Clan, Love, and War Jeannie's battle to reclaim her heritage and defend her heart.

When Jeannie lets Sven into her life despite the ban on gargoyles, she risks the wrath of the local vampire coven. The only thing keeping them from driving her family out of town is the grace of their leader, Soren. But with Soren missing, the vampires are on the warpath.

Things only become more complicated when she's whisked away by a gargoyle clan that claims she’s the lost heir of their previous king, her grandfather, who was violently deposed by the current king. King Gabriel wants to marry her to unite his splintering clan, divided between those loyal to him and those devoted to the previous royal line. The clan’s unity becomes more imperative as the local vampire coven blames Jeannie for Soren’s disappearance, and they enlist the help of other vampire covens to demand Gabriel’s clan turn her over.

If he refuses, war is inevitable. Jeannie must solve the mystery of what happened to Soren and decide what’s more important—her duty to prevent war, whatever the cost, even if it means marrying Gabriel, or her growing feelings for Sven.

Gargoyles and Vampires are mortal enemies. A treaty prevents gargoyles from living in St. Augustine but Jeannie and her family are allowed because they have the protection of vampire leader Soren. When Soren goes missing that protection is gone so Jeannie and her family must flee their home. They portal to a gargoyle clan in Brazil. It turns out that Jeannie and her family belong to this clan. The thought of being in a clan affects the group in different ways. Jeannie and her siblings have never had a clan so they excited to have one to call their own. For Sven it just reminds him of why he had to leave his own clan. There is a great deal of political intrigue and infighting within the clan and Jeannie and her siblings are ill prepared to handle it. Despite this Jeannie makes a decision that will protect her clan but cause her personal heartache. Events at the end of the book throw everything into turmoil. I cannot wait to see how everything plays out. I highly recommend this series. The books should be read in order.

Jeannie and her siblings are whisked away to a gargoyle clan where she learns she might be the heir to the throne. Jeannie and crew are thrown into the middle of a political battle. The vampires are accusing Jeannie of being responsible for the disappearance of Soren. There will be an investigation but it seems both the vampires and gargoyles would rather fight each other than find peace. It is clear that Jeannie didn’t have anything to do with Soren’s disappearance but the vampires refuse to believe her. This is a fast-paced story with political intrigue. Looking forward to seeing how things play out in the next book.
