Lydie
Avez-vous déjà entendu parler de "l'impasse du bébé à moustache" ? Ne cherchez pas ce bout de rue sur un plan, vous perdriez votre temps ! Seuls Zidrou et Jordi Lafebre peuvent vous y conduire ! Les habitants de l'impasse, les "moustachus", partagent les joies et les peines du quotidien sous le regard d'une statuette de madone à l'enfant Jésus. Alors quand Camille, jeune femme simple d'esprit, perd sa petite Lydie tout juste née, tous les habitants la soutiennent. Ils sont solidaires à nouveau lorsque Camille leur annonce le retour miraculeux de sa petite fille. Mieux vaut un joli mensonge qu'une vilaine vérité, pensent-ils tous. Seulement qu'arrive-t-il quand la vérité reprend ses droits ?

Nos últimos contactos com graphic novels, percebo que lhes permito a pieguice que condeno na restante literatura. “Lydie” é mais um desses casos em que já nas primeiras páginas estou a sacudir as mãos à frente dos olhos.
“Lydie” tem uma narradora inusitada, a estátua de uma Nossa Senhora que, no alto do seu nicho no Beco do Bebé Bigodudo, tem um ponto de vista privilegiado sobre os seus moradores. É aí que, uma noite, Camille, uma jovem solteira entra em trabalho de parto. Apesar de nada ter em comum a nível temático, esta obra fez-me lembrar “A Vida é Bela” de Roberto Benigni na construção da ilusão. Até que ponto se pode levar uma mentira para proteger alguém da dura realidade?
De hecho, cada uno le habla a su muerto…

The story of
Lydie
will leave readers on thinking of what could be real or not, especially the ending. While reading the unfortunate story of Camille, I can't help but sympathize with her loss. I could be just like her neighbors who tried to understand her situation and just let her believe that her baby came alive. They were not making a fool out of her by trying to act as if what she was saying is true, hence, they thought it is the only way to make Camille at least be happy and still go on with her life.
Lydie is a graphic novel that will teach us about empathy, love, friendship, and faith. Lastly, the mystery in the ending is another great way to end the story of Camille and the people of Mustachioed Baby Court. It is quite thought-provoking and will make you think of who is really the sane one and what is the truth.

Docteur... vous croyez qu'on va devoir?...
L'interner? Bien sur que non. Si on devait interner une persone uniquement parce qu'elle est hereuse!
Après tout, pourquoi faire du mal quand il est si facile de faire du bien?
Já tinha lido este livro em 2021. Agora, volvidos dois anos, e com a febre do lançamento em Portugal, fui relê-lo. Continua a ser uma história muito querida e terna. Muitos poderão achar que a conivência dos habitantes do "L' Impasse" não é correta, mas eu achei um exercício maravilhoso de empatia. Afinal, para quê acabar com a felicidade de alguém que não está a fazer nada de errado nem a prejudicar ninguém?
Continua a ser um livro que aquece o coração e eu quero acreditar que a Camille sempre esteve certa.

PT Maldito sejas, Zidrou!
Como é possível escreveres uma história que é, ao mesmo tempo, de partir o coração e de encher a alma?
Não estava preparado para isto. Juro que não vi nada disto a acontecer.
Sinceramente, estava convencido de que este livro era sobrevalorizado. Não é.
Adorei.
Poderia dizer muito sobre a história mas, para ser honesto, só me apetece guardá-la para mim.
Há sentimentos e emoções que merecem permanecer protegidos no silêncio dos nossos corações.

Its said that an old african proverb says that 'It takes a village to raise a child', however in some place in France in 1932 an old neighborhood get together to open their heart to a grieving young mother and her father. And to a very special baby.
When Camille, described as simple-minded and only daughter of a widower train conductor, has a stillborn baby, the comments are diverse; but when she 2 months later run calling a miracle that little Lydie came back from Heaven , is a sorprise for Papa ChooChoo that all the neighbors play along.
We are introduced then to the special community of the "Mustachioed Baby Court". It's delighful to read and enjoy the drawings. The quirks of just people - the good people, the mean kids, the earnest doctor, the playful girls, gossiping olders - , an so about family, friendship, compassion and solidarity.
And best of all, it keep us wondering . . . it is really imaginary?, a spirit?, why is that happening? is all the make-believe starting something? Because why the children draw almost exactly the same Lydie?

Cuando se tiene un cómic entre las manos en el que interviene Jordi Lafebre se entiende porque a los cómics se les llama el noveno arte. Ya quedé enamorado con "Carta blanca" y sabía que me lanzaría de cabeza a por cualquier novedad de él. En este caso una nueva edición de "Lydie".
Al guión está Zidrou en esta historia dura en su principio. Desgarradora. Para poco a poco dulcificarse con la empatía de sus personajes.
Una obra de arte condensada en 70 páginas.
“El bebé nació muerto. Era una niña. Lydie se iba a llamar. Y después, un día, tras meses de lágrimas, Camille empezó a contarle a todo el mundo que su bebé había vuelto, que le habían devuelto a su Lydie. ¿Qué habríais hecho vosotros en nuestro lugar? No queríamos entristecer a aquella pobre chica. Así que le seguimos el juego. Al fin y al cabo, ¿por qué hacer el mal cuando resulta tan sencillo hacer el bien?”

A heartwarming short story about a feeble-minded young woman who gives birth to a stillborn child. (I know it sounds horrific, not cute. Just stick with me.) Two months later she is still pretending her daughter is still alive. (Don't worry, the child is imaginary, not a corpse.) The tight-knit neighborhood slowly comes around to entertaining her delusion while Camille raises Lydie to adulthood.
Jordie Lafebre's art looks like it stepped out of a quaint European cartoon. It's beautiful.

Esta dupla é mesmo garantia de qualidade, em conjunto ou a solo. Se ainda não os conhecem, recomendo muito que não percam a oportunidade de ler alguns dos vários livros que já têm publicados em Portugal.
Este é um livro tão triste e, ao mesmo tempo, tão bonito. Um luto traumático vivido de forma algo surreal e que conta com a solidariedade e empatia da comunidade de um pequeno bairro.
A entreajuda, a humanidade e a bondade são os protagonistas desta história, que tem como narrador uma personagem inusitada e original.
A complementar este argumento sensível e tocante de Zidrou, está a expressiva arte de Lafebre. Uma combinação perfeita.
"Afinal, porquê fazer o mal quando é tão fácil fazer o bem?"
"Têm razão em dizer que uma mãe não é nada sem o seu filho."

Acabado en un suspiro. Un tema delicado del duelo de una madre cuando su bebé muere al nacer.
El papel del padre me ha parecido fabuloso, comprensivo... El libro en general está escrito con mucho cariño. Cómo los vecinos empiezan a empatizar con la madre, cómo la van ayudando para que salga adelante... Ojalá el mundo fuera así.
El final te deja un poco descolocada pero es muy bonito. Se lee rápido y los dibujos son bonitos.

Una novela gráfica cortita pero muy intensa, intensa en emociones.
En un barrio pobre francés, en los años 20, una joven madre soltera pierde a su bebé al dar a luz, pero no puede aceptarlo. Así que su mente la convence de que el bebé está vivo. ¿Por qué negarle esa felicidad cuando es tan fácil hacer el bien?
Como he dicho, es una historia muy emotiva, que me ha hecho soltar alguna lagrimita, pero que te deja con una muy buena sensación, y es que todo el mundo se une para procurar la felicidad de una persona.
Recomendable tanto por la trama como por las ilustraciones, muy reales, que transmiten todo el sentimiento de la historia.

It is a wonderful little graphic novel about the power of a community that may not have much money and may not like each other but come together to help one of theirs. In the process, perhaps, they became better for it. The story is sentimental, but not sweet. It hearkens to Chocolat in part, that same type of feeling.
Lafebre’s illustrations are beautiful and remind me of the Triplets of Belleville.

I loved this graphic novel! It was short and sweet, but it
was beautiful. The story was definitely original, i thought it would take a while for me to enjoy it but i found myself racing through it! The story of Lydie and her family is beautiful in their little street in what seems like France. It showed the beauty of compassion and the unwavering love of a mother no matter her means or mind and i. loved. it.

Un cómic muy bonito y triste, pero mágico también . Una chica que se queda embarazada y tiene a una bebé muerta, una padre comprensivo y una calle maravillosa. Una historia conmovedora llena de solidaridad y comprensión. Al principio lo he pasado mal por la protagonista, luego he sentido pena pero luego la Hisense llena de magia y esperanza. Unos dibujos muy bonitos y una historia que lee en un suspiro.

Lydie kinda reminded me of a movie: " Lars and the real girl"
And I dont know, maybe because maternity phenomenon comes into play, I've found it waay more emotional and hearthwarming. No need to say the art and colors are beautiful.

Una novela gráfica donde ayudada por los dibujos se plasma muy bien el padecimiento causado por una pérdida tan dolorosa como lo es la de un hijo al nacer, y como la protagonista lo "revive" para hacer soportable ese dolor. Cómo incluso tu como lector, pareces divisar su figura a lo largo de las páginas. Una historia muy tierna y muy bien contada.

I really love this heartwarming and adorable story. It brings home the message of community and the beauty of compassion. The artwork is stunning and well suited to this story supposedly taking place in a small town somewhere in France, in the 1930s.

Um livro pequeno no numero de páginas mas imenso em generosidade. Belíssimo, tanto na forma como o argumento está construído e nos envolve - daquela maneira que Zidrou tão bem sabe fazer - como na elevada qualidade do trabalho visual.
Gostei muito!
E não posso deixar de parabenizar as Arte de Autor e A Seita por mais uma escolha certeira para o catálogo de livros de banda desenhada que ambas as editoras colocam à nossa disposição.

ler Lydie foi reconhecer que há muitas formas de viver a maternidade, que há muitas forma de viver o luto e que não cabe a ninguém julgar as mesmas.
achava que esta história ia ter uma premissa mais “simples” ou mais típica das que encontramos com estes temas, mas não, deu-me completamente a volta e apanhou-me desprevenida e ainda bem que assim foi.
adorei as ilustrações e a cor, fiquei fascinada com o sentimento de comunidade e união desta vila e ficou-me gravado no coração.
foi mais um dos livros que o meu mestre @geek.over.booked me emprestou e é mais um que quero ter na minha estante, vale mesmo muito a pena.

Uma coisa que esta dupla de autores nos vai dar sempre: Lafebre, lindas ilustrações; Zidrou, argumentos muito bem elaborados
com personagens de muitas camadas que vamos adorar conhecer...
Esta história não foge a essa regra e ainda que não seja, provavelmente, o livro de que mais gostei destes autores, ainda assim, é muito bom!

This is an odd little tale. The child, Lydie, was still born, and yet, her mother believes that she has come back from heaven, though no one can see her, and proceeds to raise her.
Does she exist? The statue of the Virgin Mary, who is telling the story, says she doesn’t know. She only knows that the mother believes the child does, and that the neighbors help her along, as does her father.
There are clues that she might exist. The children can see her, and draw pictures of her. It is very odd. When her grandfather goes to put a new coin under the invisible girl’s pillow, he finds a tooth. And just before he dies, he not only hears her, but responds to her, as though he has heard her before.
Perhaps a mother’s love has made her real.
Beautiful, old fashioned type of illustrations, as this is supposed to be taking place in the 1930s, in a village somewhere in France.
The illustrator has great use of body language, and draws all sorts of shapes and sizes. Even though it is an odd little book, I enjoyed it enough to finish it. Lafebre knows how do draw people, as though he has been observing small towns and their inhabitants.
