As a college senior and server at Hanaford Park's hottest nightclub, twenty-one year old Ryann Pierce's plan was work hard, make lots of money, and avoid the ass-grabbers at all costs. What she never planned for was Quinn Donegan—the living, breathing advertisement for sinful behavior that waltzed into her life.

With an angelic face, a hard body and a butt-load of charm, Quinn had a way with the ladies—a lot of ladies. Cursed with a deadly, addictive touch, his trail of indiscretion blazed across five hundred years. Tired and jaded, Ryann is a shocking revelation Quinn didn't see coming.

Filled with desire, yet unable to touch one another, Ryann and Quinn embark on a daunting journey, battling frustrating physical limitations while exploring their new love. In a race against the clock, Ryann learns she must plead for Quinn's life before…the Eve of Samhain. Determined to end her lover's suffering, not even the danger dogging her every move can keep her from her mission.

Eve of Samhain is the debut novel from Lisa Sanchez and WOW!! Right from the first sentence of 'All men are assholes' until the very last word this book had me in the palm of his hand.

I love Ryann, and that is SO rare for me to even like a heroine without wanting to do harsh physical damage to her face. But she is a wonderful character, she's sharp, witty with such sarcastic dialogue. She has a total shoe and bag addiction, right there that makes us BFFs, and she struggles just like any regular girl with weight and vanity and body image, Lisa Sanchez gives us a heroine that wont just lay down and whimper like a damsel in distress neither will she act all schwarzenegger and kick the beegeezus out of you, unlike some PNR who only go either way, Ms Sanchez made Ryann just right.
The first meeting with Quinn i loved. Not used to women not succumbing to his addictive charms, Ryann gives him some snark whilst inwardly lusting for him.

Quinn, with his irish tongue and sex god features is someone you want to kick his ass and pounce attack at the same time. Who doesn't want to kiss the face off a bad boy huh? He's one tortured boy and that makes him act like a right stuck up pompous jerk at first, i supposed used to women flocking to him like a magnet he's gonna be a little jaded, but you just want to love him still. Im a sucker for an Irish boy and Ms Sanchez portrayed him fantastically, her easy style and flow of words just lift clean from the page/screen and transport you into Quinn and Ryann's world. Despite the plaguing lurk of an unknown danger the book is littered with brilliant humour that WILL have you laughing out loud, along with the so sweet romance that drives the book it will have you reading until the very end loving these characters more and more.

Watching these two characters fall in love and struggle around not being able to touch at all that even i was dying for a first kiss, forget the sexy time i just wanted a lip lock. I wont spoilers, but i was so happy with how it all was wrapped up, i loved the mythology of the story, how can you not love a good celtic curse love story.

Along with Ryann and Quinn there's interesting side characters, Jessica and Martha Stewart (hehe!) one preppy blonde, the other a goth witch. i found them both interesting and i smell sequels for sure!

Some funny quotes i loved and made me laugh out loud:
From Ryann:
-"This otherworldly creature was not only a walking advertisement for sinful behaviour, but a mystical weapon of lust and desire sent to destroy me"

-Orgasms! Get your orgasms here. Hot and juicy! Just how you like 'em!

-"I'd be running like a crazed Forest Gump wannabe for the following week "

From Quinn:
-"Im sorry to interupt your eye-fucking session, but you still need to put that shirt on, a ghra," he said with a particularly smug grin.

It takes some hella awesome writing to drive a love story when you can't include the basic human needs of touching, there's always something delicious in the forbidden, Quinn is the sexiest forbidden Alpha, and dayum when he gets possessive you want to call out to the gods, he's now firmly in my list of all time favourite book boyfriends....simply he had me at 'a ghra' How can you not fall head over feets in love with him when he's whispering to you in that deep rumbling Irish brogue of his

“I will always come for you, a ghrá. You are my life, the very air I breathe, and I cannot be without you. Táim I ngrá leat. Is tú mo shonuachar. I love you. You’re my soul mate"

Sweet jeezus Pass the ice! I hope we see lots of him in the future a character that pantie screamingly lickable awesome can't be a one off!
I don't often tell people to go and read something, usually let them make their own minds up, but this IS a book you're going to want to read.

A wonderfully engaging && heart wrenching read! LOVED!

Eve of Samhain combines mythical curses and sexual Celtic legend, giving a new delicious twist to this paranormal element.

This book was really cute and super fun. While it had it's tender and on edge moments, it generally had an intense playful energy to it that I just loved.
Ryann is a fierce, independent and bold. I like the fact that she's not one of those characters who has to wave a damsel in distress flag to catch a mans attention, she a no-taking-crap kind of gal who can hold her own.
Quinn is one tortured hot mess, a real pompous arrogant punk at the start, but he'll suck you in his irresistible web once you get to know him. Just a gorgeous creature inside and out. I love the way he loves, and that Irish accent and the things he says? HOT!

“I will always come for you, a ghrá. You are my life, the very air I breathe, and I cannot be without you. Táim I ngrá leat. Is tú mo shonuachar. I love you. You’re my soul mate.

Beautiful!

Lisa Sanchez delivers an intriguing, suspenseful plot with quick wit and sharp sarcasm that will have you laughing out loud, and aching in all the right places. There is a sweet sensation in this world that shines through. Giving the words; Temptation, Addiction and Foreplay a new tasty flavor for us to devour.

Sizzling, Smoldering and Steamy. Eve of Samhain is dame Sexy!

A Wonderful and Spunky debut that will keep you reading from start to finish!!
Loved it!!

This was captivating (surprisingly so actually). I didn't know what to expect when starting this but I actually really liked it!

We met Ryann ( okay were Im from thats a boys name) and Quinn (Yes, I am naming my first born son, Quinn).

So Ryann is a 21 year old college student doing the usual struggles with money, work and school when she mets Quinn ::FANS SELF:: Now I like Ryann but the author 'Lisa Sanchez' just went a little to heavy with the self loathing body image of Ryann whom was constantly reminding us of her large tooshie and tata's. Honestly I guess most 21 year old are like that. Constantly concerned about body image, hell even I am! but I would have prefered to see a confident woman who embraced what the god lord gave her.

Then there is Quinn, oh mumma!! He is the epitome of man this one. Sculpted body *sign*, smooth talking *drool* and all round perfection. But of course, he is a fairy. And not just a normal fairy, but a horny fairy who got into a lot of trouble for trying to seduce the fairy Queen. Now he cannot touch another woman without them going crazy gaga over him.

So here we have Ryann and Quinn who desperately want to do the nasty but cant because Quinns silly curse. Whats a girl to do????

I really got suckered into this one and I am eager to read more in the series in the future.

What can I say about this amazing book? First of all I love the main character, Ryann. She is snarky, independent, hot as hell, and can run like a bat out of hell. The male lead, and romantic interest, Quinn is . . . ::fans self:: verrah verrah delicious.

Ryann is a waitress who also goes to school full time. She has two roommates that cracked me up constantly. The way she played Ryann's two worlds (her friends and her romantic yumminess with Quinn) was done in perfect harmony to the point I forgot I was in my bedroom reading and was transported right into the world Lisa created. Quinn, of course, is a mysterious cutie pie who is a jerk all at the same time. But man, don't we ladies love us a bad boy? I know I do! I seriously couldn't put this book down and devoured it like bunch of succulent grapes. Lisa is not only a talented author, she is a down-to-earth sweetheart. You can tell by her writing, though, that she has a mean streak in her! I expect many great things to come from this author and hope to read her most current WIP before it's published . . . though I doubt she'll let me. A girl can beg, right?

Anyway . . . READ THIS BOOK! Now I'm going to go back to my fantasies about Quinn.

Faes, Demons, Witches and Humans...with some Ghouls and Vampires thrown into the background. This is the first of a series. And I finished reading this book with a big smile on my face.

It was funny, fierce, sappy, romantic and interesting.

Side note: Why are all the PNR Chicks virgins who's parents are deceased? Oh, well, it doesn't matter I still loved reading this.and I love Ryan, the heroine, she is so natural and alot like us...not a superwoman. Her being a virgin was handled with such finesse and was a very touching part of the story.

College age bar maid meets drop dead sex god where she works. He insults her and she doesn't do what all the other girls do....she dishes it back to him:

Quinn swaggers in to the bar where the heroine works with some pumped up blond (she calls her "the set of boobs" he brought in with him) and insults the heroine....she says, "Despite his blatant show of rudeness, my palms begin to sweat and my heart danced a quickstep inside my chest. Apparently, my mind took offense at being offended, but my body-yeah, it didn't seem to care."

But Ryan is good.....he asks for "booze." and she says to herself, "Who asks for booze anymore?" Then she asks him in a comeback: "Maybe you would like a brown bag to hide your Ripple. In case you haven't noticed you are inside a nightclub not in a liquor store."

This is my kinda girl..."I liked him better when he kept his trap shut.

I love how Quinn calls this waitress who slobbers all over him (EVERY woman does) in front of Ryan.....a "Bobfoc." .......or simply put, "A Body Off Baywatch.....Face Off Crimewatch. The author's sense of humor is fantastic aspects of this book.

She is attracted to him, dislikes him for who he is and how he acts but always seems to see a sadness behind his smile....that she wishes she could understand.

But they keep being thrown together and they form a sort of friendship. He seems to enjoy her company but never touches her. She just figures he doesn't see her as a desirable woman and is disappointed even though she does start to treasure his friendship over time.

What she doesn't know is that he is falling in love with her....and what he doesn't know is that she is falling in love with him. He tells her in Galic, "Tá Mo Chroí Istigh Ionat" or "My Heart Is Within You" & "Ta? im i ngra? leat". "Is tu? mo sonuachar" or "I am in love with you
You’re my soul mate." But of course she doesn't know what he is saying. And in the middle of an argument she slips and tells him she loves him. She only feels foolish and mistakenly feels it is not returned.

He has a way of making Ryan feel beautiful and special...She throws her self at him a few times and he pushes her back careful not to touch. They carefully express their physical love by touching each other in the middle of their chest over the heart while staring into each others eyes. Ahhhhhhhhh. It is beautiful-honest!

I enjoy their banter, they are both so funny and find myself as a reader looking forward to when they are together probably as much as they do.

He finally admits to her of his true nature and the curse that is upon him. This is why he never touches Ryan.

Underlying this story....a demon has claimed Ryan as his own and is after her...Quinn is the only one who can save her and protects her fiercely.

What Quinn hasn't told her is So he is scrambling to defeat the demon so that Ryan can be safe.

Her best friend Jessica along with their room mate Martha Stewart, yes you heard right (who is a witch) try to find a solution to Quinn s curse before he dies and leaves Ryan all alone. You get a HEA ending and it is action packed right up to the end. I always love a book when I enjoy reading about the secondary characters and this does not leave you hanging in this regard. I am looking forward to Martha's story in the next book of this series.

This is a funny, full of action story with a very satisfying romance-enough to please my friend Taryn, and with enough laughter to satisfy my friend PA and with enough action and adventure to please a story hound like me (although, to be honest...I am easily distracted in this regard by other aspects of the book listed above....) Oh, and it is good enough to leave a smile on my face. It is worth your test drive....I look forward to Book number two in this series.

WONDERFUL book, leaves you with a smile on your face...it's refreshing after some rather cliff hanger, not so happy endings to have one that's got an ending that just leaves you happy...elated even.

Though not something I normally read, as an adult novel, it was refreshing, and sweet yet dangerous. It left me breathless, with a sense of desire and fear, all interwoven, in a weirdly tangible way.

Honestly as a woman whom has not been "in love" in a long LONG time...it was nice reading about love...I miss it, and it's books like this that make me miss it all the more.

Beautiful told story, I hope that Lisa thinks about a sequel, though the story is fully told, it would be fun to read more in this "world" I enjoyed each of the characters very much...and Quinm is HOT, the "bad boy" kinda hot, but he's also sweet, alluring, sexy and tolerant, with an enormous sense of humor. Ryann (I just love her name), is unique as well...it was interesting to read about her, the ONLY possible complaint I might have, is that before she meets Quinn, I wish there was a bit more of who she is, though we do learn more about her as she learns more about Quinn, so I think it all evened out.

Also, the whole relationship, though very well defined and developed, I wish there had been more when Lisa had days or weeks go by, it would have been neat to see little snippets of them during those times, I love reading about the whole "get to know you stage" - though I guess some can find it quite boring.

Anyway, really amazing story, with total feel good characters...I think it's got a little bit of everything, love, desire, as well as action, and fear. It had me laughing, crying, pleading, and even white knuckled!

Full review to come.

no no No. NO NO. NO NO NO NO WHYY?!?
You know what i hate? I HATE it when you loveee the main character in the first chapter of the book, so you buy it, and then you discover that the author was really just putting up a SHAM and the main character is actually about as shallow as they come. AND THEN you get REALLLLY angry because you just wasted money on a book you won't finish.
I just hate that.
ASIFDHalkjsfjsl;akfdj.
sorry. im releasing some steam here.

Ryann, the female lead, seemed so PROMISING in the first chapter. so level-headed and fiesty. But *sigh* she melts in her goddamn booty-shorts the moment Sexy (with a capital S. because apparently he's that good) Quinn, the romantic interest, appears on the pages of the book.
Ryann cried 3 times in the span of like 20 pages...and prides herself on being a tough-cookie. What? no. no, i dont think so. She just... went from happy to BAM! tears in like 2 seconds flat. each. time. over presumptuous things too.

And then she won't stop with the weight obsession and minding her figure. I swear if i listen to one more word about how her BIG boobs, BIG butt and FLAT stomach aren't the norm, and how she's gotta keep hitting the gym-- IM GOING TO START CRYING MYSELF TO SLEEP. Then Ryann won't be alone in her water-works at least.

And Quinn...so hunky...but really Lisa Sanchez? How many times must i watch Ryann practically faint from lust? HMMM?? How many times are you going to describe how gosh-darn sexy Quinn and his muscles are? because even i, as i have sadly discovered, have my limits. and im a romance-aholic.

I wanted this novel, Eve of Samhain, to be a light-hearted romance with fun characters and a kick-ass protagonist. I wanted to like it sooo bad. It had a great idea of a story...
But no.

I liked the way she wrote the couple and the plot was pretty good. It was more of a fun read rather than smutty. Not quite my kind of story but want to read more from this author to see if I enjoy that more. There is a least a part two in my book app

First impression of the hero is: he's an ass of the highest caliber! But apparently also so hot he can melt your panties! ;) First impression of the heroine: Kickass and what a firecracker! Love her ballsiness and fuck you attitude! :D

Ryann is one awesome chick! She was a strong, independent, take no shit kind of girl! From the first moment she meets Quinn she's simultaneously enthralled by his sex appeal and disgusted by his pigheadedness. While her body is on fire for him, her brain would love to punch him in the face! I loved it! She had so much sass and attitude, there was never a dull moment with her! Everything that came out of her mouth was hilarious!

"What the hell was going on, why did I care, and why oh why, did I not carry a pocket rocket in my purse?"

"Yeah okay, just try not to insult me again or I might have to shank you."

Quinn. Oh, Quinn. How I, too, wanted to reach in this book and punch you in the balls!

He was so cocky and totally sure of himself and made no qualms about flaunting his sexy self. Until he meets Ryann. And while the first few encounters he was with different women, he became just as enamored with her as she was with him. As the story progressed, I fell in love with his absolute possessiveness with Ryann. While he may have seemed overbearing, he was trying so hard to protect her. And while she appreciated it, she did her own thing and had a few tstl moments with her lack of taking the stalker situation more serious. Luckily, she saw the error of her ways! But it was easy to see that even though he didn't say it out loud, at least not in English ;), that he loved her, you could tell by his actions. And his Irish accent and the pet names he had for her!! *swoon*

"mo chroí" (my heart) "a ghrá" (my love) "Tá mo chroí istigh ionat" (my heart is in you) "Táim i ngrá leat. Is tú mo shonuachar" (I'm in love with you. You are my soul mate) See!!! Melt your ♥

I really enjoyed this book. I had very minimal issues with it and those were more of a personal preference rather than anything the author did. I think Ms. Sanchez did a great job with her world building and the characters were very well written. I was intrigued from page one and couldn't put it down! The supporting characters were also fabulous and I liked that Martha ended up one of the group and I can't wait to read her book next!

My issues. First, I would say this is more of a New Adult book and while I enjoy that genre, I was hoping for more adult here. In other words, my inner perv was disappointed there wasn't more action ;). Don't get me wrong, the sexual tension between Ryann and Quinn was smokin hot! But I would have really enjoyed seeing them get more time between the sheets after everything they had to overcome to be together. I mean, he is the Gancanagh, or "love talker" in Irish mythology! His prowess is unmatched! lol Speaking of mythology, I absolutely loved that aspect of this story! I've always been interested in the different tales spun from ancient mythology and this one was quite interesting! I found myself looking at Wikipedia several times just to learn more about this or that mentioned along the way. I was very pleasantly surprised with this one. And I can't wait to dive into the next one! :)

"You came for me." .... "I will always come for you, a ghrá. You are my life, the very air I breathe, and I cannot be without you. Táim i ngrá leat. Is tú mo shonuachar. I love you. You're my soul mate."

♥♥ Well said Quinn! ♥♥

Marissa's Review:

I was trolling through Lisa Sanchez's website as I had heard a lot of talk of this book and of Lisa herself. I stumbled upon the excerpt, read it, loved it and ordered the book right then and there!!
I wasnt disappointed. It was a great change to books I have recently been reading - I was crying out for more smexi and Eve of Samhain certainly delivered!
For a debut novel, Lisa has done a fantastic job in telling the story of Quinn and Ryann (from Ryann's POV). The sexual tension is rather predominant without being tawdry. Lisa has ripped out a few classic one-liners throughout the book.
The feeling Ryann has for Quinn is so easily felt. Having Quinn be a lovably saucy Irish lad was a nice change.
Along with the smexi anguish, the story comes complete with villain, action and even a moral lesson to be learnt!
Congratulations to Lisa Sanchez for Eve of Samhain and I look forward to reading her second book when it is released.
I gave this book a 4.5 out of 5.Eve of Samhain

Michelle's Review:

must start by saying that at several times during this book you may need to 'fan oneself'. I would say this isn't for your younger audience. I really enjoyed this book by Lisa and look forward to her next book from Martha's POV. This story is told from Ryann's POV.

Quinn , Oh my goodness...mother of pearl...fans oneself...oh dear lordy..humana..humana... ( deep breath) , is the smexi , cocky, cussing Irish lad. Women mean nothing to him, they are his pleasure, his one night stand, until he meets Ryann. Unfortunately Quinn has been cursed by the Faerie Queen for being a cocky Irish lad crossing the line with her and his fate is in her hands.

Ryann, 21yrs old, smart, ample boozemed , bootie bar employee, BFF to Jessica and roomie to the mysterious Martha, the Gothic chick .( I will save Martha's last name for you..hee..hee.. ) Can she save Quinn???

Gabriel , Ryann's friend and fellow bootie bar employee.....hmmmm I can't help wondering if there is more to him, I have my theory.

Lisa has set us up for book 2 with a hint at Martha's life wanting you to know more .

The first chapter of this book is a corker it's your introduction to both Ryann and Quinn aka....

Quotes:

"This overwordly creature was not only a walking advertisement for sinful behaviour, but a mystical weapon of lust and desire sent to destroy me."

"My daydream burst when he opened his pie hole. Was he talking to me?"

"A wide panty - dropping grin crossed his face, and it was clear to me he found my frustration with him funny."

"I went about my work, painfully aroused I might add, and watched from the corner of my eye as he downed his Guinness in one long gulp."

"I bit the inside of my cheek, stifling the urge to lift my arm , extend my middle finger and let the patron saint of p........ off servers fly."

Eve of Samhain is a sometimes erotic, cussing, funny, smexi read, with Otherworld characters, bad guy action and a lesson to be learnt. I had a great time reading it.

Lisa Sanchez's debut novel is definantly worth a read. I have a favourite part in this book..I'm sure most would agree with me:D

Ryann Pierce’s reaction when she first meets Quinn is two equally fast and all consuming thoughts: 1) What a Jerk! And 2: What a Body! They both came so fast she didn’t even know the order they occurred in. This quick read was unexpectedly entertaining as it welcomed you into the story from the first paragraph.

I found the characters likable, well-developed and believable. I really enjoyed Quinn’s excitement of having a friend and shared the sadness when more of his secret was revealed. His charm and sex appeal were so clear they came off the pages. Ryann’s full and relatively normal lifestyle was so finely drawn, she too could be a person you’d see or know in your own life. I also really liked them together, they were adorable. The secondary characters also pulled their weight and supported well moving the story along. They were not a distraction to the star couple nor were they interchangeable or extraneous. The pacing and plot were clearly defined and wove nicely introducing new story elements.

One of the things that didn’t sit so well with me was the ease that Ryan accepts Quinn’s otherness as well as the quick adjustment to Another not so great highlight for me was Ryann’s self image – although a fitting character trait for her, quite believable and extremely well written, it struck a nerve on my personal bias meter. Those things being said, they did not slow down the pace or my enjoyment of the book. I’m very much looking forward to getting book two out of the dreaded TBR pile immediately.

If you’ve not begun this series is past time for you to start.

What I loved about this book?

Answer- Lisa Sanchez (and no it is not because we are practically neighbors). Seriously, the author's writing style is the style I love. Ms. Sanchez created characters that are witty (not obnoxious), sarcastic (not annoying) and most importantly, the characters were likeable. The story was interesting and unique and it kept my attention throughout the book.

What I didn't like about this book?

The descriptions about Ryann's body image. Ryann wasn't the typical skinny female. She has big boobs and a big butt. I was pleased that we didn't have the standard Barbie doll and initially thought the message was that was "okay". Nevertheless, there was too much writing about it, from her jogging, to her clothes (even her bras) down to her hairstyle. I would rather have had Ryann have a F*ck you attitude and come across as not having any issues with her body and if you didn't like it, too bad. The self image problem for Ryann seemed out of place and it became a distraction.

Overall I really enjoyed the book. I look forward to future books from Ms. Sanchez.

Why I Read this Book: I loved the premise of this book! When I first read the blurb I thought now this is going to be interesting! This part of the blurb caught my attention:

Filled with desire, yet unable to touch one another[…]

I definitely wanted to read this book to find out how this situation between the two main characters, who are attracted to each other but cannot touch one another, was going to work out. A good chunk of any relationship is touch: holding hands, hugging, kissing among other things. So take away that element and all you have remaining is intellectual attraction. And you better be intellectually compatible in order for your relationship to work.

What I Liked: The writing was done in a fun way. This is one of my favorite quotes:

As I continued eye-fucking him, my eyes came across something I hadn’t noticed before: another tattoo.

It was the second time in two days I heard/read the phrase “eye-fucking”. I’m adding this phrase to my vocabulary. I also enjoyed the Irish mythology; the story of Gancanagh. The author did a superb job at telling the background story; it was told very well and in depth.

And the book couldn’t have started off any better than this:

All men are assholes. No, wait…let me rephrase that.

What I Didn’t Like: I had trouble accepting Ryann’s initial attraction to Quinn. Right off the bat the guy is an arrogant arse with a huge ego yet Ryann is infatuated with him. Quinn is too unlikable in the beginning for Ryann to be so infatuated with him! Without giving too much away, though I’m sure you can get the gist of it from the blurb, there is a reason for this which is explained a little later on in the book. Quinn makes up for his horrible first impression but I wasn’t feeling the connection between these two characters in the beginning part of the book.

Another thing that bothered me was that Ryann wasn’t asking the million dollar question! I wanted to shake that woman to knock some sense into her. She’s more worried about his feelings towards her than finding out more about the curse. And when she finally ask him the million dollar question, he doesn’t answer; there’s more to the curse then the reader was lead to believe! I was biting my nails at this point.

Overall Impression: Eve of Samhain read like a paranormal style fairytale; a love story encumbered with a curse. It was beautiful tale yet it still had its dark side. As a debut novel, it was a good read. I will most likely check out the next book in this series, Pleasures Untold, which is Martha’s story.

This book was a great read. The beginning was a little slow, but I can forgive that since the author spends that time world building. Plus it’s the time when we really get to know the characters and what’s going on with them. But once you get past that, the story really picks up and moves along so fast that you won’t be able to put it down.

I love Ryann. And she’s definitely my type of woman with her massive purse collection. My heart practically stopped when she sold the entire collection to help Quinn. Ok, he’s hot and he loves her…but…her purses!!! Excuse me for a moment while I mourn the loss of them...Ok. All done. I have to give Ryann a lot of credit, I’m not sure how I would have reacted to all the things she found out about. I might have reacted ok (which a healthy dose of shock) to finding out about Quinn’s past, but the stalker…not so much.

First off…Quinn is seriously hot. But he also had the nice caring, protective bad boy thing going on too. Add in the little background story of his and you have a recipe for a hot character! Plus, once he decided that he wanted Ryann, he was completely devoted to her. No matter how many other girls hit on him, he only had eyes for Ryann. And I love that. All too often, there are things that keep a characters apart or tear them apart. While there were hurdles Ryann and Quinn had to overcome, they were together through the whole book.

I have to say that I loved the fact that Ryann didn’t immediately fall for Quinn. Yes, she was attracted to him (what’s not to like? He has an Irish accent and he’s hot! ;) ) but at the same time, she was thoroughly disgusted by his attitude and the multiple girls hanging off his arm. But Quinn had a way of growing on a person and Ryann was no different. They end up spending some time together and feelings grow out of that. She is such a strong woman, and that’s refreshing since she’s not like a lot of other characters. However, with that said, I have an issue with characters making stupid mistakes when there is danger surrounding them or they know they’re in danger. Why would you put yourself in danger just to prove a point about how independent you are? At some point, you need to put your pride aside and realize that the person protecting you is there to protect you!

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. And I highly recommend reading it. :)

Man… what the heck?!

It’s been a bit now since I read Paranormal anything, and boy, I feel like the prodigal son coming back home.

I received this book from the Omnific Twitter Party a bit ago and it took me so long to read it because I schedule my reads, again, don’t judge what little OCD tendencies I might have!

So far, all the books I received that day I have loved and this one I left for last, no special reason. Dude, this freaking book…

So I’ve had this ‘’dislike’’ for book heroines for a while now, and at the beginning, I was about to hold unfair grudge against this particular one. Ryann, well, I liked her, because I relate to her, she has this dark sense of humor and witty personality, just like moi, but I don’t really have a potty mouth (only when I write) and I have her body type, but unlike her, I love my body (and I hated the fact she made a big deal of not liking hers, that made me a tad mad.)

But let me just make a fuss about what I loved, one word: QUINN.

(Insert big ass sigh), this piece of bad ass faerie did it! The best paranormal character I’ve read in like, a while!! (Sorry, Edward Cullen will be forever #1).  I mean, he is so strong, hot, dedicated, and so funny, he can be sweet, and I just loved every time he spoke in his language to her.

“No, a ghrá. You are amazing. Tá grá agam duit. I love you”

You keep that shit and I will turn into a pile of nothing…

I also loved Martha and Queen Morgana because they are right down bad asses J

This story was fun, different, and I want a Quinn, I have not read the other books in the saga, don’t even know what they are about, but I can’t take Gabriel the bartender out of my head, and I want more Quinn, obscene amounts of Quinn, I want a tall glass of Quinn, I want a Gummy Bears and Bacon wrapped Quinn, I want a Quinn Rosetta Stone so I can learn his damned sexy faerie language, I should stop talking, about now.

Anyways, I have to thank yet again the people from Omnific Publishing and of course the very talented Lisa Sanchez because this book was just awesomeness, granted, she got a spot on my AAL™.

Now let me check these other books…

When Ryann Pierce sees the Quinn Donegan enter the bar she is working at, she thinks well maybe there is one man on earth who who could charm her rather than the creeps who are constantly coming on to her on a daily basis. All it takes is for Quinn to open his mouth before Ryann realizes her fantasy is just like the rest.

Quinn has spent the last 500 years cursed for being a player, woman constantly are vying for his attention and what is so wrong with taking what is so freely given, except when it comes to Ryann who manages to give him a piece of her mind. For the first time in his life he wants someone to want him for him, not his appearance or sexuality. A strange friendship develops between Ryann and Quinn as her life is put in danger and his is about to end.

When I first started this I was not quite so sure about it, but a couple of chapters in I was hooked. There is an innocence to the story as Quinn develops unrecognizable feelings for Ryann and she is trying to understand why he does not act on it. Will definitely give the next book a try.

When I read this story, I had very little knowledge of Celtic mythology. So reading Eve of Samhain was enlightening, as well as, entertaining. Despite not being able to physically touch one another, I enjoyed how Quinn and Ryann still found ways to be close. Ryann is a quirky heroine. Quinn is arrogant yet witty and charming. There are a lot of funny moments mixed in with the sexual tension and a nice splash of suspense. Definitely worth reading! Also, go to eveofsamhain (dot) com to listen to the music playlist...it's pretty cool!

Wow. And may I say again, wow! This book knocked my socks off, then put them back on again. I am a sucker for mythology, and this one has it in spades. I loved the instant love/hate/lust relationship between the 2 main characters, and I would like to enter into one of my own with Mr Quinn, hellooooo. I am so terribly excited to see what happens to these two, I think I smell sequel? Or is it just the hot...

SNARKY MODERN FAERIE TALE

Eve of Samhain is a paranormal romance featuring Ryann Pierce, a college student by day and club waitress by night. Losing her parents at a young age has turned Ryann into a feisty, stubborn, independent young woman, and woe to the club patron who tries to grab a piece of her alluring backside--he’s sure to receive a harsh word or quick smack in return . . .

Until Quinn Donegan enters. He’s a tall, muscular, blue-eyed hunk with a sexy Irish brogue and a spirited argumentativeness of his own. Oh, and did I mention he’s a 500 year-old faerie? Ryann’s too disheveled by his tantalizing effect on her to respond with her typical cheek, but that doesn’t stop Quinn from continuing to throw out barbs and insults . . . surely a sign of his affection. Quinn is determined to keep Ryann safe from a nefarious shape-shifter that stalks her and says creepy things like “Mine” while threatening her.

I love how Quinn and Ryann seem made for each other not only due to their physical attraction but also due to their similar impudence. Because of Quinn’s arrogance and womanizing, the faerie queen placed a curse on him long ago. As a result, he and Ryann have to refrain from touching each other, ratcheting up the palpable sexual tension. Quinn’s Gaelic words reminded me of Jamie Fraser from the Outlander series, and I felt like Claire Randall, swooning every time Quinn murmured sweet nothings in Gaelic.

Ryann is clever with her made-up words. I laughed out loud when she calls Quinn a “fastard” and describes her own “badonkadonk-sized keister”, as well as lines like this from p. 47 when Quinn’s describing his powers:

**“You’d only lose your mind if I were to shag you.”

“SHAG me?” I said, slightly taken aback. Were we trapped in a Mike Myers film and I didn’t know it?**

I also liked how Ryann isn’t very experienced in the bedroom. It makes her seem more real.

I felt sad for Ryann that she has such negative body image despite being at a lean, healthy body weight and drawing the obvious attention of male suitors. She's obsessed with her appearance to the point that she restricts her food intake and insists on early morning runs no matter how late she goes to bed or how many dangers lurk on her path.

Sadly, this preoccupation with weight and shape can occur even to those women who are closer to society’s “ideal”, and I wonder if her negative body image is a manifestation of her poor overall sense of self after growing up without parents. Ryann lacks confidence in general, a vulnerability hiding beneath a hard exterior, and she funnels all that self-doubt into hating her body. They say that the love and acceptance of a romantic partner can improve body image, and I was pleased when Ryann begins focusing on more important aspects of her life as Quinn weaves himself into her world. It was good to see both characters grow as a result of their relationship.

Reading how things turned out in the end, I felt happy and satisfied. Overall a very enjoyable read by Lisa Sanchez!

Oh boy, what a book!
I started reading it this morning and just finished it. I simply couldn't put it away.
If you love fantasy books with little spice and spark in it, this is definetely a book for you!

I saw a review of this book on one of the blogs i follow and decided to buy it. I needed something else, little change in scenery from Young Adult books, something which was little more for grown people :)
I bought it on Friday, started reading it Friday late night and finished it Saturday. I had difficulties with putting it away and was seriously annoyed that I had some other things I needed to do for hours. I wanted to know how it ends.

This is a first book of Lisa Sanchez I have read and it is also her first book to write. You can find more information about her here: Lisa Sanchez homepage

Books starts with Ryann (the main character) thinking: All men are assholes.
Ryann is a university student who waits tables in a club Fire and Ice to make some extra money for her studies. She meets Quinn, who really annoyes her to begin with. Quinn seems to be of Irish origin, he is hot and sexy and there is something weird about him, which Ryann doesn't understand. Quinn brings different women to the club and leaves them there. None of the women remember why they came to the club and have no memory of the guy who brought them there.
At the same time, as Ryann's and Quinn's story develops, there is a stalker appearing, who is not human.
Ruann and Quinn need to work together to get rid of the mysterious threat that wants something from Ryann.
Quinn has a secret and a curse he needs to break and only Ryann's love can break it!

I loved the story plot! The author writes in a way, that it is very difficult to put this book away, you are curious and want to know how the story develops. I especially loved the connection and relationships between Ryann and Quinn. I just loved the way Quinn spoke. i have always had a soft spot for Irish and their way of speaking and here the author just hit the point!

I also liked other charcthers - Jennyfer and Martha who were Ryann's roommates and also mystical Gabriel. Rushing little ahead, all of these three are also appearing in the next book written by Lisa.

The book was easy to read, it was interesting and exciting and funny. I have to admit, I loved the descriptions of the sexual attraction between Ryann and Quinn!!!

For fantasy readers it is relly a book I would highly reccomend!

I loved how she could make a True pompous Arse of a character into one we can believe has a heart and is turning about his ways.

we met Quinn in a bar where is is "dumping" his latest conquest. He asks completely uninterested in her as she is practically shoving herself into him. He is an Irishman who acts arrogant and totally comes onto his server, the heroine, Ryann. She is highly offended and can barely hold back from taking his beer and dumping it all over him. Way to go Ryann!! Too bad for her that her body reacts quite the opposite to him, and he knows it.

when trouble seems to come at her in spades. When a dark force finds her walking out the alley behind the bar and looks right into her with its evil eye and simply utters "Mine" it chills her to the bone and knocks her out before she could barely scream. Quinn is somehow right there to protect her and she can easily sense when he is near. he helps her and from then on protects her every step, literally.

Things only get better as he seems to know more about her then she does him. One day when when they were discussing literature and she ends up reading about Irish Mythology it hits a little too close to home for Quinn. When she called a certain myth a man-whore it sends him reeling and furious. She later finds out there is much more to him then she thought.

As the story progresses and she gets to know Quinn she falls all the more for him, and he does for her. What she comes to find out is that Quinn's existence is almost up as what made him this way was only for a certain period of time. She vows to find a way to save him. When an unlikely encounter with her housemate revels an unlikely source that can help, she elects to ask and finds that help is only a room away.

When her evil force makes itself known by leaving a message in her apartment room, she is very shaken and feels insecure in her own dwelling. When the dark force shows up at her work and claims and takes her away and Quinn can't find her she gets some help from her housemate and he quickly goes to the rescue. But when the evil shifts into bigger forms and Quinn is at risk Ryann wastes no time in trying to protect and save Quinn.

The ending is very sweet and heartfelt. I loved how the pair came together and completely played right off each other. Making them a perfect match.

I must start by saying that at several times during this book you may need to 'fan oneself'.

I really enjoyed this tale of a young girl fighting against the evil, sexy forces of a dangerous man. This story involves the life of Ryann, a typical college student trying to get by and working in a bar to make money. She's used to attention from guys but when Quinn walks into the bar, she knows instantly what type of guy he is. He is a player. She just never realized how much of a player he could be.

Regardless of what her head is telling her, Ryann can't get away from Quinn. He seems to be around every corner and she doesn't seem to mind. Quinn has a way with words and he can't resist the urge to have Ryann.

But, Quinn is hiding the truth, that he is a Gancanagh, a supposed mythical being who's touch makes women go crazy, literally. This seems insane to Ryann at first but slowly she puts the pieces of the puzzle together and knows that Quinn is telling the truth. They spend time together and are forced to never touch. This creates a much deeper love and affection for the couple. Soon, Quinn must worry about more than just getting to know Ryann, he must find a way to protect her from the evil that seems to want her.

Ryann is a fabulous character. She's far from perfect and that makes her seem much more realistic. Quinn is an ancient legend so of course he is gorgeous. Oh, and he has a lovely accent. His curse has kept him away from connecting with humans for 500 years and he will do anything to keep Ryann safe.

I also loved reading about Ryann's roommates, Jessica and Martha. They were drastically different but they helped round out the story. It was easy to learn more about Ryann, just from knowing her best friend Jessica. I wish I would have read a little more interaction between the three of them.

Eve of Samhain puts a nice spin on a long-time mythical legend and the possibility of otherworldly creatures lurking around the corner. Lisa added many hilarious lines that will have you laughing out loud and deeply relating to the characters. The emotions, romance, and passion felt real throughout this book.

Let me just say that I fell in love with Ryann from the first sentence: All men are assholes. Ryann is my kinda girl; she's smart, witty, sarcastic and has a sharp tongue. When Ryann first meets Quinn at the club where she waitresses, their encounter is filled with Quinn's insulting compliments and Ryann's sarcastic retorts. What a great way to start a book. Ryann is the type of character who will give you the middle finger verbally and figuratively. I've made it no secret that I have little patience for heroines that are either too weak and whiny or too strong and independent. I like a heroine that is balanced and Ryann delivers. I appreciate a character that is self-reliant but is not afraid to ask for help.

Eve of Samhain pulled me in and did not let me go. Ryann's humor and witty retorts had me giggling throughout the book. I loved that the language/slang used flowed naturally; it did not feel forced. Throughout the book, Ryann constantly referred to her privates as "kitty" and once called it a "hoo-hah". That definitely made me laugh because I use the term "hoo hah" all the time. Quinn and Ryann's relationship developed naturally. Because of Quinn's curse, he could not have physical contact with Ryann. After a bumpy start, their relationship developed into a nice friendship that took its natural course and became more.

Final verdict: Eve of Samhain is a great debut novel. I see the potential for it to become a series thanks to great supporting characters,Ryann's roommates Jessica and Martha. We were teased with bits of information about Martha's past. There is definitely more there that I want to learn. I would have liked to learn more about why the demon was after Ryann. This book had all the elements: Celtic mythology, danger and suspense, romance, humor and sexual tension. I finished the book satisfied and wanting more.

I love paranormal romance; I can't seem to help myself. When I received a request to review Lisa Sanchez's Hanaford Park Series, I did not hesitate to accept.

In Eve of Samhain, Quinn is the legendary Gancanagh, a magnificent fae whose very touch seduces women. While he spent centuries not caring about the women he came in contact with, his attitude changes when he meets Ryann. Having fallen in love for the first time, he is determined to keep her safe from the dark being that stalks her, and to keep his hands off her so that she does not succumb to the curse that is his to bear.

Ryann finds Quinn to be nearly irresistible, but resist she does, for she doesn't wish to be one of his conquests. However, even without his touch, she soon finds herself falling head over heels in love. and she discovers that giving in to their mutual attraction, and the pleasure of being in love, is the only way to save Quinn from a terrible fate on the Eve of Samhain.

As Quinn fights to keep Ryann safe, and Ryann seeks the solution to Quinn's curse, will they accept that love is the answer, or will death claim one or both as their time runs out?

There was so much that I loved about this book. The story was fabulous. Sanchez weaves a beautiful story of love, fear, and triumph. The characters and plot line are well-developed, and it's steaminess factor is certainly way up there without being the focal point of the book (I hate to read stories that are entirely focused on the sex and lack well-developed plots- I mean, what's the point? This book certainly did not have that problem.)

This book was fun to read, and to be honest, I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting, and as soon as I finished, I started the second book in the series, Pleasures Untold. You'll have to wait until tomorrow to read about that one though.

I absolutely loved this story, which was told brilliantly by Lisa Sanchez. I couldn't stop reading this book until the end, and I didn't really want to stop then. I wanted more!

Ryann is a college student who works at a bar as a server and has a crazy busy life. She lives in an apartment with her best friend Jessica, and soon after the book starts a new roommate moves in with them. Her name is Martha and she dresses in black and has all kinds of crazy stuff in her room. Witch books and Jessica soon gets freaked out by her. Martha's attitude doesn't help matters much, either.

One night while Ryann is at work she meets a man she can't take her eyes off of. Of course he has a date, though. And she only liked him until he opened his mouth. He was a pigheaded jerk, conceited and just plain rude. Until she gets to know him and finds out his real story.

Quinn quickly becomes her friend, even though she longs for more from him. They become inseparable. But there's one twist, they can never touch each other because of Quinn's curse. Frustration surrounds them wherever they go because they both feel the pull toward each other, but can never act on it. I don't want to give away too much, but I just love how their story unfolds. Quinn is such a jerk when they meet, but soon becomes everything any woman would want. Protective, loyal and kind, he treats Ryann like he never has treated any other woman. What girl wouldn't love that? And as they grow together, I just love how their love develops and changes each of them because ultimately that is what true love should do.

This story was beautifully told and I would highly recommend it. The characters are definitely well developed and to me that is what makes a good story. Lisa Sanchez brought a great story to life, full of imagination and action-packed to boot.

As Ryann goes through trying to figure out why Quinn is so hot and cold towards her she ends up on a whirlwind journey that she was not expecting at all. With an undeniable connection Quinn tries to keep Ryann at arms length to protect her from himself. But not only does he have to protect Ryann from himself there is also a dark demon who has his eyes set on Ryann as well.

Trying to keep Ryann safe at all cost, Quinn will do anything he can to save her. Anything even if that means he has to cut himself off from her as well which is the last thing that Quinn wants to do. He has fallen hard for Ryann. He feels for her what he has never felt for anyone else.

Ryann cannot understand why Quinn won't express to her what she knows he feels. But she is willing to stand by Quinn no matter what because she knows that he loves her even if he won't express it. She just doesn't understand why he won't.

I absolutely devoured Eve of Samhain. An absolutely amazing read. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Hilariously written and amazing writing style. Lisa had me hooked from the very first page. I love the light hearted tone that this book had. A great balance of funny and serious raveled into one amazing book.

I love Ryann she is feisty and an amazingly strong heroine. She is absolutely hilarious and a great character to read about.

Quinn is everything I love about a main male character. He is strong sexy sensitive and very well natured. Protective in every sense that matters.

I cannot rave about this book enough!. Definitely a must read for me. If you love paranormal romance and a hilarious writing style then Lisa Sanchez is definitely a must read.

When I started reading Eve Of Samhain, my first thought was that it reminded me of Twilight. Here we have a pretty young girl that catches the eye of a tortured mystical soul. A forbidden love begins, but unlike Twilight, there are no shiny vampires and no muted language (always love that part). No critical scenes left to the imagination, and certainly no whiny heroine that doesn't fight back.

I found myself loving Ryann. She was a typical girl with everyday problems. She was a very strong character that wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. I admired that she had goals in her life and stuck with them. She also had one hell of a sense of humor and I got a kick out of her not being able to stop using colorful names for her vajayjay.

Quinn was a bit off the charts for me. While it was clear that he had a dominating personality, it was fun to see him portray the womanizing cad. With a face and body like his and centuries of women falling all over him, how could he not? His body oozed sex, but his mouth made you wanna punch his lights out. But as the story progressed, how could you not love him? He became perfect boyfriend material and turned out to be a decent guy.

I loved the friendship and romance that Ryann and Quinn had. I did have a boo hoo moment in the end because Lisa Sanchez created such a beautiful romance with these two. I just can't resist a good HEA (happily ever after) and this book gave me exactly that!
