When a rugged stranger appears at her secluded ocean lighthouse, Emily McCullen is overwhelmed by a scorching attraction that touches areas only her late husband could reach. Soon the sexy stranger is caressing her sensual side, making her feel so hot and alive she's yielding to her most intimate desires and surrendering to him.
With a new face and identity, Steve McCullen returns home with a burning desire for revenge. His wife is about to marry his best friend-the man Steve suspects is behind his faked death and years of nightmare incarceration. He'll protect Emily with his life, but how can he protect his heart and true identity when he's caving in to his desires for her?
Passion dances with pleasure and danger collides with desire, but when the past arises and shocking secrets are revealed, Emily must put aside her feelings of betrayal to help Steve stop someone who is bent on destroying their second chance at love.
Note: While a stand-alone, novel is best enjoyed in series order.

The plot here is a little iffy. Not only does the hero have reconstructive face surgery (with no scaring) but he has NEW EYE BALLS (can they even do that?) and his voice box was damaged.
See? Iffy.
So wasn't I surprised when I couldn't put this book down. I liked the hero (Chance/Steve). I wanted to know what he would do next. He was all mysterious and strong but also vulnerable - a nice dynamic character. And the heroine wasn't bat-shit crazy, which was nice.
The "suspence" part of this novel was sort of nuts. I will start out by saying that I was surprised more than once and it kept me on my toes. But at the same time it was sort of crazy. These people live on a small island off of PEI ... which is a small island. And they are getting busted for heroine or it's getting planted in their tug boat. Sigh. Common! The organ doner plot was interesting but again it was a little outlandish.
The sex scenes were hot. But I didn't realize that people in threatening situations would get so ... adventurous with their sex. If I was afraid for my life and having "I hope everything will be OK" sex, I don't think I, personally, would whip out the butt plug for the first time. Just isn't top of mind. But that's me.
Also, I don't think that people who get into trouble this deep usually have such clean, happy endings. I wish I could live in a romance novel!!
Better than the 2nd book, but not as good as the first one. Maybe I just like Matthew better than his brothers. Like the 1st book, I think the pacing and plot are very good (better than the 2nd story) The timing of when Emily finds out about who Chance is is just right - it drew out the suspense without making it take so long that the reader loses patience. I liked the misdirection about who the villain is too.
However, I would have liked to see a little exploration on the affect of the trauma Chance had gone through. It does say he had therapy, but he still seemed to bounce back awfully fast.
