I read this book earlier this year and it was a great help in learning exposure therapy. Last week I spent the week with Jon Abramowitz at a training he gave on exposure therapy in Cape Cod. Reading the book a second time and appreciating Abramowitz's book even more after the training. This is a great book to read to get an introduction to ERP and to re-read...a great resource.
What a helpful book. I am definitely buying this one. Goes through how to plan and implement exposures for every anxiety problem and discusses problems and tips along the way. I definitely recommend it!
should be required reading for anyone treating anxiety disorders
This books a combination of a solid evaluation of treatments for anxiety disorders, a step by step description of how the therapist should proceed and a valuable discussion of the ethics of doing exposure based CBT. The evidence is clear that Exposure based CBT is the best treatment for anxiety disorders but it is often not provided. The book incudes a discussion of why this occurs and can help therapists to learn this powerful approach .
An amazing book that covers "anxiety tx and all ralted to this learning mechanism", ofc this book is clearly related to behaviorism more than cbt imo. Clear, evidence-based, good to prepare the therapy ground and treatments, etc...
Just you read it.
Thanks to my teacher for giving advice in such a great book.
I appreciated the information and layout of this book which can be used as a reference book for treating specific types of anxiety. As a MFT intern, I especially appreciated the chapter on involving significant others in treatment.
