Dark Dream the 7th book in the Dark series by Christine Feehan, is an adorably sweet short story about Falcon and Sara. Falcon was one of several ancients that Mikhail's father, Prince Vladimir sent out to protect the world, unbeknownst to Mikhail and the others. Falcon was a male of great honor. He was making his way home to see his homeland one more time before greeting the dawn, when he found his lifemate Sara. He wasn't controlling and gave Sara choices. He treated her like a partner from the start. Which was a rare and refreshing thing to read in a series full of controlling alpha males. Not that Falcon was weak or less alpha. Falcon had great power and could kick ass with the best of them. Sara was a wonderful character. Sara was psychometry (she can get info by touching a object). When Sara was 15 she found a diary on a dig with her parents, knew it was for her from her soulmate, her lifemate. When she touched it she could see Falcon. Reading that diary with letters written to her, and what she was see when she touched it, let Sara get to know, and fall in love with Falcon before she ever met him. So Sara has been in love with her Dream lover, her lifemate since she was a teen, she just believed she was born to late to be with him.
"I have been yours for the last fifteen years. If you want me, Falcon, I'm not afraid. I've never really been afraid of you." -Sara
"Is this what you want, Sara? Am I what you want? Be certain of this - it is no easy thing. Conversion is painful." Falcon tightened his hold on her possessively, but he had to tell her the truth. "Being without you is more painful."-Falcon and Sara
Sara and Falcon's story was a low drama, sweet, quick read. Sara and Falcon were very loving and accepting of each other right away. It may have been short but it didn't feel like it was lacking anything. We also get to see how Mikhail, Raven, Jacques, and Shea are doing. I loved seeing the sweet happy place the past couples are in especially Jacques. I also really liked getting a peek at Vladimir. I kinda wish CF would write a story for Vladimir and his lifemate. I loved this book it was a great read!
We will have many children to love in the coming years. Whatever your dream, it is mine. We will have a home and we will fill it with children and laughter and love.-Falcon

Falcon and Sara
I am Falcon and I will never know you, but I have left this gift behind for you, a gift of the heart.
Sara fell in love with Falcon before she even met him. Her secret talent is to know the history of an object when she touches it. When she was a teenager, she discovered an old diary with letters of a man written for his lifemate. This man was Falcon and although Sara fell in love with him, she thought that they could never be together. Surely even if Falcon was alive, he would be too old for her.
Sara’s parents have been killed by an evil vampire and nowadays she has been in Romania helping some homeless children with psychic powers. One night they are saved from the evil vampire by a stranger, i.e. Falco who just came back to Romania.
Sara recognises her soulmate from the old diary, but she does not trust him immediately.

I had all kind of emotions running through me while reading the love-story of Falcon and Sara.Falcon is a hunter and destroyer of the undead and have lived alone all these centuries.His loneliness cut through me and i found myself caring for his finally deserved happiness.Sara was a fighter who had found Falcon`s journal after her parents death and knew she was destined to be with Falcon.They were so beautiful and sweet together that i found myself sighing "AHWWWW" all the time.It was also so much fun meeting the former main characters since i started this series with them and ohh do i want to read the stories of the legendary twinbrothers Lucian and Gabriel-i mean they are THE MOST POWERFUL AND ANCIENT of all the living carpathians now-so their story will be epic!Can`t wait!!

Dark Dream es de las típicas medias entregas que normalmente se insertan en las series largas, pero a pesar de las pocas páginas, no le falta nada. La autora fue muy hábil en el argumento, específicamente en la forma que se “conocieron” Sara y Falcon, para que la relación no se sintiera precipitada; por el contrario, fue muy natural.
Me gustó la vuelta a ese ambiente tremendamente oscuro de los primeros libros, que se había perdido un poco con las historias de los Carpatianos que viven en Estados Unidos. También me gustó la inserción de un nuevo grupo de guerreros -anteriores a la época del actual Príncipe- y los motivos de su destierro. Por lo mismo, es un libro imprescindible para los que leen esta saga en orden.
Me gustó la vuelta a ese ambiente tremendamente oscuro de los primeros libros, que se había perdido un poco con las historias de los Carpatianos que viven en Estados Unidos. I absolutely loved this one! It was refreshingly different. Sara didn't fight the mating bond or keep trying to be independent and Falcon wasn't too bossy. They were so sweet together- a perfect match! I loved seeing Mikhail, Raven, Jacques and Shea again! The only thing missing was my boyfriend Gregori!

This is a meaty little short story. It definitely has an insta-love vibe, I think most out of all the Carpathian novels. But the story has a lot to offer despite that. Falcon is one of the original Carpathian warriors sent out by the previous Prince Vladimir, which means he's at least a thousand years old. It's amazing that he's held onto his honor and Carpathian sense of ethics and not turned vampire. I like to think that the fact that Sara was out there in the future was one of the reasons he didn't give in, but he's very, very close to turning when he senses his Lifemate. Sara has been stalked by a vampire who killed her whole family for fifteen years. She's stayed one step ahead of him, traveling the globe and helping orphaned children. She meets Falcon and he realizes that she's his lifemate. She realizes that he's the male she's been in love with since she found his journal on one of her archaeologist parent's digs. The romance part is the easy part. The difficult part is keeping Sara safe from the vampire.
This book is full of action and some horror elements with the despicable vampire and his zombie-like human servants. While I like the romance aspects, I find the whole Carpathian culture thing very interesting. It was great to touch base with with Mikhail and Raven and Jacques and Shea. Jacques is a lot more stable than he once was. He's definitely benefited from having a lifemate in Shea. I read this after reading Dark Descent, out of the Dark Nights book. Feehan is developing the whole storyline about the Carpathians trying to find a reason for their infertility and infant mortality, and slowly but surely recruiting assets in their cause. Gary shows up briefly, and it's making me excited to read Dark Promises.
I have no issues with this book. It was a solid read.

THIS BOOK WAS HORRIBLE. Can I give it "Zero" stars? This is the second book in the series that I attempted to read. I tried the first book in the series twice on Audio book but could not get through it. So I loaded it on my reader to put my own voice to it didn't even make it half way through.
The thing is I have an Android phone and I can only download audio books from the library that are in MP3 format. I was looking for a book to listen to while I worked out and this one was available and in MP3 format so I figured I would give it a shot. I mean the first book in a lot of series can sometimes suck but things get better as the series progresses right?? WRONG!!!
Let me just say my workouts have never been so painful. Seriously, the only good thing I can say about this book is that it was not longer.
Here is the Synopsis: She’s known him since she was fifteen. Every night, he is with her: his face, his voice. Tonight, Sara Marten will meet the man who is both angel and demon, salvation and temptation: Falcon—the Carpathian, the banished hero. Tonight, Sara will meet the dark-eyed destroyer destined to be her mate.
Here is what actually happens:
-Depressed lonely Carpathian sees girl in alley way, decides she is his lifemate
-Depressed lonely Carpathian follows girl home, they have sex.
-Depressed lonely Carpathian tells girl who/what he is, she knows him, she's had his diary for years, they have sex again.
-After knowing this guy for I don't know hours, Sara is in love and wants to become a Carpathian... I forgot she had his diary so she's known him for years. They have sex.
-After they have sex again he sends her to the mountains BY HERSELF to find his people, knowning that there is a crazy vampire chasing her.
-Vampire kidnaps her children to try and capture her (DUH, I mean since she's travelling by herself why not attack her)
-She gets rescued, meets a few more Carpathians and completes her transformation.
-Depressed lonely Carpathian now has a lifemate and is happy. They have sex.
-Vampire gets killed. They have sex. They live happily ever after.
I think what ticked me off about this book is that I like for my paranormal romance books to also have a plot. Something has to be going on besides a human screwing an immortal. The plot in this book was a complete after thought and the way it was carried out was a joke. What the author should have done, was just created an erotic book with no plot at all. Just make it about a human girl having sex with a Carpathian. The end.
Also what annoyed me was the extremely unrealistic way that they fell in love so fast. Again I read a lot of paranormal romance so I understand the fantasy aspect of it. But this book was just over the top. I mean at one point these two had to breathe for each other? Seriously?
If all of the books in the series are like this I'm done.

This was a great story. I loved both Sara and Falcon and their story was great.
Sara is a human woman with some special abilities. She learned of Falcon through her abilities 15 years ago and although she felt a strong connection with him, she thought he was dead and gone and she'd never meet him. Around the same time, a vampire found Sara and her family...killing her family and then chasing Sara for 15 years as she tried to evade him.
Falcon is an ancient Carpathian male; Carpathians are born vampires with abilities like shape shifting (to any form, even mist), magic spells and psychic powers. The males of the Carpathians have a darkness in them and if they don't find their lifemates, they can lose their souls and become evil. Falcon has held on to his honor and duty for centuries but finds he's fading into darkness. He was headed home for one last visit before he commits suicide instead of turning into an undead (evil) vampire.
Falcon is out feeding when he has a woman (Sara) try to warn him of some human thugs (which are no threat to a Carpathian). The warning might have been unneeded but Falcon is intrigued anyways because the sight and sound of the woman brought back his emotions and his ability to see colors (a sure sign a Carpathian has found his lifemate). The thugs attack and Falcon ends up feeding on them, not realizing that Sara had come back, and she sees him feeding. She freaks, thinking he's an evil vampire (she doesn't know the difference between Carpathians and the undead) so she runs from him. Falcon chases her down and eventually is able to find her and calm her down.
Once they talk things through, Sara and Falcon do really well together. She's pretty accepting of the difference between Carpathians and undead vampires and is very level headed when it comes down to it. Since she's known of Falcon for years, once she realizes who he is and that he's not evil, she's willing to trust him. Falcon was actually pretty unusual for a Carpathian male as he actually asked Sara for her opinion and gave her a choice in things as they dealt with their budding relationship and the issue of the vampire that's still trying to capture Sara. They end up in the Carpathian mountains and with some help from Jacques, Mikhail and their lifemates, they're able to take out the vampire that's after Sara. Once that's taken care of, Sara and Falcon end the story starting a well deserved HEA together.
This was a greatly enjoyable story. I think Sara is one of the best heroines in this series so far. She was strong, smart and level headed and I really liked her. Falcon was a great hero...he was very modern for a Carpathian male...maybe because he spent so much time out in the world among humans. Overall, this was a great story and I'd recommend it. :D

I absolutely loved this edition to the Dark series! It was short, but not missing anything important. However, it was blissfully missing the filler that seems to exist in some of her longer novels.
Falcon was different than the Carpathian male's that have come before him in the previous novels. He was surprisingly NOT overbearing and intractable. Some of that may have had to do with his awesome lifemate, Sara. She totally kicked ass. Not in the beat people up way, although she was pretty tough, but in the way that allowed her to accept Falcon and his people without all of the ridiculous pushing away. These two allowed me to sit back and enjoy the love story without all of the angst. There was drama, but not so much that it became too long and drawn out. The was also the reemergence of Mikail, Raven, Jacques and Shea. Great to see the band back together!

These two allowed me to sit back and enjoy the love story without all of the angst. There was drama, but not so much that it became too long and drawn out. The was also the reemergence of Mikail, Raven, Jacques and Shea. Great to see the band back together!

I cannot believe I didn't find this book sooner! It's perfect.
I love both H/h, I even like the way the villain is written. H/h are both so strong and so madly in love with eachother, I could read on and on about their story. This one is definitely too short to do them fully justice. I dare to say that all the action rivals my liking for the heartwarming romance.
I read I recommend. :)

As the story begins, we learn that long ago, Mikail's father sent out several warriors of the Carpathian race to journey around the world and fight the vampire threat. No one knew about these men or their mission. Falcon was one of those warriors. He's been alive for more than a millennium and never thought he would find a lifemate, so far from his people. He feels like he is unable to fight the growing darkness within him for much longer, so he decides to return to the Carpathian Mountains one last time to see his homeland before he takes his life.
Just before that happens, he meets Sara. And suddenly, his world is in color again. Sara is on the run from the vampire who killed her family 15 years ago. She has the psychic ability to touch objects and see their history. So when she found a journal Falcon wrote hundreds of years ago, she saw his face, his struggle and his loneliness. And she knew he was destined to be her love. She's carried him in her heart for more than a decade, as she's worked to elude the vampire stalking her. Once she comes face to face with Falcon, there is no doubt for either of them that their destinies are entwined.
In addition to learning about the ancient Carpathians like Falcon, we learn more about lycanthropes and the jaguar people. (Females of both species eventually come into play as potential lifemates.) And for the first time we hear about the wizards and the existence of an ancient book hidden in the caves. This is a huge story arc in later books... and it all started here.
I like Falcon more than most Carpathian males. He is much less overbearing and pushy than a lot of the other heroes in this series. The words "dark dream" give "velvet" a run for its money, with both appearing six times in the 70 pages. (Christine Feehan finds a phrase she likes and sticks with it.) 4 stars.

"Dark Dream", Sara and Falcon's book is a short story in the Carpathian series.
Ever since she was 15, Sara has been fascinated by an ancient (love) book which calls out to her, and knows is written for her.
Years later she works to save the orphan kids in Russia, when a vampire who's been chasing her for ages attacks and she's rescued by the man who's she's dreamt about for ages.
It's instant chemistry between the two- however they have to return to the Carpathian Mountains- as Falcon our hero is an ancient and needs help from his people to defeat the vampire.
I loved the yearning and the concept of soulmates through ages, but however since this was a short story everything was rushed.

I have been looking for this book for a long time as it is one of the few that I have missed reading in this series. I always wanted to know more about Falcon and Sara, who feature in many of the books so extremely happy to start reading their story.
After being away from his beloved home in the Carpathian Mountains, Falcon feels the darkness growing in his soul and has decided to return home to face his death.
Sara, having witnessed her entire family being killed by an evil vampire, has been on the run for 15 years trying to stay ahead and avoid being killed or even worse, being turned into a vampire.
She’s been in Romania trying to adopt some homeless children with psychic powers, and one night in the dark alleys are saved by Falco from the evil vampire.
Falco is overcome with the colors he can see and the feelings he has…something he has not experienced for hundreds of years and realizes that Sara is his lifemate.
Sara feels a very strong and emotional connection to Falco, who she feels she has known him all her life but she’s afraid to trust anyone after being on the run for so many years.
I loved these two characters. Falco, the loyal, honest, caring and lonely warrior who is finally able to feel and find his loved lifemate. Sara is the perfect match for him. She’s brave, caring, resilient and determined to keep her children, Falco and his family safe from the evil that follows her everywhere.
The story is set in the Carpathian Mountains and we get to see characters that I have come to know and love, again. And it so happens that this is my favorite setting in this series. Mikhail and Raven’s home is filled with warmth and love. Shea and Jacques. So much love in this family.
And the descriptions of the underground Carpathian healing caverns where the Carpathians are healed is absolutely amazing.

Sara Martin tries to save Falcon from street thugs. She attacks the leader and runs away. Falcon stays. He is swamped by colors and emotions. The street thugs attack, but Falcon easily subdues the one with the pipe. Next, he grabs the thug in the orange shirt, drinking his adrenaline-laced blood. Sara comes back to try to save Falcon a second time. When Falcon turns toward her, she sees the flames in his eyes and his fangs. She sees the blood leaking down the thug's neck. Sara runs for her life thinking she has attracted the vampire who had slain her family.
There is so much more I could summarize about this novella, but I will stop here. Sara is a woman who has run from a vampire for fifteen years, always slipping away just ahead of him. Falcon is a Carpathian hunter who has lived for over 1,500 years. He was on his way home to the Carpathian mountains to report to Prince Mikhail, and then walk into the sun. I will admit that at first I was furious to see that the next book would be about people we did not know a thing about while still so many amazing characters have not had their chance at a HEA yet. Then I realized it was a novella and not a whole book, which infuriated me even more, for I usually try not to read them. But goodreads had it numbered as part of the series, as if it was a whole book, so I had to read it.
I'm glad I did, and it also helped me understand the reason this is numbered as another book in the series. While short, this was a great read. It had many of the things we love about the series and being introduced to this 2 new characters ended up being something really positive. I really like the part they will be playing in the background story. Still, their story felt rushed and shallow. I ended up loving them and wishing they had a longer book.
I'm glad I did, and it also helped me understand the reason this is numbered as another book in the series. While short, this was a great read. I definitely enjoyed getting to revisit Mikhail/Raven and Jacques/Shea in Romania.
Falcon was an interesting character and it was cool to learn about the unknown elders who were sent around the world by Mikhail's father.
As much as I've enjoyed this series, I have been forced to space the books out due to similarity of formula. Most of the time it is independent woman (human or Carpathian) fighting her feelings for the domineering H who basically wants to go caveman on her.
We don't get much of that here due to the shorter format. I should have been glad (apparently I can't be pleased). It seemed like the couple went too fast, declaring their love almost instantly. I know there was a back story and the h 'sort of' knew the H from a diary she had found on an archeological dig. Still there relationship felt very rushed. The best part was definitely Falcon's back story and the revisit to the Carpathian Mtns.
Interestingly this is the first audio in the series where the narrator has attempted a Romanian accent for the H. They probably fear it will sound too cheesy Dracula-like. But, it wasn't overdone in this case.

Omg finally a good book!!! I liked the the princes, dark one, and golden ones story...Julian and book six were torture!!!
But this was refreshing!!! The man was cultured and the woman wasn't a nit wit. Also we finally get all the characters together! Thank god. I was worried cause every story was getting to be the same--

If you are looking at ratings from me, always add one star for the novellas to compare to others. I do not like novellas and only read those that are part of a series that I read. This is a great story as part of the Dark series and would have made a great novel especially if the children were made part of the plot and introduced and given some part of the story. The only way to keep this story the length required to be part of an anthology was to skimp on details and to rush parts of the plot. I miss those details. I like big books and I cannot lie. For a novella though it met all the required points and moved the overall series forward.

A very boring romance. It’s well-written in the technical sense, in that the sentence structures, grammar, etc., are fine, and the idea is also there.
However, the execution is so boring, my MIND was falling asleep as I read it. Of course, this is a matter of taste.
Let me put it another way: let’s say that you’re listening to a singer. Technically, she knows how to sing, carry a tune, control her breathing, etc., but her singing voice does nothing for you. This was like that. I was just extremely bored the entire time, but…it wasn’t a boring story?

I loved this one! It was so great because the plot was so different than the other ones. Falcon is a completely new character and we get to see a little more of what happened before the current time frame. Sarah, instead of being the hesitant, unknowing lifemate, makes choices that affect both of them in such a way as to show her complete and utter trust. I also love the fact that Sarah has been dreaming of Falcon. The whole story was no longer really a surprise invasion from a guy. It really was a true love story and we as the readers can see that through how they interact with each other. I was impressed with how Feehan has the new characters and the old interacting. It shows how good she is at weaving threads of a story together. I know this is shorter than my normal reviews, but that is totally my fault because I didn't write this as soon as I finished the book. Hopefully, you get the idea that I read this and it is absolutely one that I think women would love to read. It is one of my favorites in this series. Enjoy!

Witnessing a vampires evil, the being hunted by that vampire for 15 years, left Sara Marten more aware than most humans of what can be. Having her own dark angel to help her through the traumatic events in her life even if it was just an image to hold in her mind, words to hold in her heart, she was able to eluded that evil. The words had been written centuries ago, Falcon never realized they had the power to help anyone but himself. Finding each other would call the ancient vampire to them both, leaving everyone around them in danger.
Book 7.…. Slightly shorter story then normal, but lacking in nothing. Nice to see a gentler Carpathian man, he let her make the chooses, she made them freely and without hesitation. Exciting to meet an ancient older than Mikhail, to revisit him, Raven, Jacques, Shea and the Carpathian Mountains.

This far in the seried, this is my favorite story. I don't know why I connect more with this one than I did the others, I just did. I love Falcon, he isn't overbearing, or pushy when it comes to Sara, and he treats her as his equal. Sara is the perfect Heroine. She's strong, she's resourceful, and she's levelheaded. I love that the series is back in Europe, back in the Carpathian mountains.

Dark Dream was a great addition to the Carpathian novels. I really enjoyed Falcon and Sara's story especially since some old friends where added into the mix. It was such a pleasant surprise to have Prince Mikhail & Raven along with Jacques & Shea back. Dark Dream might not have been as long as the other novels in the Dark series but trust me it was just as entertaining and sexy as hell........

I was gonna take a break from the series and then I took a peek at Dark Dream. Smh
Loved this novella. It was short but wonderful. It tells of Falcon, a warrior in the time of Vlad, Mikhail’s father, who was sent out to protect the world from the looming threats of vampires before the wars started.
For millennia Falcon lived a lonely, sad existence, doing what his former prince asked of him. Just when he realized that he needed to return to the Carpathians to meet the dawn because he was closer to turning, he meets Sara, his lifemate.
Sara’s family was killed by a vampire who was chasing her 15 years earlier. He has been hunting her since. Her superpower is that she cannot be located. She can hide herself and is resistant to compulsion.
When she was fifteen she found a box of scrolls with letters from Falcon that were meant for her. As she translated them, she found herself falling in love with a man from the past. Imagine her surprise when that same man shows up on her doorstep!
What I love about this book, other than how short, but amazingly well written it is, is Sara’s acceptance of Falcon and her eagerness to change to be like the man she loves.
The other h’s in the earlier books always fought the inevitable. It was a bit tedious to read after the first couple books. Also, there’s a cameo by Mikhail and Raven and Jacques and Shea. I’ve been waiting for them to pop-up in a book and they finally did.
I think this may be my favorite book of the series so far. Love Falcon and Sara and their seven kids.

Sara has been on the run from a vampire for 15 years, he murdered her family and she has been on the run ever since but she is protective over the children she has bonded with. She then runs into Falcon, who is a Carpathian who for hundreds of years was sent by the father of their prince to be warriors and face eternity alone. He never imagined he would find his lifemate.....but Sara is his. Only Sara has a vampire who is hunting her and it will take working with the prince and his brother to bring him down.
I really had a fun time with Dark Dream and I was so happy to find the audiobook for this one since I love this narrator for this series. They had a great connection, and the banter that we see among Mikhail and Jacque was super neat. I loved that this was a bit earlier in the series. And the third act kept me on edge from beginning to end. So I had a blast with this one here.

One of my favourites in this series.
I love the romance of this story. The box, the diary written by Falcon all those years ago.

Then we have all the children that Sara has saved and the ones they save together.
The tension is great and you find yourself riding along with them on this journey.
I have owned most of the books in this series for ages, love rereading them but the reviews written and posted from the back of the books have disappeared, so I am reviewing again as I read them this time.

Love those Carpathians!!
This one is right up there on my favorites list. Sara knew about Falcon since she was 15 and a vampire destroyed her family. She knew they were destined to be together and didn't fight Falcon about the ritual. And he did not try to compel or order her to follow his orders. A refreshing story for a perfect couple. Sweet. I loved that it brought us Raven. Mikhail, Shea and Jacques again. I love when they show up. It was great that Falcon got to go home (Carpathian Mountains) after centuries of being gone and take Sara and her rescues (children) with him. Another fantastic Carpathian story. Highly recommend.
