Eric E. Wright grew up in the west-end of Toronto, studied forestry at the University of Toronto then transferred to Columbia International University in South Carolina to receive training in overseas ministry. There he met and married Mary Helen, a nurse from SC.

Together they served in Pakistan for 16 years where Eric was the co-founder of the Open Theological Seminary, which now serves over 2000 students. While in Pakistan he wrote five self-teaching textbooks for this extension school.

Upon their return to Canada he pastored a church in Toronto for nine years until the passion to write became too strong to deny. From 1991 to the present he has written and published ten books.

Through a Country Window – Inspiring stories from out where the sky springs free, published in 2001, tells the story of Eric & Mary Helen’s move from the city to a country property. In a whimsical and often humorous style it draws readers into their story with a view to helping them celebrate country life.

The Lightning File, published in 2007, follows the story of a journalist who discovers a terrorist plot targeting US interests from Canada. In Captives of Minara, this journalist goes to Pakistan to write about an archaeological discovery but stumbles on a gang engaged in human trafficking and the smuggling of drugs, guns and antiquities. Both these suspense novels won best novel in the Word Guild contest in the year they were published.

Eric & Mary Helen have three married children and nine grandchildren. Eric is a member of the Writers’ Union of Canada and The Word Guild.

Review of The Lightning File by Eric Wright
5 stars

I reviewed an e-book copy provided to me by the author via the Goodreads Group Making Connections, in return for my fair and impartial review.

This book inspires a “WOW”! From the reader-hooking first sentence right on to the very final sentence, I was spun in a particle reactor of thrill, suspense, terrorism, character, marriage, religion (Christianity and Islam, as well as the third perspective of agnosticisim), secrecy, governmental agencies, murder-a riveting melting pot that is so well-written, I expected it to be the work of an author who had already published many novels. I found not one fault with this book; I read it in a period of several hours and didn’t even notice time passing.

Joshua Radley is the kind of workaholic who can almost be forgiven, a man who becomes so very absorbed in his reporting that he really doesn’t know the passage of time, and forgets about his wife and two adult offspring. Josh is a reporter in Toronto who more than almost anything wants to do award-winning investigative reporting, and he thinks he’s found the track when he begins to uncover what appears to be a link in drug-running and potential terrorism. He’s on the track, all right, a track that could very possibly lead to his death and those of many hundreds of others. In the meantime, his wife has insisted on a separation (at Easter!), his religious faith is, if not actually crumbling, definitely on the back burner, and he meets a Canadian National Health psychiatrist whose native land is Pakistan, where Josh was born and grew up as the son of missionary parents. She is way too tempting, and the situation escalates when he finds and buys the home of his dreams, an isolated lake cabin not far from her farmhouse. Meanwhile, those he suspects of terrorism are escalating their endeavours, and the noose around Josh is tightening too. Danger looms, for Josh and his loved ones, and also for the unsuspecting Canadian and American populace.

The Lightning File by Eric. E. Wright is a mystery full of suspense and intrigue. Reporter Joshua Radley has spent years building up his career as a reporter. Just as his career is taking off, his wife asks him to move out. Radley knows his big break is just around the corner, but with his marriage on the rocks he finds it difficult to focus. Red, the boss, seems to be looking for an excuse to get rid of him. Nadia, a beautiful Psychiatrist seems to be making herself available. Joshua thinks there is a terrorist plot, but no one believes him.

Will Radley be able to uncover the plot before it’s too late? Will he cave to temptation? Will he be able to put his life back together? Author Eric W. Wright spins a compelling tale that keeps the reader involved and guessing until the end. I read this book over Christmas break, starting it one day and finishing it the next. Wright leaves the reader hanging at the end of each chapter, making it almost impossible to put the book down. If you’re looking for a good mystery, check this one out. I give The Lightening File five stars out of five.

From the very beginning, Eric Wright draws us into Joshua Radley's life. He's a reporter with Toronto Times. He stumbles into a story that could make his career great. But the further he digs into the story the more danger he finds. A file darkness, thunder, and lightning. It had to be a code for a terrist operation or was he bcoming paraniod. Then poor Josh had personal problems to work out with his wife. The closer I got to the end, the more I was on the edge of me seat like I was watching a movie. I wondered if things would work out okay. Great book.

This book was amazing in that Eric was able to keep the suspense going all through the book. I could not wait to see what was going to happen next. It was a good story well written.
