Handsome and collectible, the books are produced to the highest standards. Each volume contains reproductions printed in superb duotone, together with a critical introduction and a full bibliography.

Fascinated by Africa and the writings of Karen Blixen, Peter Beard (b. 1938) was twenty-four years old when he moved to Kenya, where he built up an exceptional body of work. His images of wild animals such as crocodiles and elephants, and of the land in all its purity and its wildness, are a huge collage of his experiences. This book features mainly photos from Africa, together with pages from his photographic journals.

I think this is some of the most interesting art work that completely did not capture my imagination. I'm so intrigued by the artist himself, and the artwork does go to further that fascination, but a lot of these works feel like a puzzle to be worked out. Though the effort put into the life's work is undeniable and is frankly inspiring.
