I feel a bit weird rating this. It's one of my favourite childhood books, I read it when I was about 8 years old and was absolutely in love with it. It's a very charming and magical little story, and I did enjoy revisiting it. Doesn't really hold up anymore, but I wasn't expecting it too.
I can remember looking up at the night sky, wishing I could fly up into the stars...
Sometimes, when your brain feels a bit fuzzy from deadlines, the only thing you can comprehend reading is the cosiest most nostalgic series from your childhood.
Even now I still remember looking up to the stars, and saying the phrase. Wishing more than anything that I could disappear into stardust for the night.
Recently, I have been reading some of my favourite childhood books, with Linda Chapman being the author to the majority of them! The Stardust series holds a special place in my heart as I so dearly wished to be a Stardust spirit when I was younger and would often reenact the adventures with my friends.
When Lucy first meets her new neighbours Allegra and her mother Xanthe, they could sense something was special about Lucy and so invite her round for dinner that night. It is then that Lucy discovers the world of Stardust spirits and discovers that she too is a Stardust spirit. Stardust spirits are very special as they have a strong connection with the natural world, wanting to help protect the environment and all its creatures. Lucy, with the help of Allegra and her new friends Ella and Faye, spend their nights playing around in the woodlands and learning about their special powers and how they can use them to help the surrounding environment.
This series has so many important messages, with protecting and looking after the environment and animals being a key one. Friendship is also an incredibly important theme, with the girls discovering that they are stronger when they are all together. I loved the way that each book develops more and leads into the next one, with Lucy's powers becoming stronger than before. I'm desperate to read the last 2 books of the series but I don't own them and so I'm desperately trying to hunt them down as I need to know how the series ends!!!
I read this book #chapteraday with my 5 year old daughter. she liked it very much. The best part about this book is its care for nature , and of course the element of magic ✨ for kids it's easy to understand, and has beautiful illustrations.
I used to love these books, and after finding them in the attic decided to re-read them due to nostalgia. You wanna know a secret?...I used to think the storyline was true *cringe*. Of course these books are aimed at young kids but I still enjoyed the story! I found this first one in the series a bit boring though...it was generally an introduction.
I can assure you that many girls aged between maybe 7-10 would like these books! I certainly did back then. I read this very quickly because of the very simple and easy yet surprisingly descriptive language - perfect for early readers.
Beautiful story and truly captures the magic of childhood. We read this to our 6 year old and the story stayed with all of us. She recently asked us for this book again which we needed to track down as originally it was a library book. We will try to find the entire series and read all the books. We also recently ordered her new series called Star friends which looks amazing and our (now) 7 year old can’t wait to read them! Highly recommended!
I first read this book when I was 10. I know that it's a bit late to start reading them, and it took me half a day to finish, but two years later I'm still in love with these books as much as I was when I first read them. I'm reading much older books now, but these books will always have special place in my heart.
Honestly, I thought I’d never find this book again. I listened to the audiobook when I was 9 for bedtime stories and absolutely fell in love. It was so wonderful and magical, it made me want to write my own stories, create my own worlds. I must pick it up again one day, I hope it’d be as good as I remembered.
I read this when I was younger, I know it's a girly book but the cover looked interesting so I decided to read it, to my surprise it was actually good I may even try go read the other Linda Chapman books.
This was my favourite childhood book! It takes me to magical world, I could remember how I look up at the sky and wish I could be like Lucy and have magic at all! If you don’t ever read this, you’re lose one of the best experience as a child
sometimes you just need to re-read one of your favourite book series as a child i’ve been trying to find these books again for years and i’m so glad i’ve finally found them again and can live my nostalgic childhood dreams
I read this when I was about 8 years old. For a long time this was one of my favorite book series. I think this is a great book if you want to get your child into reading.
Foi o livro que me fez apaixonar pela leitura e querer começar a ler por livre vontade. A minha mãe ofereceu-me no dia de S. Valentim quando era criança. ❤️
