I was barely five when I lost my brother; seven when my father was murdered. Overnight, I was taken by my mysterious uncle, grafted into a world of crime I didn’t understand and couldn’t escape.
The first ten years, I did my best to blend in. The next four, I reinvented myself, growing stronger, searching for answers. Now I have one assignment—take down the man who knows our secrets.
Professor Dirk Winston is my target, and I’m expected to be a good soldier, disguised as a good student. Only he’s not the passive bookworm I expect. He’s intense hazel eyes, ultra controlled, and focused on his work.
But I’ve got plans of my own, and this young professor is going to do more than fulfill my assignment. He’s going to help me get revenge.

Tia has killed it again with another phenomenal book. The angst and tension in this one was so thick it could be cut with a knife. We’ve got our H, Professor Dirk Winston, who is the brother and friend of the two H’s in the two previous books in the series. He decides to leave their private investigator practice to enter the world of academia. He wants to get out to get out into the world to see what’s out there for him. While he wanted to find someone to spend his life with, he didn’t think that would come in the form of his student. Or is she?
“Professor Dirk Winston is lose your panties, fall to your knees, thank (not-lost) Jesus, fucking hot as sin.”
Our h, Reanna, is orphaned as a young girl after her uncles killed her father and stole her away and raised her in the Russian mafia scene. After her uncles were killed 4 years ago, she’s now been tasked by her cousin who wants to revive the organization, to find one thing that could bring her legitimacy. But Reanna wants that same thing in order to find who killed her dad, find her missing brother, and exact revenge of her own. How is she going to do this you may ask? She’s going to impersonate a student and get close to Professor Dirk to try and locate it.
“I need to stop this, but I can’t stop tasting her. A soft noise slips from her throat, and she holds me, lips chasing mine. How has she managed to destroy my will, to wrap me around her finger this way?”
So many questions…will she find the missing piece? Will she find her missing brother? Will falling in love with her professor change her plans? Will he trust she’s not trying to betray him? So many twist and turns in this one! Super spicy, forbidden teacher/student romance. My heart was in my throat for about 70% of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“She feels so good, and with every beat of my heart, I’m calm, sure. They say when it’s right, you just know it. The words are right there, but I won’t say them.” This book was a good, sensual and romantic reading! The characters were perfect together! It’s worth the reading.
I really enjoyed Forbidden, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.... I was expecting an age-gap, student/teacher romance and it is ... but it isn't, lol. It's more of a deception/mafia read. Still good. Still with lots of action and hot smexy :) Love hot, nerdy heroes and Dirk definitely delivered!
Get ready to get your teacher kink on with this one!!! Dirk is intense and Reanna has set her sights on him. I absolutely loved the way this couple came together as well as everything they fantasized about beforehand.
Reanna’s plan added to the overall angsty feel of the story. Even when things were getting hot and heavy between her and Dirk, the expectation of it all collapsing was right on the horizon. My heart hurt for Dirk but I was just as emotionally connected to Reanna.
This book is filled with plenty of steamy moments but it also answers all the questions that have been left unanswered in the series. There are moments with characters from the previous books as well and I loved seeing them again. While you could possibly read this alone, I recommend you read the series in order.
Umm, this was amazing! I don’t even have adequate words to describe how wonderful Dirk and Rainey are..like, I cannot pick a favorite book from this series, but this one was a serious contender.
Both Dirk and Rainy are lonely and Rainey is very much alone in the world. She is still involved with the pseudo mob but it’s more to try and figure out information about her father.
Dirk, feeling at loose ends and like he needs a change and time away from Hamiltown, secures a position at a college just an hour away from home.
He and a Rainey, who is posing as a student, get the absolutely smoldering, explosive and “cannot get the idea of f$&@ing you out of my mind” kind of attraction and we are treated to the Professor restraining himself while Rainey inserts herself into The Professor’s life…it’s gold I tell you, pure gold.
As the story progresses, a lot happens and of course we see our couples from the previous books are there, because this is a family.
Do not, I repeat, do not let this one pass you by.
Professor meets his college student and attraction is instant. But there’s something secret about her that he doesn’t know about. With spice spice galore, a plot twist at the end, and addictive page turning, Forbidden was a fast paced KU read that had me feeling hot.
I loved this book for the spice, the fast paced writing/story telling, and the attraction between the MCs. And it was highly enjoyable.
I gave it 3/5 stars because I do wish we had a bit more plot, a little bit more of what happened at the end, and a little bit more “love” between the MCs instead of all lust. Which is totally fine, I love lust, but I do wish we got a bit more love in general. It would have elevated this story, but overall I really enjoyed myself with this forbidden romance. And I LOVED THE SPICE. Loved.
This is my first book by Tia Louise and being the fourth in a series I was concerned I would be to behind on what was going on. I must say my worries were unfounded. I fond myself loving the narrative and intrigued enough to go back and read book one in the series.
Dirk and Reanna are such an explosive couple. I loved how this book was a real forbidden romance where he is the one resisting. It just made their scenes that much hotter. I was thoroughly entertained and absolutely loved it.
I’m not totally convinced. I mean, I enjoyed the story, the characters were great, the suspense wasn’t half bad, but the romance? I didn’t buy it. Sure, Reanna and Dirk have a couple of heart to heart conversation that bring them close, but they’re supposed to have feelings for each other even before that, and I didn’t see it.
There was a whole lot of sexy though. Maybe a bit out of character for Dirk, who we’re told is a nerd, as I found him too aggressive in bed for the scholarly type. I can’t deny it was hot, though. And Reanna is all for it. It’s a forbidden romance between a professor and his student, so think sneaky sexy times.
We met Reanna in the previous books in the series, when she was Rainey and didn’t look nor act the same. It’s a plot trick for the author, so Dirk can’t recognize her, but the explanation barely makes sense. She was an interesting character, with strong motivations and determination. It helped that she was showed with other characters–her roommate and classmates–as she mostly has one to one scenes with Dirk, where she often plays a character, and it was hard sometimes to see her true self.
While some terrible scheme is going on around him unbeknown to him, Dirk has a more existential crisis. He becomes a professor at the beginning of the book to find a new purpose to his life. Seeing his brother and his friend in relationships, while he’s stuck behind his computers, has him questioning his career and choosing a new path. What he doesn’t expect, of course, is the young vixen in his class. He fights some against his desire, and his struggles were interesting. He has other problems later in the book that I don’t want to spoil, but he was overall a compelling character.
Besides the points listed above, there was one other thing that bothered me a bit. There was a hint at the difference in experience between people with a ten year age gap, and it excited me. But then it was dismissed almost immediately, and I was frustrated. But I guess it’s a me problem.
The writing was good as usual, plus the great characters, the plot, and a couple of really beautiful scenes–plus the sexy, of course–so I wasn’t disappointed despite the love I didn’t see.
Quickie
- Series: Hamiltown heat #4 (can be read as a standalone) - Hashtags: #romantic suspense #forbidden romance #age gap #teacher/student #hidden identity - Triggers: mention of bullying and murder, violence and death - Main couple: Reanna Lorak & Dirk Winston - Hotness: 5/5 - Romance: 3/5 - + I loved the conclusion to this series - – that’s lust, not love, guys
I hate to admit this, but the beginning of this story made me cringe and I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep reading. I powered through, and I'm really glad I did. This story revolves around Dirk, (his name makes me cringe) and Reanna/Rainey, who came across way too strong for my liking. I understand what she was trying to do, but the attraction was mutual, so I felt like she didn't need to come on so strong. Once I got past that point, I was invested in their story.
Dirk is the younger brother of Hutch and the computer genius behind the scenes. Now that they think their investigation that started in Fearless, is closed, he decides he wants to teach at a small college. That's where he meets Reanna, one of his students. Reanna is there to get close to Dirk, in hopes that will give her access to search for a ledger that may hold the secret of who killed her father when she was a child and the reason why. She is genuinely attracted to Dirk and vice versa, although Dirk fights it as long as he can. The more time they spent together, the more Reanna feels like this relationship could be the real thing, if only she wasn't hiding a huge secret. A secret that could destroy them and break Dirk's heart.
This book wraps up the series brilliantly. The chemistry between Dirk and Reanna was off the charts and the sexy scenes were hot af! Once I got past my issues with the start of the book, and they really are my issues, not the authors, I devoured this book in just a few hours, and I'll be adding the paperback to complete my collection.
Rating: 3.25⭐️ Spice: 2.5/5 Trope: Forbidden -teacher/student, underworld, dark romance
Rainey had a tough life. Her father died in front of her eyes and she was raised by her cousin. Rainey was given a mission -to be his student-to get close to Dirk and steal an item that is in his possession.
This book was on the corny side. I felt like I was watching bad acting in the first half of the book. She was a student trying to get close to her teacher and thickened her Russian accent. He kept telling her no and then BAM! all of a sudden it happens. I felt there was no chemistry or connection with the characters.it was just there.
If this a dark romance with underworld themes, why is is it a student/teacher? She couldn’t have been a random person - she is 22 in the story - couldn’t she have been someone else like the someone he met at the gym?
The spicy scenes were kind of boring. I felt like I was just reading to read it.
However, I enjoyed the climax.😏 I liked how the villain was one step ahead the entire time and kept you on the edge of your seat.
Overall, I didn’t really vibe with this book. There was a lot of potential, but it fell flat for me.
This was...and wasn't a student/professor romance.
But that doesn't matter as Dirk and Reanna are fantastic together and you believe in their attraction to one another.
The author promises this is going to be hot, and it was. But it was also emotional. You believe and care for the characters in the book, all of them, not just the main characters, and it keeps the book interesting.
I enjoyed the story, the way it handled the plot and the revelations also worked well and I was interested throughout the entire story.
Reanna has grown up in rough circumstances. She thinks Dirk and his family have answers to her past, so she goes undercover as a student in Dirk's class. Dirk has decided to take some time off from the family business. He is teaching at a college. He never expected to get hooked up with one of his students. The couple have instant chemistry. Will Reanna get the answers she's looking for from Dirk and his family?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series but this one might be my favorite. I generally avoid professor/student but Dirk was worth it 🤤
Dirk is seeking purpose. His family is settled down, they have found their happily ever afters, and he feels out of place. So he turns to teaching at a nearby university.
Reanna is trapped in the underworld and wants information; when the opportunity to get it arises in the form of stealing from Dirk…she enrolls in his class.
What neither expects is to be so drawn to each other it’s catastrophic. Earth shaking. Life changing. Both of these characters have deprived themselves of connection for a long time and now they find one they can’t fight.
I loved that even though the attraction was high, and super intensely acted upon, they open up to each other even when they tried to do the opposite. Both are very closed off characters who suddenly break wide open.
We also get lots of visits from previous characters and see how they have grown and developed. The family is so whole and interconnected and it was very cozy to read.
Of course the closeness is the same reason the betrayals cut so deep and mistrust is sewn, but I loved how it resolved for them. I loved the way they used their instincts and their hearts to save themselves and everyone else.
This book has everything in it suspense, drama, taboo, and an age gap so, of course, I had to read it. I had been intrigued about Dirk since Fearless. I loved the other books but I needed Dirk's story. At first, it took me a minute to figure out who the female character was Reanna but then I got it. I won't say much about her since it would be a spoiler but what I will say is she is fearless. The chemistry between them was crazy and I was here for it. These two clicked. The drama in this story was not too much but just enough to keep you invested. I can't say enough about this book other than it's been my favorite in the series. You do not need to read the others but you will get a better understanding if you do. If you haven't read anything by this author I suggest you start with this series.
Dirk's story is finally here, and was certainly worth the wait. Tia has blown me away with this book! Dirk & Reanna/Rainey had an undeniable attraction, even though it was forbidden with Dirk not only being older, but also Rainey's professor. The spice and chemistry was scorching 🔥. With plenty of action, plot twists, secrets, lies and romance, this story will have you hooked from the very start. I have loved this family since we first 'met' them in Fearless. It was great 'catching' up with Hutch, Blake, Scar, Hana and even Trip! This book is an absolute page turner, I could not put it down! It was the perfect end to this phenomenal series. I highly recommend this book, and the whole Hamiltown Heat Series as an epic read!
"Professor Dirk Winston is lose your panties, fall to your knees, thank (not-lost) Jesus, fucking hot as sin."
Dirk and Rainey have an intense chemistry from the start. But, Dirk is her professor and he needs to remain professional. Rainey has an agenda and definitely doesn't need to be distracted.
I loved how Dirk was the one pushing to resist Rainey. The tension was high and I was hanging on waiting for them to act on it. And when they did it did not disappoint.
"I didn’t expect you to affect me. I didn’t expect to want you so much.”
This book was excellent. It's much more than your standard professor student taboo novel. There is an underlying suspense that keeps you guessing. I definitely didn't guess all the connections at the end. Forbidden can be a standalone but I recommend the full series because it will definitely make more sense. And the other books are so good why wouldn't you read them too?
Great! Amazing! Drama! Twists and turns! This was my first book by this author and I am so glad I got to read it !! I loved the story and all the twists. I feel like i have to go back and read the other three but this does work well as a stand alone as well. There is def some forbidden romance feels but i devoured it. Loved the spice. Loved everything !
If you’re looking for a possessive and protective guy Professor Dirk is your man. Sweet jesus this man had an obsession with Reanna and I lived for it. And the spice…hot hot hot. I mean the part where he got her off in the car, walked her home, and then licked his fingers on the way back to his vehicle?!? *fans self off* 🥵
Reanna is part of a criminal organization when she is sent to get a certain book from Dirk. She has her own ultimatum and it involves getting that book and avenging her fathers death, but her plans take a detour the moment Dirk and her set eyes on one another. It was intense and instant.
However I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about this. It was purely physical at first, which is fine, but I didn’t feel the emotional connection I wanted to from them. And since they ended up as a couple I needed that to eventually happen.
The beginning made me want to rip my eyes out from the pure second-hand embarrassment I felt. The middle was okay And In the end, like the last 50 pages I just wanted it to be over. It basically consisted of me skipping over a bunch of paragraphs bc I simply did not care
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This was my first book l've read by Tia Louise, and I really enioved it. First there was Dirk and oh my I have a new book boyfriend because he was 6 What May have started off with lies and betrayal ended with love and family. Although this was a professor/student relationship but also not really (you'll understand as you read the book) it was hot whew they had some spicy scenes in this book. And I enjoyed it all. I honestly loved The main characters in this book Dirk cause he's literally everything (nerd, likes to read books, hot, professor...shall I go on ) and Rainey was trying to find her way and I could tell deep down she just need to find her person that understand her. I felt relatable at times with her and definitely sympathizedwith her . They were what each other needed! I recommend reading this book it will leave you wanting to read more. I know I'm on my way to read more by Tia Louise.
Throughout this series things have been intense and incredibly scorching hot with steam. Each character, each couple has held me captive and made fall in love with them so I waited patiently (well maybe not so patiently but as patient as I could) for Dirk’s story. Dirk was the fun, quiet one that sat behind the keyboard helping Hutch and Scar in protecting their family. Let me tell you it’s the quiet ones that really has a mouth on them (wink wink). Dirk is trying to find his path after watching his brother and Scar fall in love creating their own paths in life, so he is off to find his. Reanna is introduced and I just knew some questions I had left from previous books would be answered. She is this incredibly brave woman set out to accomplish her goal, but it comes with secrets and danger. Reanna is set to get something that Dirk has and when these two connect eyes there is this instant click that they both know shouldn’t be there but it is. Dirk is her professor and Reanna has her own agenda things are taboo-ish, scorching hot, and intense. As things heat up Dirk is trying his best to put things in perspective while fighting his desire and Reanna is closer to getting what she wants, but when secrets come to light will the desire fizzle out and turn to hatred? I absolutely adored Dirk and think he is the greatest and sexist ever and while I liked Reanna’s bravery it was her vulnerability that only he could bring out that won me over to her. The author has made this series one of the steamiest I have ever read while gripping me with suspense and twists, then killing me with the swoon: I loved every second of it.
the romance part became way too cringe-y and I felt nothing whatsoever for them
zero sense for her to be in incognito as a student could have been like idk an assistant or literally a barista in the campus for her purpose there, but let's make her a student so we can add the whole forbidden love student/teacher trope to make this book interesting an catchy
the general plot was lost in the ether since the end of the first book, idk, honestly was such a shitshow I can't even remember between the whole russian mafia/drugs/homicides/kidnapping/mistery of whatever sneaky thing were going on
This family has a special place in my heart. After all theyve been through seeing everyone get their happy ending made me smile so hard. Dirk and Reanna? Hot as hell. It’s a student/professor romance but there’s a plot twist! What? Well. She has a job. Seduce him and get revenge. Get something that he has and the tension is delicious. She’s instantly drawn to him and he tries his best to push her away but the chemistry between them is instant. The mutual longing, the jealousy, tension, the we shouldn’t do this, etc.
But when they both have secrets? It was a little nerve wracking reading when the betrayal would hit. One thing that I really loved was how she felt comfortable with him and felt like she had a home with him, the little things how they suddenly slept better when they were around each other. Although there is still a lot of secrets, lies, plot twists and action, it’s still a super sweet found family trope between the past characters and seeing familiar faces again and how they’re doing and still in love, like the sisters and scar, even trip! It was a dramatic finale but a great series and great book. It’s hot, spicy and full of action but a sweet romance at the end of it, thank you Tia for the arc copy of forbidden. The book comes out January 12, 2023 for those interested in reading
Oh my holy hotness forbidden professor!!! Dirk Winston has established a career that he’s proud of but he wants more. Not sure of what he wants, he takes a teaching position at a nearby college. Little did he know his future was just waiting for him. Reanna Lorak has several lives behind her at only 22 but the one she’s living now might be the most important one. She will finally find the revenge she so desires. In my opinion, this book is the hottest that Ms Louise has written to date. It’s also the best in this series. So many webs had to be cast and untangled. Reanna is… (it’s so hard to put into words) so complicated. Her motives are selfish and altruistic at the same time. Her desire to see out her mission(for lack of a better word) takes a back seat to her desire to get to know Dirk. I loved and hated her at different points in this book. Dirk is not without complications as well. He is a do gooder in his career but sees what his brother and partner have found in their women and he wants that as well. He starts off in this book as being alone but that quickly changes. His trust issues stem from his childhood and are strengthened by situations in his adult life. There are times in this book that I feel sorry for him and times where I would push Reanna out of the way. Lol. This book has become my favorite of Ms. Louise’s. I say that with every new book she writes but this one…this one may stay there above the rest.
3.5/5 fun book, but nothing really really special.
I would have liked going into this knowing it was book 3 in a series, cause I feel like it would have hit even harder, but despite that I really enjoyed the secrecy around the story and the revenge plot at the heart of the plot.
I love to see a torched woman go after her revenge just to fall in love and gain the protection and help she's lacked all her life. Action romance books need more attention.
I definitely plan to go back and read the other books in the series eventually because I am intrigued by the other two couples and the tropes and plot
Forbidden by Tia Louise is apart of the Hamiltown Heat series. This is the story of Dirk Winston and Reanna Lorak. Dirk has decided to take a job teaching to get a fresh start after everyone around him seem to be in love. There he finds himself attracted to Reanna who is his student. Reanna is on a mission of her own to get information she thinks that Dirk might be able to give her. Both are people looking for love but Reanna hasn't really been able to trust anyone. Enjoyed this book.
Quantity: 🔥🔥🔥 Quality: 🔥🔥 Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Character development: ⭐️
Reanna in her head is decent. Reanna when interacting with Dirk is weird as fuck. If you were trying to get close to someone / get them to fall for you, why tf would you lead with sex? Doesn’t she want him to trust her?? There is no character or relationship development between them. The only dialogue that isn’t sexual is Reanna trying to make herself out to be a sad, lonely, helpless little girl. It’s weird as hell and so cringey.
Dirk is weird as hell for falling for Reanna. Why her?? Scar asks Dirk if he was just sexually attracted to her or if there was something more. He immediately thinks about how his reaction to Reanna is different than all the other girls throwing themselves at him. But why??? There is nothing special about their interaction or relationship!!!
Reanna originally suggested she be placed as Dirks grad student / TA, and that would have made a WAY better plot line. Or the author should have come up with a way for the two to interact individually and get to know each other on a deeper level before falling for each other. The current situation is just stupid.
Writing / plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The very end was acceptable.. but everything else just wasn’t. Also I do think I would have needed to read the previous books in the series to understand the other characters better. But obviously I don’t want to read those since this one wasn’t good.
TWO VERY STRONG DOMINATING CHARACTERS. DIRK IS FIGHTING AN INTERNAL BATTLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING, BUT RAINEY IS A FORCE TOO STRONG TO DENY.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING for Dirk’s STORY TO BE TOLD, BUT I NEVER ENVISIONED HIM TO BLOW ME AWAY THE WAY HE DID. I HAD TROUBLE PUTTING THIS BOOK DOWN AND YET HAD TO FORCE MYSELF TO SLOW DOWN SO THAT IT WOULDN'T END.
THE FORBIDDEN ANGST, STEAM AND EXPLOSIVE CHEMISTRY WAS EVERYTHING I WAS NEEDING. WOW, DID I GET IT! THERE IS ALSO AN EMOTIONAL SIDE THAT LINGERS FROM THEIR PASTS. WHAT STARTS OUT AS A PATH FOR REVENGE LEADS TO A ROAD OF LOVE AND HOPE.
The age gap romance in Forbidden by Tia Louise centers on criminal justice professor Dirk Winston and college student Reanna Petrovna.
I will admit that I always read and adore Tia's books, and this may very well be my favorite so far.
I'll start by saying that Rainey was such a badass and that I enjoyed how she seemed innocent but was actually rather cunning. Also, I adore how it was clear from the beginning that Rainey and Dirk were meant to be together and that they balanced each other out, with Rainey refusing to let Dirk push her away and Dirk falling hard despite knowing he shouldn't. Despite the betrayal and heartbreak, this novel was comforting because it featured characters from the Hamilton Heat series, all of whom are happy and have their own families.
In all, Tia did not dissapoint and gave us everything we could possibly want from a FORBIDDEN romance, thus this was the ideal way to conclude the year!
*Thank you to Grey’s Promotions, and to the author, Tia Louise, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review*
