The synopsis promises you a tale of adventure and glittering romance. What you will get is a story of a women stuck in an ugly, abusive marriage and is drained of all life by the last page.

Spoilers

After a few passionate embraces, Luke(the priest,), exits the book and returns at the end to give last rites. There is some sort of crutch at the end for Amy(hea with the doctor), but it's hardly convincing, esp considering how many pregnancies, miscarriages and marital rape this woman endures.

Gritty and unexpected.
