If you enjoy traveling to new towns and hearing about their history- including some of the tragedies & ghost stories - then this book is for you! I could imagine each city or town as the author described the setting and many include photos in case your imagination needs a boost. The author shares the darker history without salacious details or gore - he has a friendly, matter-of-fact tone that keeps the reader safely in the eerie zone. I enjoy visiting locations with colorful history and ghost sightings so I’ll refer to this book when I’m planning my next trip! Highly recommend if you like legend tripping, ghost investigations, folklore and tragic history.
Interesting collection of stories from around the United States. Each state has a unique history and story - and some of these have spawned into legends and paranormal stories. Sightings and stories have grown over the years.
Interesting collection of stories. I was familiar with several, but there were a few that I didn't know about.
This book was a good overview of stories from each state. I listened on audio. My only complaint would be that the narrator often mispronounced words - bellies instead of belies (multiple hints), decapacitated instead of decapitated, just deserts instead of just desserts. There were others . These things bother me more than they probably should.
This is a very funny and entertaining mix of travelogue and ghost stories. It made me imagine a lot of travel and it's well written Highly recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Though this collection comes across as a bit dry in parts, overall this collection of ghost stories from the 50 U.S contains a few interesting stories that I hadn't previously read that gave me chills. An overall excellent read.
This was informative and often times humorous. I love the fact that the author admits to the cliche stories such as the women in white and the tragic love stories. He comes across as not overly skeptical while also not gullible. I enjoyed it overall.
Really enjoyed all the cool history behind the places the author talked about. Was hoping for more of a scary book to read during the Halloween season. This ended up being more of a historical book, but I still learned a lot and really enjoyed it!
