Katherine O'Neal, winner of the Romantic Times Award for Best Sensual Historical Romance, unveils a spectacular new novel of romantic adventure -- a tantalizing tale of a notorious pirate, a rebellious beauty, and a dangerously erotic duel of hearts...

Master of Paradise

As the privateer bore down on her ship, Gabrielle Ashton-Cross recognized all too well the magnificent, leonine figure at its prow. Once, she had resisted his arrogant passion, had survived his betrayal to become the toast of London. And even now she might escape him, for her sword was like lightning. Yet the moment their gazes locked across the rolling deck, she knew that Rodrigo Soro had every intention of taming her to his will at last. Gabrielle hadn't journeyed so far from home to fulfill a lifelong dream only to surrender to a pirate king. But this time when he took her in his arms, would she have the strength to fight the only man who could ever promise her paradise?

This story had everything I value in a book - excellent plot - great writing - adventure - passionate sizzling love scenes - in depth characterization - and a believable intense, passionate love between 2 people who have known one another since children.

Rodrigo Soto is the last in line in a notorious family of Pirates. At the age of 13 he watched his father hang, then was snatched away from his home in the Indian Ocean by a grand gesture by the English Duke of Breckenridge.
Gabrielle Ashton-Cross, the bastard daughter of the Duke, developed a bond with this strange dead eyed boy which grew into a passionate consuming love over the years.

This was so beautifully written, it fires the imagination when seychelles and its surrounding islands are described. This is were most of the story takes place. Again, when it touches on of the horrors of the slave trade, it does it well. Where it fails is the romance which starts of strong but plunges into one annoying episode after another. This is all on the heroine being all action no brain. I think it's supposed to be her 'passionate' nature. My very worst type of heroine. You notice I don't have much to say for the hero. Other than a magnificant freedom fighter who is duped by the h multiple times there isn't much. The last 20% I literally had to skim to avoid a dnf.
