Cruel Is My Court

They were right to call me a thief.

I stole the king’s magic and made his power mine.

The day I claimed the magic, I was cursed by an ancient prophecy, binding me to four others—a beastly gambler, an honorable slave, the Shadow King’s deadly general and a mysterious aristocrat.

Every time I use my new power, we’re tangled more tightly togethe. Now our survival hinges on us outwitting the cunning Old Gods who brought us together in the first place. They say our curse is unbreakable, that we’re doomed to become monsters like them, but I don’t believe their lies.

All I know is, we’re the only ones standing between our world and the dark magic prophesied to destroy it. There is nothing I won’t do to save my males.

And they’ll burn this world to the ground to protect me.

I say, let the biggest monsters win.

**Cruel Is My Court is a dark Fae fantasy romance with elements of forbidden love, found family, fated mates, enemies to lovers, reluctant heroes, featuring plot heavy romance with Fae, monsters, and political conflict.

Cruel is My Court is another Fantabulous dark fantasy reverse romance by the amazingly talented writer L.A. McGinnis!!!! She truly is a fabulous storyteller who pulls you in taking you a wild lusty ride with a storyline that's sure to keep you entertained! This reverse harem is diverse with not only a complexed FMC but four equally complexed males who are all different and bring something new and exciting to the harem. I can't get over how strong and brave the female lead is. Anaria was raised as a slave to the fae but her manner and heart and total support of these alpha males scream future queen. I also love how her and Raziel have bonded and their chemistry has been their since the beginning and now with Zor being added to their bed games its so fucking hot!!!! God lord I got all kinds of turned on just reading it! Well done L.A. !!!! One of the best reverse harem love scenes I've ever read! Can't wait till they bring dark and dangerous Tavion into the mix!!! I love this beastly werewolf shifter!!! His and Anaria's constant butting heads will make for some great bedroom play!
Tristan is still being his annoying stuck up self bitching about everything and everybody but I still hold out hope that this handsome clever archer will be brought into the fold. Theirs a lot of shit going on in this fast paced read and some twists and turns with so many enemies its hard to know the good guys from the bad and that includes high fae and mother to Anaria, Adele who they rescued from the kings dungeon! The bitch is acting anything but motherly. We also find out what happened to Zor in the past and I can now see why he didn't want any woman to ever touch him again! Their is a few major battles with not only the Mistress but the scary and power hungry Oracle and Corvus a dark and twisted old god who's been trapped without his full power for over a thousand millennia who wants Anaria's stolen magic. What Anaria doesn't know is not only is she the fae kings daughter but she comes from a line of some very powerful witches! I can't get enough of this series and I can't wait till early next year for book 3 Merciless Is My Crown !!! Until next time Luv's💕💋

Zorander is leading the Shadow King’s army to march on Caladrius. Now that the Fae King is weakened. Tavion managed to get Anaria out of the city by using the excuse of visiting the Montgomery lands and family. The Oracle manages to send a message to meet in 4 days. They’ll have to go without Zor as there’s no way to get word to him. Tristian and Raziel go without Zor Anaria and Tavion.

When they reach the Montgomery castle, it is in dire need of attention. Tavion’s father, Lucius, is stuck in a half shift. This happens when the man is weak and the wolf comes through. Lucius is gutted after Tavion’s mother passed from a unique and sudden illness related to her being a silver wolf. He mentions how Tavion has the same genetic mutation but has no idea he’s sick. Julian’s death is what did him in and he hasn’t been able to fully shift since. Anaria helps to smooth out some tight tension between Tavion and Lucius. The Montgomery’s have been smuggling goods into Tempeste through secret tunnels for decades. They’ll use these to get to the Oracle on time.

They reach the tunnels and spend days traveling in the dark. Before reaching a portal that leads to Tempeste, they stumble upon huge skulls. Much like Torin’s throne… When Anaria touches it, it transports her into a memory. The battle of the old gods and the fae. It shows how the fae were able to defeat the gods and win. (Sus).

They pass through the portal and make it to the Wynter Palace. (A family who was wiped out by the Fae King) Anaria finds a keystone after the ghost of Torin seemed to lead her there. The Oracle arrives and tells them that this battle about to ensue will spill enough blood to remake the world. To awaken an ancient wild magic that will cause chaos and ultimately destruction before the new world can be built. Zorander’s army is being led into a trap. But the Oracle wants Anaria to ensure blood is spilt.

Despite her best efforts, Anaria is unable to convince Zor to leave. They’re heavily outnumbered and underestimated the size of their enemy. It’s a lost cause. Still Zor leads the Caladrian forces. Anaria manages to break Raziel out of prison and free Adele with the help of Tavion. Tristian is still just kind of… there.

They run into the Fae King on their way out and Anaria almost kills him. Almost.

Anaria is held captive by the Oracle and the Mistress. Raziel break the collar to go in and save her (but she didn’t need his saving) and Zor died. Anaria refuses to accept Zor’s death and uses her magic and the keystone to bring him back!

The Oracle keeps Adele, Tavion, and Tristian as collateral to ensure Anaria does her bidding. When the Wild Magic returns, Anaria still refuses to comply and the Oracle uses the collateral. Another test of her magic. Anaria must find where they’re buried alive. She asks the newly created forest for help and it answers.

While Anaria recovers, Adele tells Zor and Tavion of their family history. Turns out Adele is a Wynter. She hails from a line of pureblooded witches from the barrens. The pure witch blood combined with the pure fae blood, makes Anaria the most powerful creature to exist. But Adele has been working with the Oracle this whole time as well.

Turns out the Oracle is the old goddess of chaos. Her brother, Corvus, the god of corruption, manages to kidnap Anaria. He tries to get her to hand over her power. She finds it suspicious and holds out. Only to be met with the Oracle. They’ve been working together this whole time and it comes to light that Anaria is the old goddess of life reincarnated. The battle that killed the old gods killed Anaria’s ancestor and every 100 years, that magic returns to find another.

Anaria manages to escape thanks to Torin. Who takes her back to save Tavion. They finally admit their feelings for each other. When they regroup, Raz heals Tavion who is near death but can’t heal the poisoned wounds inflicted by Corvus. Torin knows of a healer but they have to get there first.

An enjoyable, action-packed read with some satisfying development on the romance front after the first book, particularly with Tavion. Raz is already firmly secure in his place as first devoted simp and Zor isn't far behind. Tavion was really awful previously, but he really grew on me a lot here... though maybe it helped that it's been a while and my memory is hazy. The hatchet is finally buried, though, and that last line in the epilogue tugged at my heartstrings.

Unfortunately, Tristan has remained as essentially a boring side character that doesn't get on very well with anyone (but especially Anaria, of course). I kind of forgot that he was even around until someone would mention him corraling the horses or he would say something nasty for no reason. If McGinnis is intending for him to be a love interest, he's going to need some serious attention in the next installment. Either that, or else perhaps he'll end up staying as a non-romantic/sexual side character. I wouldn't even mind because he just irritated me.

I do think that the book could have benefited from some heavier editing; it felt unnecessarily long with much of the time being spent on repeated kidnappings and so on. There are some great ideas here, but some trimming would not go amiss.

Holy cow, what a ride this was!!!!
Took hours, but I read this in one sitting and didn't want to put it down. This was an emotional roller coaster, and I can't wait for the next one, hopefully soon. There is so much action, past and present story happening, and I still don't know what the end game is going to be. You get your steamy parts, which I love, but you also get a ton of story. I still want to kick Tristan, and Tavion is growing on me. I'm already in love with Zor and Raz, so halfway there. Of course, Anaria is still kicking butt and taking names. This ending, though, gah I need to know what happens..... This is such a fantastic series so far, the writing, story and characters are absolutely amazing. I received this as an ARC, but I will be purchasing for my collection.

“Cruel is my Court” by L. A. McGinnis is about Anaria and her four male companions: Tavion, Raziel, Tristan, and Zorander. All of them were brought together after Anaria stole the King’s magic. Now they are cursed with an ancient prophecy that binds them and their fates together. They must fight the Old Gods to win against the war and their fates of death.

I really liked this book. The story has a ton of action and mixed emotions in the characters. They start overcoming their misgivings with each other and start trusting each other. I love reverse harems, though I wish there were a bit more romance scenes in this book. Overall, I loved the characters and how they interacted, and the story, even though it could get a bit confusing at times, was really good. 5 out of 5 stars.

Spoilers-

Not my favorite follow up book, since I liked the first one so much. I feel like a lot is happening but at times it just ends up as chaotic filler. I want to see more character development as it's something that has stalled a little in this one. I am glad she is with Raz but up until around 54 percent of this book that is the only person she is with, then we quickly add Zor and brush past that almost after such a long time with her and Raz's relationship. I feel almost cheated. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes.

Loved every minute of this adventure. The world and the magic is fascinating. The twists and turns kept me on my toes. The characters are fantastically written, all of them perfectly imperfect. Of course, I can't complain about all the steamy bits 😉. The more the plot thickens, the deeper I fall. It does end on a cliffhanger, so be aware that you will be left wanting more!

I think L.A. McGinnis is trying to kill me. This freaking book. Oh my gosh this damn series. I just cannot. My heart gets broken so many times I have lost count. Some authors really do think we can take all this trauma and you know what?!? They are right! Because I am screaming for the next book already!! This is really a masterpiece. I love how tough Anaria is and my heart was wanting more with Zor and Tavion and thank the gods(not the oracle or Corvus) that we got it. That epilogue literally has my mouth hanging open! I mean this group has literally gone through IT!!! I loved every second of this book. Amazing read!

“Cruel is My Court” by L.A. McGinnis is the highly anticipated follow-up to “Savage is My Kingdom” - a steamy dark fantasy romance that touts elements of forbidden love, found family, morally gray men, enemies to lovers, reluctant heroes - and more! It’s an epic fantasy story that’s fast-paced and tells the story of two warring kings and the young woman who’s determined to find her place in the world, on her own terms.

“Cruel is My Court” finds Anaria and her rag-tag team of warriors in the center of the Oracle’s constant scheming and sinister plans; the Oracle wishes to use Anaria to release the old magic that was stripped from the lands long ago. Knowing how much her men and newfound mother, Adele, mean to Anaria, the Oracle uses Anaria’s loved ones to manipulate her into releasing the magic. Anaria is fighting on all fronts - first and most immediately with the Oracle, but also still with the warring kings who continue to look to Anaria as a means of their own personal gain. Despite countless attacks, setbacks, and surprising betrayals, Anaria can’t seem to catch a break.

This sequel also introduces us more thoroughly to the idea that Anaria and her four men are fated beyond the general timeline that they’re currently living - that they in fact have fought similar battles in a previous life before. The book also alludes to the fact that Anaria and her men will become the ultimate weapon once they’ve been thoroughly bonded.

This book was everything I had hoped the sequel would be after completing devouring “Savage is My Kingdom.” It really has it all - it was captivating and fairly well-paced throughout the book. The narrative and plot exhibit intricacy and depth, showcasing exceptional world-building, multifaceted environments, and truly captivating characters.

The characters are extremely well-written and I loved seeing them develop from the first book to the sequel - especially in terms of budding relationships between Anaria and both Zor and Tavion. (That darn illusive Tristan though - I feel he’ll get his day in the next book!) I also appreciated the detail to Tavion’s relationship with his father in this book, as I felt that was a major “aha” for the reasons behind some of Tavion’s behavior and general grumpiness half the time.

“Cruel is My Court” was THE follow-up I was hoping for after reading the first book. It is an incredibly compelling and shadowy tale filled with action from the very beginning, incorporating elements of prophecy, enigma, and political intrigue. The characters are masterfully crafted, each bearing their own imperfections yet sharing a remarkable chemistry. The gradual development of a captivating “who choose” romance adds an extra layer of intrigue, complemented by brilliant plot twists and betrayals revealed, and an unforgettable cliffhanger at the conclusion of the novel.

[Thank you to L.A. McGinnis and BookSirens for providing me with a copy of “Cruel is My Court” for which I am providing a voluntary and honest review.]

If I thought that I screamed reading book 1? Well…book 2 said “hold my beer.” I was NOT ready for book 2 because THIS?! I. Am. Unwell. I thought I was prepared for the plot twists, and I thought wrong. The meddling gods – ancient and malevolent beings trying to fulfill their own agendas, and the amount of secrets we are still uncovering?! My emotions were all over the place – joy, embracing rage, DESPAIR (I’m talking about tears almost falling), shock…staring at a wall…BUT good thing book 3 is ready for me! 😂

Anaria stole the Fae King’s magic and made his power her own, but power always comes with a price.

Claiming that magic awakened an ancient prophecy and bound Anaria to four men: a beastly gambler, an honorable slave, the Shadow King’s deadly general and a mysterious aristocrat. Bound by blood and shadow, their souls are intertwined – a connection that grows each time Anaria uses her magic. And the consequence of using that power? Anaria and her men are transforming into the very monsters they’re fighting against.

The Old Gods have orchestrated this curse, a trap to turn each of them into their pawns, while desiring to have this world at their mercy…just waiting for Anaria and those closest to her to fall.

But what the Old Gods didn’t count on? The fact that Anaria bows to no one and is willing to steal fate to save everything she loves.

Well, I’m here to tell you...this book tried to break me a few times, but I survived…barely 😂 My girl Anaria is GOING THROUGH IT and my heart crumbled and had to be rebuilt multiple times. The amount of people keeping secrets from Anaria so far? The way we are questioning everyone and can trust…no one and nothing? The devious Old Gods? I can confirm I said “we ride at dawn”, ready to fight fictional characters 😂 they're trying us all! I am ride or 💀 for this group – Anaria and all of her men (even if one person still has to prove themselves to me because this is a package deal lol) – and am living for this found family getting their act together and learning to work as a true team, feelings coming out into the open amidst the horrors they’re facing. Do I have any idea on how things are going to go? Nope *pops p* but I can’t wait to find out!

If you enjoy reading about an FMC who is willing to protect the world from every villain she encounters while supported by four delicious morally grey antiheroes at her side, found family vibes, and the urge to do whatever it takes to claim their HEA…then start this series! I cannot recommend it enough!

I don’t like it as much as the first, but that is because the war, the action seems to overwhelm all else, and the story is too long for my tastes. You may have a different opinion.

he one thing you can guarantee with reverse harem is that you will be able to indulge in your favorite tropes!

Tavion: Anaria was corralled into a fake marriage with a man she hates. The book starts with Anaria on a trip to meet his family while her other men attack the fae king’s army. Naturally, she is angry that she was whisked away from the action.

“The Oracle brought us together to create a weapon she’d use to destroy the world.
⁃ Except I was nobody’s weapon.”*

But when Tavion and Anaria stop at his estate, she (and I) immediately melt upon seeing Tavion’s father, stuck in partially-shifted mode, limping, and half-starved. He may look frightful, but he has a heart of gold:
“Julian believed you were the only one who could unite the three realms. I always thought Tavion was too bitter to believe in anything. But he believes in you.”
Normally I want the action, but I really loved the interaction between Tavion’s uncle and his father.

Unfortunately, with a war coming and the oracle’s summons, they have to leave. The oracle is lovingly described with her arachnid legs, her scraping heard long before her arrival:
“My goals are your own. My will is yours.” Hello? That is not what being a seer means. This oracle plans to make her visions come true. What is immortality if you are enslaved to a vision forever?

Anaria is determined not to become a slave yet again, this time to the Oracle, but using her power to destroy the opposing army and save her companions would bind them even more. She is a goddess in power, with a “nuclear” bomb at her disposal:

“I blew out a long, unbelieving breath at the ashy remains of what had once been the king’s deadliest hunting beasts,”
“I meant to burn this city to the fucking ground starting with that prison.
⁃ But I’d do it out of love, I reminded myself.”*

There is a fine line between love and vengeance, and burning the city down is still vengeance, no matter the idealism.

⁃ Zombie army
⁃ Mother held hostage
⁃ Plot-heavy
⁃ Burn the world down to save the world

*Book two in Wicked Realms Series, check out book one, Savage Is My Kingdom if you have not already, review is on my page*

Thank you so much @l.a.mcginnis for this ARC, I loved reading Savage Is My Kingdom as an ARC and am so happy to continue the series🤍

This fae fantasy romance absolutely blew my mind with book one and now even more with book two. Truly, this series does not disappoint! So many elements of secrets, betrayals, mystery, morally grey characters, wicked fae, monsters, darkness, and of course some reverse harem action🔥. If you thought the first book was good just wait for this one.

I absolutely love the character development in this series, I love getting to see each of them grow along the way even with PLENTY of things getting thrown their way left and right. The plot? AMAZING. I love a good romance especially reverse harem but what gets me hooked into series and makes me keep reading is the plot. I was constantly turning the pages trying to find out what was happening & the way I GASPED probably a million times during this book.

Anaria stays being a truly amazing FMC. Zor and Raz still completely have my heart. Tavion has had a rough go around but i’m excited to see what happens with him and Anaria in the next book. Still not sure what is going on with Tristan, waiting to see if we’ll get a love match with him as well🤔.

This book truly had me going through all the emotions. I was angry at the situations they keep getting put in, absolutely devastated when it came to Zor, Raz, Tavion & at the end Anaria (you’ll know what all I am talking about if you read the book😉) and I was also squealing with excitement & love (especially when it came to a little action between Zor, Raz & Anaria🔥).

I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series, Merciless Is My Crown. I need to know what’s happening after the end of this book but more importantly I need to see more of Anaria and the boys!!!

Nightcairn Castle is where we start this story, the home of Tavion (wolf-shifter), and his estranged father. Tavion hasn’t been home in an exceedingly long time, and coming home with a wife in tow probably isn’t the best way. The king’s slayers, Crux and Lyrae are following our group, and if they get wind of the marriage being one of convenience, they will be killed on the spot. Raziel (enslaved to the King, and the biggest part of Anaria’s heart) and Tristan (archer) are hiding and following within the forest to ensure that Anaria is safe. The rest of her heart is with Zorander (the King’s General), who is off to fight the second king. Anaria and her men must fight the Old Gods in order to save their world, and it won’t be easy.

Returning to the fantasy world of L.A. McGinnis wasn’t hard, and world building is MASSIVE in this second book. There is a reason for it because this world is changing fast, and if Anaria gains any more power I think trees might burst through the pages. This second book read a little slower than the first tale, but in my opinion it’s because of the world building. I am thoroughly enjoying this realm, and its rebirth. When the spice falls into the story it’s red-hot-spicy, Anaria is coming around to her “why choose” moments, and I can’t wait to see who she chooses next.

I am truly excited and delighted with this series of books. Book 2 is just if not more exciting than first book as has the bonus of more steamy sex scenes with Anaria's gorgeous flawed warrior men. Also get to discover, connect and learn more about each of her men and her growing special relationship with each of them. Addictive as need next book to see what happens next.
This fantasy world is relentless which makes the books totally engrossing, engaging and page turner. I had to just keep going to find out what happened next and am sure will be reading them many times over at a slower pace now that I know what is ahead. On next reads I will get to saver and enjoy the details and linger of scenes and build up the world in my imagination. Anaria is an amazing character for me and grow to love her more and more with each page turned over.
I cannot wait for these books to find these books in paperback as I want to read them as often as I like, find my favourite scenes marked for easy and have the joy of them in my physical hands. I have only one other fantasy series in paperback I have held onto since I read book 1, now into book 30 and I continue to read them at least once a year. These books I am sure will be another series and author I want to see on my bookshelves to pick up physically and curl up on couch to enjoy.

Although there is a lot more world building in this compared to book one, I found it really easy to get sucked right back into Anaria's story. The mythology is quickly becoming one of my favourite elements as we learn just how important the prophecy is and how long this game has been being played. Betrayal is every where and everyone seems to have an ulterior motive when it comes to Anaria.

I really enjoyed the character development in this one; Zor's relationship with Raz is such a highlight and his own backstory wasn't what I was expecting. Tavion has been my favourite throughout (I love a redemption arc) and his relationship with Lucius broke my heart. I liked how Lucius owned what his actions did to Tavion and how he shaped him into the man he is today; I really want them to reconcile! Tristan however is just there; I'm really not sure what to make of him at all as I didn't ever feel like I missed him. I'm almost at the stage of not trusting him so I'm interested to see where his character goes in the next book. Anaria is truly coming into her own and I cannot wait for her to take the Oracle down!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

The worm has turned

Anaria may have begun as a despised and brutalized slave, but since acquiring the Fae king's magic and a four-man team of fierce protectors, she's taking the fight for freedom to the rival High Fae kings whose constant warfare ruin the land and terrorize the people. But the problem runs deeper than corrupt rulers: there's a monstrously terrifying Oracle who pulls everyone's strings. Even Anaria's. Her attempts to master her magic, even with the loyal -and in some cases, loving - backup of her men, are useless to thwart the Oracle. The breadth and scope of conflict, betrayal, and cruelty in this story is mind-blowing, but so is the deepening solidarity among Anaria's powerful protectors, who reveal hidden depths of magic along with their united commitment to Anaria. After each incredible struggle and near-miraculous escape, the battered but unbowed band finds only fleeting respite before the next horrific betrayal, vicious torture, and impossible challenge. This second novel, like its predecessor, ends in a stunningly orchestrated cliff-hanger which only fuels the desperate need to find out what comes next - in the building reverse harem romance, and the struggle for a new world of peace and freedom. This is a voluntary, independent, I'm-on-pins-and-needles ARC review.

EXCUSE ME?!?!

I thought you left me hanging at the end of the first book BUT THIS?!? And now I have to wait FIVE MONTHS??

I have very little words because I don’t want to give anything away.

I cried, I giggled, my mouth went dry…

This book started and never. slowed. down. Im like okay, great, a breather… SIKE five seconds later we are hurtled through literal and figurative time and space and into the next fight/battle. And the way she talks to the forest and she can feel it listening? What a dream.

I adore this why choose. I am agonizing over Tavion, obsessed with Zorander, and adore Raziel. Im hoping for way more Tristan backstory and way less attitude from him in the next book. I know, I know, a little was revealed and I should be empathetic but he is even crueler than a grief-stricken Tavion.

UM AND ADELE?! Okay, like I said I don’t want to give anything away. All Im saying is I’m hooked and how dare you leave me like this even worse off than the first book. I can’t wait for the full series to be released so I can add it to my physical-copy bookshelf. In the meantime I will be dreaming about the inn scene.

The action is this book does not let up! In this book, Anaria is still wary about using her uncontrollable magic which can cause problems in life or death situations. The Oracle is manipulating their moves but they're seemingly powerless to stop a war from happening.

Development between Anaria and her MMCs vary. Zor is gone for the first third of the book but they reconnect pretty quickly. Her relationship with Raz is sweet. Tavion is struggling being a jerk but he's already in love with her but hasn't admitted his feelings. Tristan on the other hand really does appear to hate her. Not much development happens with him and I'm wondering if he is part of the harem or just there. If there's any indication, those mysterious black marks are a clue….

We do get some answers regarding Raz's collar and something heartbreaking occurs…

I'm still bummed about Julian and his death. For a character to show up and die so suddenly, he left a lasting impression for me.

Very excited to see where the rest of this story goes.

I have been desperately waiting for the second book and as luck would have it it dropped at the busiest time of year so needless to say I am walking around my office a bit like a zombie because this book is simply unputdownable. We rejoin Anaria shortly after she is manipulated into marrying and let's just say that she is not happy about it but needs must and the alternative would have been a lot worse. She and Raz are still so adorable together, their love is tangible. We soon learn that she, Raz, Zor, Tristan and Tavion are more connected than any of them could ever have imagined. Can Zor get over his hatred of touching and being touched by women? Can Anaria, Tavion & Tristan all get over themselves long enough to realise that if they truly trust on each other and let go of the past they have a chance at beating the Oracle and having some kind of peace in their lives but even if they can the path that lies ahead is filled with pitfalls, danger, seemingly unbreakable prophecy and a lot of angst. The characters are superbly crafted and the story will hook you in and not let you go.

If I thought Savage is my Kingdom Book 1 of this series was excellent, I haven't the words to describe this one. From the very first page, I was hooked with more drama, intrigue and some good ol' loving going on. Every single one of her characters, draws you in and plays with your emotions then spits you back out. The Court dilemmas, the power struggles, the greed, all playing against each other, all having their own agendas and poor Anaria getting dragged into it all and Zor, Tavion, Raz and Tristan trying to protect her as much as they can.

Can't wait to start the 3rd book now in the series, Merciless is my Crown. I will need to hole up somewhere so no one disturbs me as that book is not getting put down until I finish it!!!

If you haven't read any of Ms McGinnis's series of books you definitely have to, she is such a good author, every single 1 of her series have been an absolute hit in my eyes. Each book draws you further and further into the drama, always leaving you wanting more, they are that good.

This book is so intricately detailed and so engrossing, it’s hard to set it down. This title is aptly named, and there is enough blood and warfare for everyone and then some. Anaria and her men will be tested beyond their limits, and how they manage to get through this book is a testament to the strong bond that they share. Anaria risks everything to save the men she loves, not once, but three times. With the Oracle still demanding her to do her bidding, Anaria is fighting all the way through. There are some nice down time moments, but they are few and far between in this book. This is not a light read, this is a story that you may have to put down and come back to, just to take a break. But it’s a fantastic series and the second book doesn’t disappoint.

I don’t know how the author has detailed this out, she must have binders full of notes, but there is so many subplots running and I’m looking forward how it all comes together. This is a reverse harem book with both MF and MMF scenes, so if that is something you don’t like, it can be easily skipped over in my opinion as these scenes don’t take over the story. I’ll definitely be moving on with the series

This book is not a standalone and ends on a cliffhanger. My only complaint about this author is the lack of summaries from previous books. If there is a long wait between books, I recommend rereading the previous book because there are so many twisted plots, politics, drama and secrets it is hard to track to the current book.

In book 2, Anaria the MFC finds herself trapped within power struggles with essentially timeless beings. She has to learn how to control her magic, not kill her men, and survive. Each dangerous encounter teaches her more about herself and brings her closer to her men. She is learning what love means while surrounded by war, magic and hunted by multiple enemies.

This book is essentially a nonstop run from one violent encounter to another. Anaria and her men are not given time to regroup or rest most times but they keep stealing what moments they can. Love conquers all is the mantra but is it the truth? The cliffhanger is brutal in this book.

Better than the first book!

3/5 ⭐️
3/5 🌶️

✅Would 💀 for him and her
✅Touch them and die (across all)
✅”who did this to you?”
✅Lost Royals
✅Mated Fae
✅RH

This book brought a larger plot and developed the sub characters more than the first book. Well, I can’t say this is the best RH novel I’ve read I still would say it was a fun, interesting and fast paced read. This book also brought a bit more of the RH spice you’d expect from this genre.

The Warriors started to come into their own in the book, everyone except for Tristan. I’m hoping book 3 focuses more on his relationship because the first two books have lacked any character depth for him.

Anaria in this book was the biggest surprise. She went from a slight damsel in distress who complained more often than not to an almost warrior. While she isn’t the fiercest FMC, she still gain confidence through this book to a point that was interesting to read.

Overall this is an okay RH story with book 2 being much much better than book 1 in terms of plot, editing, and characters.

Captivating second book in series, riveting reading you’ll love every moment of…
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and was delighted when I read the second book and found it to be equally as entertaining and are written extremely well.
The characters and the scenario are complex however, they are written extremely well with scenario’s you can easily visualise making the story more enjoyable and detailed for the reader.
There are also some steamy interludes and some dangerous and action filled moment that will provide readers with a measure of excitement and adventure so that you will read this book in one sitting once you begin.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

Amazing! I’m hooked
I love the ability that L.A. has to make you instantly fall into her series and become addicted to her stories.
From the relationships with all her characters to the extreme danger that they all constantly seem to get themselves into, I love it all.
Reading with anticipation for what is going to happen next, knowing that my feelings will be all over the place as the story develops.
This is the second book in the Wicked Realms series which must be read in order.
The story follows on with Anaria and her band of men. Their relationships are complex, complicated and at times very steamy but all of them are serious about protecting Anaria and fighting together.
With action and devastation throughout the whole book this was a fantastic read that ends not on a cliffhanger but leading you into the next book to come.
Which I definitely intend to read and highly recommend the entire series so far.

Anaria is caught between two kings who want to use her, and old gods who want the magic she claimed for herself. She is determined to outwit the prophecy that binds her to the four men marked by her magic by making sure they all survive, and taking back a world that has been at war for thousands of years.
Fascinating, unique and well written characters that struggle to come to terms with their connection which have been forged by magic and prophecy and that has been manipulated by gods. They are determined to defeat the gods that brought them together and want nothing more than to live a peaceful life free of war. Exciting and action-packed read with political intrigue, betrayal, magic, shifters, fae, gods, and lots of steam. Surprising and unexpected twists in the plot make this a must-read book that I highly recommend to others.

Yes, Yes, Yes!

This second entry in L. A. McGinnis’s Wicked Realms series doesn’t disappoint. Far from it, in fact. Anaria is still trying to master a magic she may or may not want, her men are discovering their own roles in the destiny forced upon them, and the Oracle is getting more evil every day. Typical McGinnis and it’s delicious. I’m always in awe of an author with this much imagination paired with an ability to draw a reader into that sometimes scary terrain. The plot is thick with devilishly wonderful detail and the characters are drawn with precise detail leaving you totally immersed in everything that’s going on. Not a dull moment between the first and last pages. I can’t wait for the rest of this story.

While I liked the plot of this book as much as the first, I’m afraid the need for more editing ended up ruining this book for me. There were countless spelling and continuity errors that could’ve easily been fixed before sending out to readers. And as much as I love a good romance story, I felt like the romance in this book just ended up being unbelievable and forced to progress that part of the plot. Any “development” the characters had felt like it came out of the blue and just to advance the romance plot without actually helping the story as a whole. I wanted to like this story but unfortunately, I couldn’t because of all of this. I received a free ARC of this, and I’m choosing to leave an honest review.

Cruel is my Court. Hell yeah it is.

Book two in L.A. McGinnis' Wicked Realms series immediately sucks you in after book one. This book was filled with intense characters and intrigues, warring fae kings who are brothers living in lands that are ancient and belong to something older which keeps you engaged and longing for discovery.

Anaria is again at the center of this dark, rh, fantasy. The men in her life are passionate, loyal, confusing and distant and so very intense. Not knowing who to trust, and not allowing others to make you a pawn in their unrelenting manipulations is par for the course and has you longing for book three.
