Bear Hunting with the Politburo, Updated: American Adventures in Russian Capitalism

Rate this book
Mikhail Gorbachev's attempts to reconfigure the Soviet Union's economic system resulted in rampant inflation, a depressed economy, and eventually an attempted coup d'etat. Craig Copetas, a journalist who lived for three years in Moscow, provides a close-up look at the obstacles to a free market facing Russia's fledgling entrepreneurs-the corruption, under-the-table deals, and capital flight crippling a market where business, politics, and the underworld are indistinguishable. This new edition contains a substantial update, bringing this saga of Russian enterprise into the 21st century.

Definitely a dated book. The author came off as very condescending toward the Russian people and had a tendency to ramble on.
