She wrote stories for amusement in her early teenage years, and when she left leaving school, she took a secretarial job at a father-and-son legal firm.
At age twenty-one Helen joined a girlfriend and embarked on a working holiday in Australia, travelling via cruise ship from Auckland to Melbourne. Alas, no shipboard romance, as she spent all four days in her cabin suffering from sea-sickness! After fifteen months working in Melbourne, Helen and her friend bought a vehicle and took three months to drive the length and breadth of Australia, choosing to work in Cairns in order to fund the final leg of our journey to Sydney.
It was in Cairns that Helen met her future husband, Danilo Bianchin, an Italian immigrant from Treviso. He was a tobacco sharefarmer from the tobacco farming community of Mareeba. His English was pitiful, and her command of Italian was nil. Six months later they married, and Helen was flung into cooking for up to nine tobacco pickers, stringing tobacco, feeding 200 chickens, a few turkeys, ducks... plus killing, cleaning and cooking the same! Her knowledge of Italian improved, and there were hilarious moments in retrospect. Some of what she endured was cooking on a wood-burning stove, having no running hot water, a primitive shower and toilet facilities, washing uniforms for two soccer teams during the soccer season... floods, horrendous hailstone damage to tobacco crops, hardship, and the stillbirth of their first child. Then, to their joy, Helen's daughter, Lucia, was born. Three years later the couple returned to New Zealand, where they settled for sixteen years. During those early years, they added two sons, Angelo and Peter, to the family.
With multiple anecdotes of farm life in an Italian community to friends, the idea of writing a book occurred. A romance, set on a tobacco farm in Australia's far north, Queensland, featuring an Italian hero. Helen says, "the background was authentic, believe me!" However the hero was rich and owned the farm artistic license! It took her a year to complete a passable manuscript, typed on a portable typewriter at the dining room table. That first effort was deemed too short with insufficient detail. Helen rewrote it. This time it was considered too long with too much extraneous detail. She revised, then sent it to London. Four months later she received a telegram from Alan Boon (Mills & Boon) to say they intended to publish and a contract would be sent in the mail. It was the most wonderful news!
Helen wrote ten more books while living in New Zealand, then in 1981, her family resettled in Australia, on Queensland's Gold Coast. She has since published twenty-five more books. Today, with computer technology, the mechanics of writing are much easier. However, the writing process doesn't change. Helen says that she's having a good day if she can achieve 5 good pages, which she is likely to change, edit and rewrite the following day.
She loves creating characters, giving them life and providing a situation where their emotions are tested and love wins out. For her, the greatest praise is for a reader to say they couldn't put the book down... then Helen knows that she has achieved what she set out to do -- "create a moving enjoyable story which holds the reader entertained from beginning to end."
Helen's hobbies are tennis, table-tennis, judo, reading. She loves movies, and leads an active social life.

2.5 rounded up. Heroine was in an abusive relationship and divorced the guy. Her father was worried about her and his business so his will contained a forced marriage clause to the hero.
Hero turns out to be just what the heroine needed. Most of the story is the hero realizing what the heroine has gone through and patiently drawing her out of her shell. He takes as many showers as she does, so they are a match made in heaven.

I wish HB would change up her style a li'l bit once in a blue moon. She tends to write a familiar formula : sparse dialogues (when I say sparse, I mean : short sentences + a disconnect emotionally), a catty ex-mis w/ claws (but I give her credit that heroine gets the upper hand. Yay !), too-detailed mundane activities like eating, bathing, shopping etc. Not much meat to chew on. Why the 4* ? The hero, Loukas. He's not the typical @$$ that U usually see in HPlandia. Alesha got burned by her 1st marriage, she's pretty sliced up physically & mentally after the domestic abuse. He has to tread v. carefully around her, sensing somethin's not right 'cuz she's v. skittish whenever he tries to poke her tightly-sealed holes. He agrees initially to her terms : separate beds. She's a career-oriented chick & drives a BMW. He's a gazillionaire who drives an Aston Martin & lives in a mansion. Yeah U know U're immersed in a jet set when Chanel wedding gowns & brand name flashy cars are shamelessly paraded. Did I mention that the heroine wears a satin thong ? Wooooof ! Of course she gets turned on by his tight buns during soapy bath. He finally scores & she learns that xhex can be enjoyable after all. Then the icing on the cake, he gets even w/ the slimebag on his wife's behalf, by ruining heroine's ex. Well, I broke my temporary, self-imposed rule of 'no Greek heroes' 'cuz I luv unholy merger thanx to expired pimp daddy. The hero saves the day.

Very cheesy and passionate love story about a marriage of convenience. Heroine had been married before and she was mentally and physically abused. It was great how hero's love healed her and it was great how hero ruined her ex bastard husband. He was a strong and sexy alpha hero! Epilogue with their twins was super cute!!

Almost 4 🌟 cuz uhh Lukas 🥵🔥🫠
So it took me (apparently) 2 years to get to the end no jokes. I recall picking it up and then abandoning it a hundred times and well time to call it a day.
The MCs are forced to have an MoC thanks to a clause in the h’s late father’s will that can’t be avoided. The h is angry about this with her previous traumatic marriage to an abusive man who wanted all her dough. Understandably she hates close contact and sharing breathing space with yet another man. Despite all of this the h still didn’t have to be so crabby about it. She was always mad and shooting sarcastic jaded replies to the H’s hot verbal sparring.
The h had also been running her father’s business so she wasn’t a wilting wall flower at any point and that is precisely my point. It’s not like she didn’t have her daddy’s millions to fall back on and recuperate after her traumatic marriage.. she wasn’t living by herself waiting tables to pay her rent. So my point, she didn’t have to be so aggressive and carry masculine energy like she didn’t ever need a man. Also no reason to be so rude all the time, she could’ve been slightly softer to a man’s chivalry, but no. Alesha had to be wearing her pants to prove a point. I got turned off by her constant reminders to the H that she pays her own dinner bill and drives herself to wherever she has to go and also opens her own doors.
The H was hot and unbothered to her despicable manners and still kept giving her time to accept him as her husband. To die for husband and an ungrateful moody B word lady. And so after putting the book down cuz how else will you shut up the h on her tirade.. finally it ended.
Surprise spoiler by the end that makes the h stop and realize the package deal she has. HEA with babies but in all honesty I’d already checked out and couldn’t stand the h.

And our hero is spectacular! He gradually will knowing the heroine and the secrets she keeps and at every turn he is kind, gentle and caring.
And he is not indifferent to the suffering of the heroin, he acts and makes her enemies his enemies and take revenge.

Barely being able to contain the furry he feels towards the man who would lay a hand on Alesha, he makes it his personal mission to help her overcome her fears. Slowly, he tries new things with her and eventually she blossoms into a bedroom butterfly. I loved the fact that he didn't push her. He was a true gentleman about it.

I actually had forgotten I'd read this, but loved it just as much the second time around. This time I read it in the compilation "Marriage of Convenience" with "The Replacement Wife" by Caitlin Crews.

The reader gets both his viewpoint and hers as their relationship develops.
Some of my favorite parts:

Not a bad story, but I lost a little interest toward the middle. The story picked up again, though, toward the end. IMO, the reason for the h's reluctance to marry wasn't convincingly conveyed. I think there would've been a lot more residual PTSD, even a few years down the line. YMMV, but for me, it bordered on boring at times.

Not much happens except in the bedroom. Just OK. Had author spent less time on detailing food, bathing and shopping it may have been better.

Romance extremamente singelo, fiquei chocada, primeiro Dominadores, que não tem nada de dominador ou dominação.
Loukas, na realidade tem uma personalidade forte, como qualquer homem que vale apena, mas dominador não. Ele é macho, sedutor e sexy.
A princípio tem muita paciência com Alesha, mas depois que fica sabendo dos traumas dela, ele se torna extremamente, descaradamente e terrivelmente... maravilhoso.
Que Homem!!!
Se fosse possível daria 10 estrelas pra ele... LOUKAS... que Deus Grego!!!

Everything happens very fast and there isn't much dialogue between the H/h, but there are plenty of searing looks and fleeting touches that makes those two fall in love with each other. LOL. Classic Helen Bianchin, perfect for when you're in the mood for a sweet and quick read.

One word... Loukas! This man is everything. This is a really different type of story from the usual HP fare. A tale of love and healing, with the annoying villians getting their comeuppance. This book made me feel happy, so 5 well deserved stars.

Novela muy plana, sin muchos sobresaltos. El mayor conflicto es un trauma que afectaba a la protagonista, pero no le genera problemas al momento de tener que concretar: lo supera muy fácilmente. Como no hay conflictos —ni celos, ni dudas, ni nada— la novela agrega muchas cosas que no aportan a la historia; muchos detalles que no sirven para nada. Y nosotros, esperando que pase algo con eso.
La historia empieza de manera muy ilógica, como siempre. El padre de Alesha muere y, para heredar todo, ella se tiene que casar con Loukas. ¡Claro! Loukas es muy bello y muy, muy rico. ¿Por qué mi padre no me hizo eso al morir?
Le doy un mérito a la escritora: el chico le explica a ella que el padre se había endeudado mucho (por eso, calculo, también dejó la condición de que se casara), y si Alesha no acepta el negocio, quizás todo se va a la quiebra. Ella acepta para salvar la empresa.
Ella había tenido un novio abusivo y eso la había marcado, siendo en su momento salvada por su padre. Y pienso: ¿el padre no se arriesgó mucho a que su hija sufriera lo mismo otra vez con un completo desconocido?
Bue. Novelón, novelón. HEA para ambos.

This had been an interesting read. The characters attitude were refreshing and it had been a long time since I’ve read an HB books that I had fun reading this.
The story had a good flow with the H, Loukas being patient and helping the h to get over her trauma. Her first marriage was a disaster where her husband was abusive and I respect her for her success at her job.
What I didn’t like in the story was the small amount of communication between the couple but I guess the book is more like actions speak louder that words. There was a long lines of descriptive words that made me felt bored and made me skimmed some parts.
I would recommend it to all who are looking for something relaxing to read in a slow paced. I did like the book a lot as it was different from all the books I had read recently.

Alesha's father has died and she is unprepared for the reading of his will. He has picked out her next husband. Yes next husband. Her first ended before the ink dried on the marriage certificate. The man he picked is from his home country of Greece. An old family friend' son. Loukas on his own has the clout and business acumen to take a hold of her fathers business with her and make it great again. Her first marriage has her afraid of men and the will has her terrified. Loukas has his work cut out for him. In true H. Bianchin fashion there is the drama of the story line. She even threw in the OW angst for a bit of spice. But Alesha was not going to become the downtrodden wife in this story. She took care of the problem herself. Read and find out how. It made me laugh.

The second M&B I am reading simultaneously, with an appropriate title, where the H/h are on an equal footing. Also, it deals with the issues of abuse/marital rape sensitively with great understanding on H's part. Loved the h's spunkiness, especially the incident with the H's ex! Also loved the teasing b/w them

Soooo much sap. Heroine with abuse in her past, ridiculously perfect hero, both act quite sensibly for the most part so the conflict remains low-key and is primarily internal. Too much of a "good sex cures all ills" vibe sometimes for my taste but the author thinks she's talking about love and who am I to argue?

The love that made itself felt even before they realized it existed in their hearts! I loved this whole book, I have nothing negative to say about it! So sorry Alesha's first husband was such a bully and brute!

This is a great book that highlights a sensitive subject. I loved the H and
h’s interactions no real angst just a getting to know book. A strong h who wasn’t a pushover like some can be. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
