About the Author:
Meg Cabot is the author of the best-selling, critically acclaimed, immensely popular Princess Diaries novels, as well as All-American Girl, Haunted, and two Regency novels, Nicola and the Viscount and Victoria and the Rogue. Meg was born in Bloomington, Indiana, and her childhood was spent in pursuit of air conditioning, of which there was little at the time in southern Indiana. A primary source proved to be the Monroe County Public Library, where Meg whiled away many hours, reading the complete works of Jane Austen, Judy Blume, and Barbara Cartland.
Armed with a fine arts degree from Indiana University, Meg moved to New York City, intent upon pursuing a career in freelance illustration. Illustrating, however, soon got in the way of Meg's true love, writing, and so she abandoned it and got a job as the assistant manager of an undergraduate dormitory at New York University, writing on the weekends,and whenever her boss wasn't looking.
Meg lives in New York City with her husband, Benjamin, a poet, financial market writer and fellow Hoosier, and their one-eyed cat, Henrietta.

Eu tinha dito a mim mesma que não amoleceria na hora de avaliar este livro em particular, mas como não ser sentimental avaliando essa série? Dos quatro volumes que eu li até agora, este foi o que eu menos gostei. Até a metade, ele foi incrivelmente maçante e repetitivo; depois da metade... bem, um pouco menos. E vou admitir agora: caso não se tratasse d'O diário da Princesa, eu provavelmente teria dado 2 estrelas sem nem pestanejar.
Mas, cara... ainda que o quarto livro não tenha feito jus aos anteriores, eu ainda gosto muito da história e da série, e meu descontentamento com este volume não vai me impedir de ler os próximos sete. Seria difícil, de qualquer modo, que dentre dez/onze livros, não houvesse ao menos um que fosse menos empolgante (eu, por exemplo, amo Desventuras em Série com todo o coração, mas nada me convence de que absolutamente todos os livros foram maravilhosos) e, apesar dos pesares, ainda é muito legal acompanhar o aprendizado e o crescimento da Mia -- e 'Princesa à espera' é principalmente sobre isso.
(O ruim, agora, é que esse é o último dos volumes que eu tenho em casa, AHAHA. Talvez eu vá precisar me virar sem Meg Cabot por enquanto...)

Love this series, had to read the rest of the series. There's a lot more stuff that they don't talk about in the teenage version, more adult concepts so it's nice.

O primeiro livro, “A Princesa Apaixonada” fluiu bastante para mim. A Mia percebendo por quem ela realmente é apaixonada, algo que era meio evidente nos livros anteriores, foi um marco e tanto. Só que a insegurança dela é incapaz de deixar que ela veja as coisas como são, que às vezes nem são tão sutis assim.
Quando Mia e Michael finalmente se declaram parece que tudo está no seu lugar, o início de um sonho… até que veio o meu pior pesadelo: “A Princesa à Espera”, um livro arrastado e repetitivo, que quase me fez desistir da saga.
Sabemos que Mia é uma adolescente insegura, e, depois de se relacionar com o Michael, ela o coloca em uma posição nada saudável. Tudo é motivo para achar que ele vai terminar com ela!
O livro melhora depois que ela volta para New York – para mim, a parte de Genovia não acrescentou muita coisa além de me fazer passar raiva, foi extensa demais e não deveria. Aqui fica mais evidente que a Mia não sabe externalizar os sentimentos dela e isso a consome demais, fora os problemas com ansiedade que ela aparentemente tem de ficar criando cenários catastróficos o tempo todo.
Ler o segundo não foi uma experiência tão boa assim, mas confesso que o final me deixou com o coração quentinho.

Eu adoro o humor dessa série. Acho tão engraçado acompanhar a Mia e todos os seus pensamentos, mesmo sendo muito jovem. Adoro todo o drama dela. É um livro curtinho e pra se divertir.

I did like the third and fourth books better than the first two. I am still waiting to see more growth and development in these characters though. I hope to see Mia mature more as the series continues.

So far this book does not diverge very much from the first. There seems to be no real plot, and I find it very hard to continue straight through without reading other books in between chapters.
Two stars is my final scoring for the book. It is a very fast read. Like I said before, my problem is a have taken to reading other books or writing papers in in-between chapters.

I really hate every single book in this series--they all read like an idle 1997 IM chat session between two 13 year-olds. No matter how old Mia gets it's still the same tone, no growth or maturity.
