With over a million books in print, Pamela Britton likes to call herself the best known author nobody’s ever heard of. Of course, that’s begun to change thanks to a certain licensing agreement with that little racing organization known as NASCAR.

Nowadays it’s not unusual to hear her books being discussed by the likes of Jay Leno, Keith Olbermann, or Stephen Colbert. Flip open a magazine and you might read about her, too, in Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, or Southwest Airlines’ Spirit Magazine. Channel surf and you might see her on CNN, ESPN, ABC or NBC.

But before the glitz and glamour of NASCAR, Pamela wrote books that were frequently voted the best of the best by The Detroit Free Press, Barnes & Noble (two years in a row) and RT BOOKclub Magazine. She’s won numerous writing awards, including the National Reader’s Choice Award, and a nomination for Romance Writers of America’s Golden Heart and the Holt Medallion.

When not following the race circuit, Pamela writes full-time from her ranch in Northern California where she lives with her husband, daughter and, at last count, twenty-one four-legged friends.

If you'd like to chat with Pamela you can find her on her myspace where she loves to hangout with her readers.

Over The Top by Pamela Britton
After a plane crash that took his friends life and rehabilitation for him, many thought that Linc Shepherd was a washed up driver. Lucky for him Double S Racing had more faith in him than that. The only problem with working with Gil Sizemore was his younger sister, Marley. That crazy girl had a crush on him when she was only seventeen and was somewhat of a stalker back then. Now….well know she’s a gorgeous adult that Linc wouldn’t mind so much if she stalked him. If only she hadn’t promised Gil to stay away from him.

Talk To Me by Dorien Kelly
Ben and Susie Edmonds had the real thing, a marriage with love. Once the kids wanted to go to school rather than home-school and they stopped traveling together their lives got busier. Ben’s driving wasn’t helping to ensure a ride or a sponsor, adding more stress. Communication broke down and they started drifting. Susie was not a quitter though and took it onto herself to bring their family back to together and to keep their Edmonds family motto intact. Have fun. Great view on how not giving up and communication is everything in a marriage.

Hilton Branch continues to write in his journal while in prison. His daughter Penny finally came to see him so he could pass on the information he needed to give her. Even if that information made his daughter hate him more. It’s hard for this once very proud man to have lost everything. Too late he realizes that the treasure was not in the power and money he craved. It had been within his reach all this time, his children.

It's been a while since I've picked up one of the NASCAR stories, but I didn't have trouble jumping into this anthology. Pamela Britton and Dorien Kelly used a couple of my favorite short-story set-ups, and I liked their brief reads very much.

Over the Top has Marley Sizemore all grown up now, and working for her brother's racing team. She knows she's never quite outgrown her feelings for famed NASCAR driver Linc Shepherd, although she's determined to keep that under wraps. Linc's staging a comeback after a horrible accident, and knows he can't be distracted from his goal, no matter how gorgeous and competent his boss's baby sister has grown up to be.

Ms. Britton does a great job revealing Marley and Linc's attraction and relationship as well as the difficulty they face before they can make things work.

Talk to Me looks at Susie Edmonds and her husband Ben, a driver who's been around long enough to be considered a grizzled veteran. She knows they've been finding it hard to connect given his focus on his season and taking care of their family and her need to care for their growing kids and on her growing side business. What she didn't expect is feeling like he's actively pushing her away.

Ms. Kelly does a terrific job portraying the pressures a couple can feel within a marriage, and thankfully we can enjoy seeing how these two deal with turning those around.

These were enjoyable reads that got me ready to pull out some of the other NASCAR stories.
