Denny Logan's feeling left out of the "in crowd". It wouldn't be so bad at his new school if Alice didn't completely ignore him. Then there's Todd, full of testosterone and false bravado. The only thing worth focusing on is rugby and making the first fifteen. Suggested level: secondary.

A great book for Year 9's - short and accessible, with relevant, moral themes like 'consequences have actions' for young teens. I have taught this for a few years now, and despite it being written in 99, it still elicits strong engagement in class.

Pretty good! Denny is a righteous guy, but realistically / believably so. I haven't read a book with this noble a hero in a while. Nice to be reminded it can happen, and it can work.

Great book! Denny was a really cool guy! Really cool ending. Beale writes VERY well. Heck, I hate rugby. She managed to bring something I don't like into an amazing book. Well done! Read it!!!!
