Love has always been a foreign language when it came to Azmina Mitchell. After ending an engagement and what she thought was her forever, she has poured all her energy and passion into her career. It doesn’t help that her career as an doctor doesn’t give her much room to explore love for the second time. When Azmina gets the job of her dreams, she hesitant to accept. After all, it’s in Atlanta, Georgia. Will Azmina turn in her NYC apple for an Georgia peach?
Raheem Morgan is a new dad. After his fiancée dies during child birth, it leaves Raheem to figure out parenting while mourning the loss of what he thought was his forever. His daughter’s fever lands him in Dr. Azmina Mitchell’s office, and she has him wondering when can he see her again?
Felt like stepping into a love story shaped by loss, timing, and the courage to try again.
Azmina is focused, guarded, and still learning how to carry the weight of what she’s left behind. Raheem is tender, grieving, and stepping into fatherhood while navigating his own broken forever. When their worlds collide, the chemistry is undeniable, but what drew me in most was how their connection unfolded with care, patience, and just enough vulnerability to feel real.
I appreciated how Jahquel J. didn’t romanticize away the heaviness both characters carried. Instead, the story allowed them to build something that felt grounded in love as a healing force, not perfection.
A tender reminder that even after heartbreak, love can find its way back, quietly and unexpectedly.
I most definitely loved this book. It was everything from the beginning to the end. I was so happy that Raheem and Azmina got together they were most definitely meant to be. I loved that Azmina really cared for his daughter Emie and accepted her and loved on her.
I truly enjoyed this book. I am glad Azmina didn't continue to settle and moved on from Joshua. Glad she was able to see that she was not really happy with him ,but it took them breaking up and her moving away for that to happen. Mr.Raheem had it rough by losing the love of his life during childbirth. So glad him and Cynthia had each other to lean on during thay time. She was most definitely a mother to him. I am believe when he said Samira brought Tyson and Azmina to them both. Glad Raheem stop letting grief and doubt hold him back from loving someone. Azmina mom is something else and so glad she finally stood up to her mother. I was really glad that Azmina dad decided to do what makes him happen as well. Jahquel J you definitely didn't come to play with this book.
I’ve just started dipping into this author’s “lover girl” standalones and I have been really enjoying them on the whole. For the most part the ones I’ve read so far have been on the shorter side which has meant that they haven’t been as fully baked as her longer form novels. This is a prime example of that with lots of potential opportunity for conflict that could strengthen Azmina and Raheem’s relationship (e.g. Joshua actually confronting Azmina or Azmina being in trouble ethically for dating a patient’s father, or having her parents’ failing marriage influence her own relationship) that went begging and a lot of time spent on Raheem in particular doubting whether or not to move forward with Azmina when they were already instalovedly locked in. This was a page turner, but I also know what this author is capable of.
Azmina and Joshua broke up, he thought he could do better. Azmina finally stop letting her bougie mama dictate her life and her friends or should I say friend. Dr. Mitchell finally had enough of her too. Raheem was still in love with his dead wife, but he ghosted Azmina because he wasn't ready. He soon that he was going to miss out on a good thing. Amias brought them together. She was gentle with all patients young and old. Evan tried to say she was stealing his patients but when you ignore them they tend to go somewhere else. Ms. Cynthia most helpful. Marie forgot about David, but he kept creeping. Her and Vincent hit off. Money doesn't always make people happy.
This story was so relatable, and I enjoyed it. Azmina moved to Atlanta after a breakup, and Raheem is still dealing with the loss of his wife from a year ago. Once they meet, it is instant chemistry, but Raheem pulls away quite a few times due to his grief. He almost lost his chance with her because of him ghosting her however, everything worked out perfectly. Azmina's mom was trash and stuck up. I loved Azmina's relationship with Raheem's baby girl, Emie. Overall, it's a good story, and I wanted more of these characters.
A cute little love story. I love these characters and their journey to love. With the trauma that Raheem went through losing his wife after the birth of their child really was a lot to handle. One he met Azmina he realized he was ready to move on and start dating. Being a single father made him worry about any woman he brought into their lives. But Mins was just what they both needed and she felt the same way. I definitely enjoyed their story and I loved reading it.
Enjoyed this book. Azmina and Raheem made a cute couple. It took Rah a minute to get himself together. Love a mature couple they made their intentions known about what they wanted out of the relationship. Her mother was doing too much. Love Rah relationship with is mother-in-law.
I really did like this one. I'm a big lover of books with loving families and the loving family relationship Raheem had with his mother-in-law and his daughter really gave me everything that I needed. The romance was perfect and touching as well. I'll definitely read more of this author's books
Good wholesome story. A few grammatical errors but they didn’t take away from the meaning of the story. Raheem was dealt an unfortunate hand of cards. Would love to have had more of him and Azmina as well as Tyson, Cynthia, Marie and Vincent. Azmina’s mom got what she was looking for. Too bad her in laws weren’t in the story more.
This book was short and sweet. Both leads had experienced heartbreaking periods that would make others cautious about attempting love again. But when they met, it was like love at first sight. Sweet! Now, here's the negative...the book left many questions unanswered about all of the other people and just ended. Love the author, liked the book.
I enjoyed this love story. Azmina moved to Atlanta to start new after the breakup with Joshua and found the love of Raheem. I liked Raheem even though he was a little hung up on his late wife. I'm glad he got it together tho. I also liked how Azmina finally stood up to her mother who was snobby and judgmental. 💗💗
I loved this read. It was straight to the point, but it also had a message in it. I believe Samira brought Raheem and Zamina together because she knew what he needed even from heaven. I'm glad Zamina checked her momma and her dad, finally leaving her mom to get him some happiness that he deserves. Great read, Jahquel J
This was so sweet and pleasant. Azmina was living for her mother. Joshua wasn't meant for her. Thank God she moved to Atlanta. Raheem was just living for Emie. Then these two awesome people hook up. I loved how this turned out. Great read Jah!
Loved it. The characters Raheem Azmina seemed to hit it off from the beginning. Yes Raheem was hesitant but rightfully so. They were cute and loved how Azmina said “they” were a package deal (his daughter).
I feel like there was so more potential with this story. Nether Azmina or Raheem we’re ready for an actual relationship. I would’ve loved to see them progress to healing in order them to create their love.
This was another great read about losing and finding a love that never fails. Not only did Raheem find Azmina, but Cynthia found Tyson and possibly love was sparked for Vincent and Marie, just love all over the place!!!
I really liked Azmina & Raheem story. I wish it was longer. I also wanted to see Marie and Vincent outcome more. It was a refreshing break between me reading books with series.
The premise of the book was different but it felt like there were pages missing. The editing on this needs a lot of work. It felt underdeveloped in parts but overdone in other parts. Overall meh
I loved how that they loved each other bruises that they had before even though they didn’t put them there. Raheem and Azmina showed each other it was okay to be safe in someone’s hands besides their own.
Azmina and Raheem’s story is a beautiful testament to fate and resilience. After all they’d endured, the way they found each other feels nothing short of miraculous. Their connection is powerful, healing, and deeply inspiring. Proof that love truly finds a way.
Enjoyed the story of Azmina and Rah dating while life is lifing. Glad that Rah has the support and nurturing of Ms. Cynthia. The main characters are two adults that are able to deal with things rationally and communicate.
