Sexy, rich, and good in bed—chocolate is the ultimate indulgence. And Luscious Chocolate Desserts is the ultimate chocolate cookbook. Lori Longbotham, author of the best-selling Luscious Lemon Desserts , delivers more than 70 of the best recipes for tantalizing cakes, sumptuous tarts and pies, velvety puddings and souffles, plus melt-in-your-mouth cookies, ice cream, and candy—all with enough chocolate to satisfy even the deepest craving. Recipes run from simple-to-prepare chocolate pound cake and chocolate mousse pie to more elaborate desserts such as chocolate profiteroles with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce and the decadent mocha tiramisu. For those who don't know their cocoa from their cacao, this compendium for chocoholics educates readers from bean to bar, including how to choose from the many forms of chocolate available in today's markets, plus the basics of storing, chopping, melting, and—the best part—tasting them. Luscious Chocolate Desserts is pure chocolate satisfaction for proud chocolate lovers everywhere.
I appreciate book opening with a brief history and information/background about chocolate being given. There were some facts and helpful tips I had never been told/seen/read before, so it set a nice tone for the book.
The recipes cover every shape, form, flavor and size chocolate can come in and none are too complex or intimidating to consider trying. Almost every recipe has a gorgeous photo accompanying it that just makes you want to try the recipes out even more. I like how the author also shares the origin or a good tip with each recipe too. The recipe instructions are written very clearly so again...not intimidating and only further encouragement to be eating chocolate for every meal!
A book for chocolate lovers indeed~ The selection of recipes doesn’t disappoint. Love that the recipes are straightforward, beginner friendly and simple ingredients you can find in any grocery store. The photos for every recipe is a plus. Can’t wait to work my way through these 50 recipes~
This is the ABSOLUTE BEST book about chocolate (and I have several to compare to). All of the recipes are amazing. Most require minimal and simple ingredients. The Dark Chocolate Tart is one my favorite fall-back on desserts because it is so easy and quick to make, and it is very impressive. Top with a little cocoa powder and a scoop of homemade whipped cream--to die for. And the Chocolate Crinkle recipe is really good too. Everything is good. If you like baking with chocolate, this is the one book you have to have.
This book is a winner for pastry professionals and home bakers. I highly recommend trying the Chocolate Panna Cotta. It is suburb. On page 51, there is a typo for the Perfectly Simple Dark Chocolate Tart. For the filling, 1 cup of heavy cream was missed as an ingredient. Lori Mongbotham's official website noted the omission. Glad they told us! Once you buy one of Lori's books, you will find yourself seeking others to purchase.
The recipes are clear, well written and for those of you who like pictures, she provides beautiful ones for each recipe.
i'm not a huge reader, but i have to confess i love reading recipes. This book has fabulous photos and the recipes look superb. I can't wait to try some soon...I'm hoping to make the chocolate tart (on the cover) and pots de creme to name a few. yum!
I've made three of the recipes in this book and they were all exquisite. I didn't use the fancy chocolate either. Hershey's works wonderfully in whatever incarnation is called for.
