Miranda May Kerr (born 20 April 1983) is an Australian model best known as one of the Victoria's Secret Angels since mid-2007. She is the first Australian to participate in the Victoria's Secret campaign and also represents Australian fashion chain David Jones. Kerr began modeling in the fashion industry when she was 13, starting at Chaay's Modelling Agency, and soon after winning a 1997 Australian nationwide model search hosted by Dolly magazine and Impulse fragrances.

Kerr married English actor Orlando Bloom in 2010 but the couple announced their split in 2013. Kerr and Bloom have one child together, Flynn Christopher.

As reported in 2007, Kerr was writing an inspirational self-esteem, self-help book called Treasure Yourself aimed at the female teenage demographic. Kerr says, "Basically, it's a whole lot of information that I've found, that has helped me. If I can help one girl by doing this then I've completed my purpose."

Miranda Kerr is my favorite Victoria's Secret Angel and one of my favorite models in general, so two years ago, when I found out she had published a book, I was beyond curious to read it and to see what it was all about. I was at first worried though that it would be a biography, since I'm not too fond of those.
But I found it's not a biography completely. It does share some of her life and she does open up a lot, which I love, but she mixes the experiences from her life and makes them into relatable stories and valuable lessons which I really did appreciate.
I enjoyed her views on everything. I really did. I thought that it was well thought out and she really did have a message to say about every topic she discussed. The book has taught me some things and some lessons and have really helped me along the way. I find that whenever I'm in a rough spot, or whenever I'm having a terrible day, I always will pick up this book and read through it and remember some of those things and how lovely it is to even be alive and to be living.
It's a very good book, and I think it can definitely help a lot of young girls, like she said she wanted to.

I was given this book for free, and I thought it was terrible. Miranda Kerr really tries, but I found it nearly impossible to relate to her. It's just very hard to take her "this is how I overcame adversity" standpoint when it seems like she had a pretty privileged upbringing (which is not to diminish her experiences; they just don't seem to mesh with her message)

While I haven't read many self-help books, I feel like she says what everyone else says, but she does not present it in a new and interesting way. While I appreciate her personal anecdotes, they're so short that they hardly feel necessary. In fact, these anecdotes feel a little forced.

I am also completely thrown off by how many grammatical errors there are in this book. I just don't understand how her editor and publishers did not catch them.

Also, only the first 94 pages are of Miranda Kerr's actual writing. 14 or so pages of pictures follow, and the rest of the book is just a collection of quotes.

In the end, I would not recommend this book.

Miranda Kerr's "Treasure Yourself" left me feeling fairly disappointed with it in the aftermath. It's not that I don't appreciate the opportunity to hear of this Victoria's Secret model's experiences and challenges, as well as her advice emphasizing the need to love and cherish yourself. Yet, this narrative really never realizes its full potential, nor does it organize itself in a way that's easy to read through. The narrative is written in a series of spotty, somewhat child-like vignettes that talk about Kerr's struggles, but don't really say much beyond a very surface level of experiences or advice. I wanted to feel more for her and about her, but in the work - she mentions a horrible thing that happened to her and then glosses over it with pretty words. The writing style is somewhat stilted and rehashes many of the same messages over and over again. I didn't really feel like I learned much about her, nor her journey to self-improvement, nor have any messages that I could take home for myself or for others who may have some of the same challenges with body image, self-worth, or self-improvement. It felt like reading an answer to an extended, general question on a Miss America or Miss Universe pageant, and I hate saying that because it's not as if young girls/women who are models don't struggle with the pressures of fame, body image, or self-worth, but this narrative really liked the depth and true knowledge of someone who endured the hardship of the facets of this particular industry. Long story short, I expected more and much better quality from a narrative like this.

Overall score: 2/5

Note: I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, from the publisher Hay House.

This book changed my life. Miranda really helped me along my journey of identity, self belief and confidence. It is literally my bible and I take it with me wherever I go so that if I'm ever feeling down I can just pick up her book and read an excerpt or positive affirmation to get me back on track.
I highly recommend it and couldn't recommend it enough for people, especially young women, who are struggling to love themselves and are looking to change their lives positively.
Miranda is amazing at describing things and it is so inspiring how she's introduced the world of positive thinking to our generation for those who weren't aware of how just thinking of things on the brighter side, can change your life and the people around you.
Treasure Yourself! A must read.

Not sure what possessed me to read this but I did.

Maybe you would enjoy it if you were a supermodel but when the hardships in her life include changing managers, getting up at 4am and doing a photoshoot in the snow it was difficult to take her cliched advice seriously.

My favourite bit is the end where she then includes a series of pictures of herself in bikinis looking hot, for no reason. I guess I should probably opt for self help books written by someone normal who has cankles or whose thighs tough at the top rather than read miranda banging on about being grateful and blessed.

I did however enjoy reading out the affirmations in a stupid ditzy accent with my friend. It was a good hour of entertainment.

Miranda Kerr is not a good writer. She does not have anything profound to say. In some cases she barely had anything understandable to say.

I don't think the tone of her book suits her experiences. She writes as if she's overcome the harshest of adversity, but has lived a completely charmed life, and as a result a lot of her advice and help comes across flat and empty.

I thought it would be more of a Biography but was very happy when reading to find out it is not completely a biography. Miranda Kerr is a favourite model of mine so loved reading her life and advice etc.

I was never a fan of Miranda Kerr. I always thought she appeared like a '.....' (Insert b word) and seemed kinda sexed up and slutty with her pouty poses and the other ways she posed and modeled. Especially being an lingerie model. I picked this up because it seemed interesting. I. Didn't want it because of her, but the cover attracted me and also because I'm into self-help books. I felt awful reading the book and knowing she isn't as bad as I thought. This is not really a biography, but she wrote a lot about her journey and I was surprised and pleased to know she is eternally grateful, has insecurities now and then and feels sad and jealous at times too. She hasn't been through lots of trials and problems, but she seemed to have moments where she asked herself what she was doing and why. I think she is a great role model now and I look up to her now. I still don't like the way she poses and dresses (out of modeling) but I certainly think she is an ok person now. I liked the affirmations, but got annoyed reading 'I' as 'i' all the time. Was creepy how she said to open up the affirmation section And let your 'intuition guide you' as you open it up to a random page, as I tried this and opened it up to something totally appropriate and suited to me it was scary :/. Weird. I don't entirely believe with all her beliefs as I personally don't think it's possible to have such perfect thoughts and feelings and to make yourself believe something that isn't true...but at least this sort of belief system can be adapted by all religions. The water thing I think is entirely garbage if you ask me. You can't change water by saying nice things to it or mean things ( I tried by the way)

I probably won't read again, but it was nice knowing she isn't perfect. Her grandparents look like goddesses as well lol

2.5 stars.

As much as I love Miranda Kerr, I didn't love her book. I knew this wasn't an autobiography, but I felt like she could've factored in more of her personal experiences to emphasize the point she was trying to make. Her writing just fell flat for me and her style was very repetitive. I've read other reviews where people say that Kerr would say things like "Love your family and friends." when a lot of people aren't in situations where their family and friends are the best thing for them, and I completely agree with that. I wish she took a different approach to the body image thing, because I didn't feel she meant "Love your body no matter the shape or size" it came off as "Eat healthy food, do yoga, and then love your body." More than half the book is filled with little quotes and pictures of butterflies and I enjoyed that more than Kerr's actual writing. As a model that a lot of young girls look up to, I was not impressed by her overall message.

Also, the endless mentions of KORA and Louise Hay became a bit too much.

I quiet liked this book. Thought it was a bit too short for my liking, due to most of it being mainly pictures and quotes. I find some of Miranda Kerr's advice good and her "a sunflower can never be a rose, but it is still beautiful" quote really reassuring and it makes me feel better about myself.

My only problem with this book is that Miranda Kerr is very hard to relate to. She is telling you to embrace your inner beauty while she is the stereotypical version of what society sees as beautiful. She's a Victoria's Secret Angel and she's travelled the world and had amazing opportunities. If this book was written by someone "normal" or "average" it would probably be easier to relate to.

This was a very easy read. The book is positive and uplifting. Miranda shows that everyone faces different challenges in their life but can learn to deal with and overcome them. One challenge she faced in particular was a lack in self-confidence. Although I've never faced this challenge, I liked the way she went about overcoming her feelings. I also love the words of affirmation in the back. They were laid out so cute that I've considered ripping my favorite pages from the book and placing them around the house.

Treasure Yourself by Miranda Kerr

Why I decided to read this book:

Growing up, I don’t recall admiring models in the way a lot of young girls do. I’ve never understood why they were so admirable and frown upon at the same time. We have all seen skinny twig like ‘woman’ who prance along the catwalk in ugly clothes and my perception of them was this. However, I wanted to change my view on them, give them a second chance, so what better is there to do than read book written by one.

Which category on the bingo board this book completes:
This book covers the category ‘your own choice’. I was relived to hear that there was such a category as this gave me a freedom of choice and allowed me to read what I want to read and not what I HAVE to read.

My favourite quote from this book (and why) :

Without telling fibs, I could pick a quote out of any page. However, my favourite quote would be “mum always said to me, ‘If you are going to do something, do it properly”. I felt so closely intertwined with this quote as from a very young age I can recall my dad telling me the exact same, just as what his dad told him. The chain effect proposed a feeling of assurance and motivation.

Something new I learned from this book:

Positivity is key. By saying kind words, thinking positively, being kind to your self and not putting your self down or doing the slightest deed such as opening the door for another, or giving someone a compliment can make the biggest difference to someone’s day and even your own. We don’t always need to be the hero, we can simply start with a smile and just like that the world is already a better place.

A character or setting that was interesting to me (and why) :

The author of the book, Mirranda Kerr was my favourite character. I admire the way she always stays positive even when tough challenges are turned against her. The idea to write a book that teaches one to love them selfs and always be positive, is a treasurable gift every teenage girl should be given. And I thank her of showing me the power of positivity and how vital it is to “Treasure Yourself” .

Treasure Yourself was something that I picked up at the library because I had planned on participating in an Oprah lifeclass - which was advertised as a free and then end up costing almost $100. Being bummed out I was looking for a spirituality book to tie me over, and I found Miranda Kerr's book on the shelves.

Known as a Victoria's Secret Angel and international model, Miranda Kerr teamed up with Louise Hay (of Hay House Radio, Books, etc.) to create her own book of affirmations and how they have played a role in her life ever since she was a young girl. Kerr's writing is very simple; almost a bit too much.

The first half of the book she is very briefly autobiographical - perhaps wanting to maintain some privacy. She teaches mostly about what keeps her grounded and rooted, her love of nature & organic supplements, and offers advice to women on how they too can feel beautiful if they choose to.

It's not the most complex nor deeply rooted spirituality books I've ever picked up, and I think that was a bit of a point. While I would have liked to have learned more about her childhood and more struggles she faced being a model, this was more of a playful book teaching young women to access their personality, believe in themselves, and see themselves as beautiful, strong women who can lead the lives they want.

The second half of the book was particularly my favorite because she shares with us the original quotes and words of advice that struck a particular chord with her, and also affirmations she created to go along with each one. She also provides advice on how to create your own affirmations and ideas for rooting the ones she created into your own life.

Overall, I think this was a fun breezy read and a nice little guide that I'd like to add to my bookshelf someday. It changed my perception a bit on how fashion is about the exterior world of a person; the style, the trends, the blurring line of models who are photoshopped and look the same. This small glimpse into Miranda's life was a nice break-away into understanding that beauty comes from within.

In the meantime, I managed to finish another book in addition to my mf slow progress on the 2017 Reading Challenge so far, so I'll take this W!

I was casually binge watching multiple Victoria Secret Shows, specifically those that occurred during Miranda's presence and I fell in love with her. I then discovered that she had a book and I immediately went head over heels to read it, and I KID YOU NOT this changed my life especially my mindset and aspects on how I choose to view things.

I believe that the stronger the energy or attention you give something, the more it magnifies in your life.

I absolutely encourage 100% every single person out there to pick up this book. Whether you are a woman or not, this book will boost the shit out of your confidence. In this book, she talks about her experienced throughout the journey of her life from her modeling career to the challenges she faced growing up. I relate so much to this book because it gives me an insight to someone's life, specifically Miranda and I found myself connecting with her on another level because she shares similar traits with me. She used to feel “self conscious and quite shy” as she mentioned, so did I. Also can we just talk about how pretty the drawings on this book is? It's aesthetically pleasing and I 10/10 adored the quote pages (I'm not kidding, there's like 100+ pages of pretty quotes with butterfly drawings). As pretty and motivating as this book can get, I still disliked her writing (I guess it's because she wrote this by herself and it was realistic and personal from the bottom of her heart) but it still felt slightly flat and bland lacking strong features, mainly composition and structure as the empowering theme slowly faded as each page flipped similar to a candle blowing out, nonetheless I still love Miranda. One of the most influential impacter on my life and for that I genuinely appreciate and thank her for this from the bottom of my heart as well. ☀️💗

Treasure Yourself seems like it was created mainly for young women, but in reality displays messages for everyone out there in the world who just so happens to be dealing with challenges and struggles. It gives the background story of Miranda Kerr and how she faced some of her own, but also gives instructions on some things we are able to do through some of our hardest times of life. This could be through anything. It could be troubles with relationships, confidence, or even eating the right way. Whatever issues anyone may be having, the book is definitely the GO-TO book. It empowers us to stay true to who we are and helps us find out when we are unsure by giving us notes on what to do through certain situations, examples of how Miranda handled her difficulties, and power thoughts to get through the toughest times of life. Anytime we have any troubles, the back of the book contains power thoughts to read in the morning, middle of the day, and/or at night before we sleep. Its a book that keeps life staying on the positive side. The glass will always is half-full and never half-empty. We just have to turn to the right page of the book for answers.

I loved this book when I first picked it up! but some of it, you already know from basic knowledge of health and beauty. It basically just has some extra things in it about her life, where she takes a certain part of her life, and applies it to a spiritual side of it. It is a very basic and easy read, and is an excellent book to have on your bedside or coffee table. I just think that the quotes and sayings section is way too much! I would have preferred if there was more on beauty, and other things she could share about her modelling world, or secrets she could really apply to "treasuring yourself" instead of just putting little comments on pages that just take up page space! It's worth having, but just remember the majority of the book is mostly "power quotes", and mainly rewritten from Louise Hayes books. She does, however, add value and quality to the celebration of life!!

Technically, I didn't finish every page of this book. I read the bulk of the material, but when it got to pages and pages and pages of affirmations toward the back of the book, I gave up. I do think that I would use the affirmations if I had the book in hard format, rather than Kindle.

Ms. Kerr is a beautiful soul, inside and out. Her ideas are derivative and simplistic, but they are kind and joyful. I think this would be a very encouraging book for preteen girls who may be struggling with questions of image and integrity. Ms. Kerr leans very heavily on the teachings of Louise Hay and Deepak Chopra, so parents interested in gifting their daughter with "Treasure Yourself" should be aware and supportive of these philosophies.

Well, first off I am going to start by saying what an inspirational read that book truly was! I loved how she shared her ideas with how to deal with different emotions and also had examples of how this affected her life. She minimised the amount of text about herself and this gave the reader time to think more about how it may have affected them in their life. I would have loved to have heard more about her life and her growing up but I knew that in buying this book I was not picking up an autobiography but a lovely, inspirational book that definitely helped me and many others around the world stay healthy and positive towards my goals... A great read for anyone who doubts themselves... mentally, spiritually and physically.

This isn't a book about her life but how having a positive outlook and mindset helps her be the best she can be and how she sees things as opportunities. This book has really inspiring quotes and metaphors that make you think.

This is going to sound cheesy but it's true. I use to be a negative person that was angry at everyone. This book helped me change the way I look at things. I am more of a positive person and it made me realize that everyone is unique and has a purpose! It may not seem like it sometimes but I am in control of my life.
I think everyone should read it because it could be the stepping stone to the life you want to live.
I really love this book! I even have it on my phone where I have my favorite sections highlighted for when I need a little pick me up.

This was one simple and positive book. It made me smile, while I was reading it. It also made me feel better, which I think is one of its purposes. I love Miranda and admire her as a role-model and I think that her journey is described in a simple, yet structured way. The book and the affirmations in it are inspirational and extremely positive, which I love.

My friend leant me this book which she absolutely loved. She was able to find comfort with it and what Miranda suggests. Unfortunately, this one just didn’t connect for me. Everything she spoke about in her own life was really glossed over and many things felt repetitive. I’ve glad my friend was able to enjoy this, but it wasn’t for me.

I love Miranda's book! It is perfect for any woman of any age, even the younger of teenagers. It shows you with keeping your thinking positive as well as your beliefs, you really can do anything you want in your life, including making your dreams come true, while also teaching self-value and know when to say no. Can't wait for the next book!

To be honest, I didn't particularly enjoy this book. I felt like it could have been written better. However, it has some important messages for everyone alike. For example, "Friends are the angels sent down to help you along your life's path".

If you were looking for a book for someone who needs some encouragement or yourself, you could look at this?

Miranda has been one of my favorite model presently, and given that she has studied psychology and nutrition, I thought this would be a nice book to read about balancing life and staying healthy. After reading it, I felt it has not touch the core value of what I want learn from her... It was not enough.
