the epilogue and the excerpt that follows that gives a snippet to keep our interest and anticipation high. I have a feeling explosiveness is an understatement at what will happen next. But how I’m looking forward to it.
Marie Treanor is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She has a wonderful writing style. It has an interesting historical feel and when I read her words, I can see the richness and beauty of the locations she describes. Her stories are so much more than mere romance novels, they are a sexy, intense and intriguing mythological adventure.
Elizabeth Silk has been working as a temporary professor at a college in her home town. As much as she applies herself to her craft, she is lonely and heartbroken over her brief trist with the ancient vampire, Saloman. She knows it does no good to dwell on relationship that can never be; but, she cannot escape thoughts of him. When bodies of victims who stem from her bloodline are found she feels she must contact a movie star cousin, Josh Alexander she has yet to meet. She must warn him that he may be next in line. Of course, Josh thinks Elizabeth is beautiful but bonkers. Yet, he invites her on a plush dinner with a powerful and conniving U.S. Senator who has rented a house in England. Little does she know that the trip will propel her back into danger and back into the arms of Saloman.
Josh possess a secret. He has been entrusted with the family's antique sword. He knows that Senator Dante lusts for it like a junkie craves crack. But he is ignorant as to just how far he will go to get it. After the sword is stolen. Josh and the Senator returns to New York. Elizabeth and Saloman team up to go after the sword and discover thwart the Senator's attempt at immortality and power. Elizabeth and Saloman have opposing aims but they lead to the same destination. In the end, Elizabeth will have to betray the man she loves and will this bring an end to both her life as well as their love?
I just loved this story and how the mysteries are ever unfolding. I especially enjoy seeing the growth in all of the characters. Thanks to Saloman's prompting, Elizabeth no longer views the world in black and white and with the guidance of Elizabeth, Saloman is able to see the value in mercy. What is so compelling about this series is that Marie Treanor writes vampires the way they should be written. They are not fluffy bunnies that can be trained to the wims of humans, they are evil and do no apologize for being so. This is what makes this series so interesting. The reader truly does not know just who the bad guy really is: human or vamp?
If you are looking for something new and different, definitely give the Awakened by Blood series a try. You will not regret it.
Blood Sin Elizabeth has made it her mission to track down, warn and save all Tsigana’s descendants in order to keep Saloman from killing them. This quest brings Elizabeth to Josh, a very distant relative of Tsigana in turn a very distant cousin of Elizabeth’s. Intrigued by her, Josh invites her to a party at the senator’s house. Dante is a close friend of Josh’s and wants more than anything to buy a family air loom of his, a rare old sword "The sword of Saloman" to Elizabeth’s surprise Saloman is at this party.
Finding Saloman’s sword and Dante’s purpose for why he wants it, puts Saloman and Elizabeth fighting on the same side. She is still torn between her loving, longing and needing Saloman and her loyalty to the hunters. Elizabeth must play both sides for the good of the world, but in the end she is going to have to betray one side or the other. She can only hope it will not cost her, her life.
I extremely enjoy the story line Marie has put together in this series. This second book is equally as good as the first if not better. I love the refreashing new story. I love the way Saloman is the perfect bad guy but in reality he is not the bad guy at all. He is old school sexy and powerful. His stubbornness to show Elizabeth exactly how he feels about her is a bit frustrating. You want to just yell at him and tell him to explain what he has been doing with the other vampires, so she can see his good deeds. But I know it’s part of his charm. You can't help but love Saloman.
Elizabeth also frustrates me at times. It’s hard to see how she can deny Saloman, but at the same time it makes her a better character because of that strength. I love her loyalty to her feelings for Saloman. I know most authors would have tossed in another love interest to make it more complicated, but Marie keeps Elizabeth too focused on Saloman to see any other love interest and that makes me happy. I wouldn't want to see her with anyone else. Even at the times when Elisabeth knew she could never be with Saloman she still never had eyes for anyone else and I felt that was a great part of the story.
The story is exciting from start to finish. It is a refreshingly new story line it keeps you on your toes just waiting to see what will happen next. I am excited to read the next installment, I hope that Saloman and Elizabeth can work together in this next book that would make it all the better. **Athenna**
Blood Sin by Marie Treanor Paranormal Romance – April 5th, 2011 4 1/2 stars
After the heroine’s heart was broken by Saloman, Elizabeth Silk struggles to put her life back together. She works part-time at the university where she’s pursuing her PhD and also helps out with the vampire hunters. While aiding the vampire hunters she tracks down her cousin Josh Alexander. She intends to warn him about Saloman when she discovers that Josh possessed Saloman’s sword. Because she knows that Saloman will stop at nothing to get it back. But will she be able to stop Saloman and save her cousin?
After his encounter with Elizabeth, Saloman began his quest to conquer the world by bringing all the vampires under his dominance. Seeking to extend his will across North America, he encounters Elizabeth while she is protecting/hanging around Josh. When they meet, the passion between the two of them still burns powerfully. But Elizabeth must make a difficult decision. Will she ally herself with her own kind or risk everything for love?
I simply loved Treanor’s first book, Blood on Silk, and was excited to read Blood Sin. Although Blood Sin’s pace is a bit slower, it does not disappoint. The soul of the series is Elizabeth and the underpinning conflict. Will the heroine choose love or loyalty? In the second book, she continues in her struggles to overcome her love for Saloman and stick to her beliefs. After all, he is a villain who uses his powers of persuasion to take over the world. He believes that only under his rule can humans do better. No villain is scarier than one who believes whole-heartedly in his agenda. And yet, I couldn’t help but wonder, can she change his mind and bring him to the good side?
The only quarrel I have with the second book is that I would really like to see more of Saloman’s thoughts or his point of view. Up till this point, we only understand Elizabeth, but Saloman is still an enigma. How can we fully understand Elizabeth’s love for him if we don’t know him well enough? I don’t really know what makes Saloman tick. It will be interesting to read more about him in the third book.
If you enjoyed Blood Silk, you must keep going with Blood in Sin. This book definitely has me pumped up for the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed this installment in this wonderful story. The world building, twists and turns are so exciting and wonderful. You have a hard time putting this book down. You move from one thrilling moment to another and you never know what Saloman is going to do next. He is unpredictable, mysterious, sexy and powerful! Elizabeth doesn't want to have feelings for him and wants him to remain an enemy but but she is so totally sick with love for him and can't let go of that.
Elizabeth wants to know that she means something to him....more than just a one night stand here and there. Dmitriu tells her she is more to him....she is a companion and thus she means more to him than anyone. He tells her to be prepared for when he offers immortality. something none of his many lovers through the ages have been offered. Saloman knows her is torn between him and the hunters. He knows she is conflicted over his priority to bring vampirism into the light and her fearing the power Saloman will wield once that happens...she feels she must fight him to protect humanity but part of her wants to stand at his side.
As his awaken-er she finds her self in a couple dirty fights and Saloman is there fighting along side her. Each kill brings her more power...ability. And a very diabolical Senator wants to be turned by being killed by Saloman's sword while reborn with one of Saloman's children. It is said that this way the new fledgling will have greater power than Saloman and can ultimately rule over all vampires and humans.
This novels is about the truth of Saloman's sword....it is about loyalty, friendship, about Saloman gaining allies and Elizabeth giving into her feelings, exposing her actions to the hunters. Finally it is about Saloman and Elizabeth trying to make sense of their relationship and emotional bond to decide if they are truly lovers or enemies? Or both?
Really great Series, hard to put down. Such a great story, dialog, great characters and killer epilogue: Can't wait for the final third of this story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This second novel in the series is just as engaging and compelling as the first.
This follow-up novel revolves around the legendary Sword of Saloman that was used to kill Saloman over 300 years ago. It has been passed down through the descendants of the human killers (Tsigana & Ferenc) and is coveted by those believing it holds special powers.
Fearing for all the descendants of Tsigana and Ferenc, Elizabeth tracks down as many as she can to warn them of the danger they face at the hands of Saloman. Her mission brings her to a distant cousin, Josh, who currently has inherited the legendary Sword of Saloman. Josh knows there is something unusual about the sword; however, he is unaware of the extent of its powers. Despite very lucrative offers he refuses to sell it knowing it must stay in the family.
The sword is stolen and a hunt ensues to find it before it can be used for evil. Since the hunters and Saloman both want to recover the illustrious sword from his enemies, Elizabeth and Saloman make an uneasy alliance to find the sword together.
We see more of the sensual and red-hot love story that is Elizabeth and Saloman. Still on opposing sides in the dominance for power, Elizabeth still sides with the vampire hunters in their quest to rid the world of vampires, while Saloman still seeks to rule the world (both vampire and human). That hasn’t changed nor has their love for each other.
Saloman is the perfect bad boy hero we love and fear at the same time. Not truly good or evil, he captures our hearts and stirs our souls. Elizabeth loves Saloman whole-heartedly and is beginning to understand him, however, she is still uncertain whether they can have a future together given their differences. Their relationship grows in this novel and their bond strengthens.
The epilogue leaves us wondering if Elizabeth’s ideals will endanger everyone she loves?
My Final View:
My opinion is that this novel is a great addition to this series and includes a major bad boy hero, a strong-willed heroine, and the demented actions in a villain’s quest for immortality. I look forward to the next in the series (Blood Eternal)
Blood Sin is the second book in the Awakened By Blood series by Marie Treanor and a Paranormal Romance from Signet Eclipse.
Book Blurb:

My thoughts:
Elizabeth Silk has returned to Scotland with a completed thesis. She is now waiting to find out if it is good enough to garner her a PhD.
Ever mindful of the promise she made to the vampire hunters in Romania, Elizabeth is trying to contact her American cousin, Josh, to warn him of the danger he is in simply because of his bloodline.
When Josh turns up in Scotland, Elizabeth is able to make contact - and though Josh finds her fascinating, her tale of vampires leads him to believe she’s lost a few marbles.
Josh is in possession of an antique sword, a sword that has been in his family for years - a sword that has come to the attention of several people - all of whom want the sword for themselves.
Most notably is Saloman, who now styles himself Adam Simon - a very successful businessman. The sword is rightfully his - and he wants it back.
Elizabeth thought she had seen the last of Saloman - though in her secret thoughts she longs for him. Now she is torn - the vampire hunter in her wants to eliminate Saloman, while the woman in her - just wants him.
Blood Sin takes place six months after Blood on Silk. I liked the flow of this novel from the first but it did have a little of that arch between book feel were you know you are being bridged from one place to another. Even having said that, I never felt pushed in any way and I liked Blood Sin.
As Blood Sin starts, Elizabeth is back at her old life and teaching at a university. I enjoyed seeing her at the university and teaching, I liked the interaction you got between Elizabeth and her students as well. I enjoyed her character so much more in this book. Elizabeth is still training and discovering her strength in many ways and she is not the wishy washy girl she was in Blood on Silk. I was so happy with her character growth.
There are new characters in Blood Sin. First is Elizabeth's distant cousin Josh who just so happens to be a famous actor. Ok, so I liked Josh’s character and he added to the story, but I did not buy into the whole huge actor bit. Yes, I know this is all fiction but he just moved around a little too freely to be this huge actor, in my opinion. (Not that I know any big actors personally.) The second new character is Dante who is your quintessential bad guy. Dante somehow knows way too much about everyone in Elizabeth’s life. He desperately wants to get Saloman’s sword for all kinds of spoilery reasons I am not going to tell you because you should read this series:)
I know what you’re wondering now. “What about Saloman and Elizabeth? Do they get together in this book?” All I have to say about them is when Saloman and Elizabeth are together on page I can’t keep my lips from smiling. They are so hot! And Saloman…I do believe I have found a new vamp to love.
I love the continuous world building in the Awakened by Blood series. Marie Treanor has me wanting to go to places like Budapest, which before this series has never even been on my radar.
Elizabeth Silk is a vampire hunter who is torn between doing her duty and being in love. Saloman, a very powerful vampire, was awakened by accident and Elizabeth was his lover for a period of time. But now he’s gone and she still craves him.
Saloman only thinks of Scotland, his sword, and Elizabeth. The last time Elizabeth and Saloman had been together, they fought over her conflict. How can a vampire hunter love a vampire? When Elizabeth learns the location of Saloman’s sword, a prize both humans and vampires want for its legendary power, it becomes a race to see who can get to the sword first. Will Elizabeth be able to control her heart and save mankind?
Blood Sin by Marie Treanor is the second book in her Awakened by Blood series. I found this a really interesting book with a plot which gripped me from the first page. Elizabeth is a fascinating and deeply layered character. She’s three dimensional and a character I really found myself rooting for. She’s strong yet vulnerable when it comes to her love for Saloman, which makes her very human.
Saloman is a very complex vampire; while you would think all vampires are evil and do a lot of killing, Saloman is showing other vampires they can feed without killing. He wants his race to survive and not die out. It was really hard not to root for him and Elizabeth when they are together.
I really believe you should read these books in the order they are written; there is a lot of world building which has taken place and the storylines continue from one book to the next. If you don’t read the first book Blood on Silk first, you might feel as if you are missing something in the story. I enjoyed the romance and storyline of Blood Sin and can’t wait to see where Ms. Treanor takes Elizabeth and Saloman next.
Blood Sin is the second book in Marie Treanor's Awakened by Blood series. This book focuses mostly on Saloman's infamous lost sword. When the wrong people get their sights set on finding this powerful sword, it's a race to see who gets to it first.
Elizabeth is once again torn between her duty to the vampire hunters, as well as her love for Saloman. She knows that their differences will always come between them, but you can't choose who your heart decides to love. Their feelings for each other deepen in this book, and there are definitely some swoon-worthy moments.
The actual plot of this story honestly didn't grab me. I preferred the plot of the first book better, when Saloman and Elizabeth were determined to kill each other but couldn't get themselves to do it. I liked this book just as much though, which might sound odd. I don't think there was as many slow parts, and Saloman continues to grow on me. You really can't help but like him. These two have amazing chemistry that I never get bored of. There is just something about the forbidden love between a vampire and human – I can't get enough of it.
The secondary characters grew on me a little bit, and some new ones were introduced in this book. Things were left open again at the end of this book that will compel you to read the next. I have this hope that things can work themselves out to where Elizabeth and Saloman can live happily ever after. I have a feeling that more will come between them, and I can't wait to see how things will end up between these two.
Synopsis Months after awakening the most powerful vampire of all time, Elizabeth Silk must join forces with him once more in the search for Saloman's legendary sword before dangerous forces, both human and vampire, use it to rule over everyone.
Review Simply amazing - Treanor's writing is smooth (especially the extraordinary fight scenes), her plot engrossing and her characters come to life on the pages.
Elizabeth is still torn between her loyalty to the vampire hunters and her all consuming love for Saloman. Nevertheless, she has grown in confidence and ability, and is more than capable of holding her own against anything that comes her way.
Saloman is one of the most captivating and morally ambiguous heroes around but it is impossible not to fall for him. His chemistry with Elizabeth is as spell-binding as ever and their scenes together leave you wanting more.
The secondary characters are a mix of old and new, friends as well as enemies. All are well written and merge seamlessly into the story, which is compelling with some interesting twists and turns surrounding the sword and those who are after it. There is also a tantalizing prophecy that opens up new avenues for further exploration.
All in all, an excellent sequel that is equally as good if not better than the first book and I cannot wait to see what happens next.
I was pretty sad with how things ended in BLOOD ON SILK. They have so much chemistry together and it was hard to see them put that aside instead of finding a way to work together. Elizabeth has started tracking down her fellow descendants of Tsigana which leads her to find Josh a movie star that happens to be a far off relation to her. Josh became another great supporting character to the series while also bring Elizabeth into a situation where she runs into Soloman again. The pace was on the same level as book 1. The romance was just as high and the situations were just as pleasantly intense. I m excited to see what will happen in BLOOD AWAKENING to bring Soloman and Elizabeth even closer. BLOOD SIN was another great book in the Awakened by Blood series.
Beautifully worded and easy to pick up if you haven’t followed the series, Treanor crafted a story that will draw readers into her world and leave them wanting more. Soloman is a heroic vampire who is easy to fall for, and Elizabeth is torn with enough realistic emotional issues that, although it is a fantasy, it is easy to slip into this world and believe the conflict. Unique plot twists about the sword and its nature keep the reader guessing. Steamy chemistry and passion-filled romance keeps the pace heated and rounds off an altogether spicy read.

I am in love with the gentle growth of this story. There is a TON of action, adventure, confrontations and romance...yet we watch these characters GROW into their relationships. It's not just "BAM", it's a true story tellers tale. I love that Elizabeth goes from a non-believer into Mega-hottie Saloman's love. He can't help being the force of nature he has always been and she can't help being the innocent that is gradually having her eyes opened to what truly goes on in the outside world. Yet he does not want her to be disillusioned with what she CAN be, and that is HIS to love!
Blood Sin is Marie Treanor's second book in her Awakened by Blood series. I've already bought the third and possibly final book in this series. I've enjoyed watching Elizabeth and Solomon fall in love. He may not know he's there yet but he's close and she loves him very much. Now that she's finally had to choose and seal her allegiance to him and is no longer torn between him and the hunters it should be interesting to see how she proceeds in the next book. I'd say it's at least a 4 out of 5.
From the first breath of Salamon's dark, sultry presence on the page to Elizabeth's fire each sentence leaves you spellbound as the story takes you deeper into the mystery. Marie Treanor has woven a history that is captivating, sexy and mindnumbingly intense! Once again I am dying for the next book in this series.
I am really enjoying this series. I liked the 2nd book even more than the first. The storyline was interesting. I like the author's take on her vampire world. The characters are well developed and I am in love with Saloman. Elizabeth is a great heroine. I have already jumped into book 3 Blood Eternal.
Better than the first in my eyes as Elizabeth has become a very strong woman, able to resist even her love for him in her search for "rightness/goodness".
The story is captivating and all the characters enjoyable. Notice that this book has an open ending and it's clearly a middle book in a longer story arch.
I enjoyed his book, but not as much as the first one. I think the whole Adam Simon thing put me off a little. It just wasn't the Saloman/Elizabeth relationship I'd got used to in the first book. However, once they reached his homeland and left NY and Scotland behind, it got a lot better. More like what I was expecting. Can't wait to read the next one.
This one was a bit harder for me to follow than the first one; I think I needed to read them closer together. I also had some difficulty keeping alliances and intrigues straight. Despite all that, it was still an enjoyable read.
I love vampire stories and Marie Treanor has taken this book, along with the first book in the series to a unique place. I can't wait for the next in the series which comes out in October.
