A heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again.
After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.
In book 22 in the series, someone is going around town vandalizing merchants who have received a negative review on the new social media site everyone is talking about. Initially it seems like a mere annoyance, but things begin to escalate, and everyone begins to fear that the trend will lead to a death if someone can't figure out a way to bring the vandals to justice.
Meanwhile, Vaness Blackstone from Firehouse Books is heading out of town and leaves her spunky Aunt Lou in charge. When the bookstore becomes the most recent victim of the Holiday Bay Prankster, Lou joins Abby and Georgia in their quest to track the troublemaker down.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Solita veloce e piacevole lettura.
Another cute cozy mystery with Abby and her gang. I enjoy these fast easy feel good books! The series is great and there are some spinoff series from this too. This one was really good!
Beck, the town of Holiday Bay's investigator got a case that involved a missing parrot...
Actually, that was a small part of the story, but even the small things like that mean a lot in a little town. The people mean a lot, too, and Daley gives each individual character his own special personality that makes the very town have heart. Without even one person, the town wouldn't feel the same (minus the person that always ends up as a murder victim, because that person is usually not a well known and particularly special person. No, I don't feel anyone should be killed, but this is fiction and the entire plot of these stories, so it's ok to say that).
Someone is wreaking havoc in Holiday Bay by not only spewing forth harsh words about local businesses via negative reviews - including Abby and Georgia's inn - but there is also progressively worsening vandalism to those particular businesses. Ultimately a death!
With the local law out of town helping his family troubles, Abby decides do jump in to gather clues to find lot who the culprit is before another business is ruined or a homicide occurs. Will she be able to sort through all the details before it's too late? Ummm, my guess is - probably. Read to find out!
Some highlights: A new character is introduced and I feel she'll be a great fit in town, so hopefully she decides to stay. Colt is trying to get to the heart of the matter of what is going in with his nephew. Georgia and Tanner...hmmm.. Jeremy and Kylie = yay! Colt and Abby - not much new here. Beck and the parrot? Nearly impossible to retrieve a lost/stolen bilingual bird, so I'm not going to say what happened with that investigation, but it didn't turn out like Abby's.
Next book in The Inn at Holiday Bay is “Clue in the Carriage House”; however, that won’t be released until June 6, 2023. I already have it on my calendar to read.
Next read for me is by Sue Hollowell and part of a series I began reading last July and the recently released March 2nd book is called "Cotton Candy and Chaos (Belle Harbor Cozy Mystery #12)".
I've read all of the Inn at Holiday Bay series and I think this one has been my favorite. Interesting topics, like how a bad review can cause problems for a business, especially if it's undeserved. Then there's vandalism, and how helpless and frustrated it leaves the target feeling, especially when it's all done under the guise of "anonymous" so you can’t even guess who wants to smear your name and your business. That's what Abby, Georgia, Velma, and several other business owners are trying to figure out. Who has a grudge against them big enough to make them write these bad reviews about their businesses? And then, to take it even further, to vandalize their businesses in such a way that connects back to the bad reviews. The end result is a lot of lost revenue for the town businesses and the loss of a life for one of them. I really enjoyed this one. It was both entertaining and fun.
When Anonymous one star reviews start showing up for businesses around Holiday Bay, it's maddening to the business owners. When the one starred businesses are vandalized, it's something much worse.
This is the 22nd book in this cozy mystery series by Kathi Daley and I enjoyed visiting Holiday Bay Inn one more time. If you enjoy cozy mysteries and short books that you can read in a couple of hours, this is definitely a series for you. It is entertaining, the location is great, and the main characters are like the people in your neighborhood.
Riddle in the Review is the twenty-second book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming Inn at Holiday Bay series. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, and multiple twists and red herrings in the complex mystery keep the reader engaged. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.
After losing her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, Abby Sullivan bought a huge old house in the charming town of Holiday Bay, Maine, without even seeing it. Once the house was renovated, she opened the Inn at Holiday Bay and found a home and a family. Georgia Carter, who has also overcome obstacles in her life, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager and stars in a cable cooking show once a month. Georgia and her boyfriend, Tanner Peyton, are going through a rough spell, so she and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, moved back into the cottage with Abby, her Maine Coon, Rufus, and her terrier mix, Molly. Jeremy Slater, who lives in the inn’s basement apartment with his young niece, Annabelle, and his girlfriend, Mylie Sanders, is a valuable asset who helps with the inn’s day-to-day operations.
Abby and other local business owners are trying to discover who is posting false one-star reviews for their businesses. When the businesses that received the one-star reviews are vandalized, a group of business owners band together to see if they can determine if one individual is responsible for the reviews and vandalism. Abby’s boyfriend, Police Chief Colt Wilder, is out-of-town visiting his parents, niece, and nephew, who is having some behavioral issues, but returns to Holiday Bay when the body of a local man is found inside a building that was intentionally set on fire.
Someone has been leaving one star reviews for many businesses on a new website. Then things progress when those same businesses begin to be vandalized with each act becoming more intense. Is it the same person? Abby and Colt wonder just where things will lead. Meanwhile, Vanessa has left her bookstore in the hands of her feisty Aunt Lou who gets involved after the store is vandalized. Abby, Georgia, Lou, and a few other women begin their own investigation hoping to nip trouble in the bud.
Kathi Daley is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors as she's a consummate storyteller who will have you living in her stories. I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. It's well-written with well-rounded characters and a well-thought-out plot. Kathi captures small town life very well and I love how she portrays a sense of family and deep friendships. I was drawn into this engaging story and kept hooked from start to finish. The mysteries are intriguing with lots of twists and turns along with several red herrings. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest reading in order to get the most enjoyment and benefit.
Abby’s developing troubling tendencies of not-thinking. So many series protagonists do late in series where they either becoming “the rules don’t apply to me” or “it’s okay if I am pushy and rude hunting down clues but when anyone else does it, it’s just soooo rude” or, as in Abby’s case, “I’m going to disconnect all thought processes and let stupid stuff happen.”
I’ve always kinda liked that this series didn’t do the whole “damsel in distress” where the oh-so-smart heroine is constantly putting herself in jeopardy by taunting or pushing the villain. And while she wasn’t in physical harm, the oh-so-smart Abby did put herself in jeopardy by doing the precise things she said she wasn’t. Hopefully this is a one off behavior.
When a new book in the series comes out, I drop everything and sit down and read it! Kathy Daley has done it again – it's a great story! It's a good mystery and I love all of the spunky ladies and town merchants who dove into solving it! Don't hesitate - get it now!
Amazon synopsis: In book 22 in the series, someone is going around town vandalizing merchants who have received a negative review on the new social media site everyone is talking about. Initially, it seems like a mere annoyance, but things begin to escalate, and Colt fears that the trend will lead to someone's death.

I always look forward to the release dates for Kathi Daley books, The Inn at Holiday Bay is one of my favourite series.
In this book there are a rash of 1 star reviews for businesses around Holiday Bay, when the reviews become real life it gets serious. Colt, the local law enforcement officer is away visiting family so Abby, Georgia and other business owners work to find out who is responsible.
The books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
If you like this book, try one of Kathi Daley's other series, Zoe Donovan , Cottage on Gooseberry Bay, Resort at Castaway Bay, Tess and Tilly, and Rescue Alaska are all favourites of mine.
Abby Sullivan is an author and owner of The Inn at Holiday Bay. She has really taken to the town and the people who live there. When a few owners' businesses are vandalized, is there a connection to the damage and the fact that all the owners also received one star on line reviews from Anonymous? A group of ladies who all own or work in businesses around town get together and decide to find out who is doing this. Then the stakes are upped when there is a murder. Is that connected to the vandalization or someone using it for a cover....
As the series continues with more of the same characters and always a few new people, I was once more mesmerized and back in Holiday Bay in my mind. This book brought some heartbreaking events, along with some joyous occasions, and of course several mysteries leading to a murder which connects the dots behind the evil happening in the lovely Holiday Bay. I love the crossover books that make the stories even better. Grab your kindle and read whatever books you missed or start with this book. Enjoy!
Ms. Daley has written another intriguing mystery set in Holiday Bay. One-star reviews and then vandalism of the same small businesses has Abby and her friends tracking down clues to find the culprit. I enjoy visiting Holiday Bay and was eager to meet the new characters that Ms. Daley has hinted would be introduced in this book. Several twists in this story kept me guessing for most of the book but I did finally sneak past Abby and friends with the correct culprit before the reveal. I'm already looking forward to the next one in the series.
Bad reviews turn into bad news as someone decided to vandalize all the places that got the one-star reviews and to do it in a way that tied into the review's comments. Abby and everyone else bonds together to find out who this anonymous reviewer is and why they are vandalizing the businesses or are they. Eventually while vandalizing one business someone is killed. There are lots of twists and turns before they find the vandal/killer. Great read!
While I have read all the books in this collection and many others by this author, I was often slightly annoyed that the storyline for this particular collection often concluded the mystery with answers that were not included in the plot and were conglomerated in the final chapter as a report of results not otherwise discussed. This story, however, has a much better developed plot and appropriate ending to the mystery. Well played!
Once again we meet up with our friends in Holiday Bay. It seems like family after so many stories! The Bistro and the hotel have been successfully meshed. There are some new players who, I assume, will be reintroduced in the next books. And some players will have new rolls: will Velma rebuild; will Georgia & Tanner work things out? Will Colts niece & nephew come to live with him? As always I am looking forward to the next book.
Just mediocre and very repetitive. When someone thought something, too often it was then repeated as a statement or question. It seemed to me that there were too many people involved, too many storylines, and not much depth. Everyone talked about security and cameras, yet only Velma did anything about it in a timely manner. Abby and Georgia want relationships without ties or complications, yet everyone’s life is complicated. The book felt like a filler until the next one.
Someone is giving 1 star reviews to businesses in Holiday Bay, and then it seems those same businesses are being vandalized. Is it one person doing the reviews and vandalism, or is there more to it? Abby, Georgia, and several other ladies are determined to find out who is damaging their livelihood.
Lou is a real trip, she is hilarious with her ways of dealing with situations. Bad reviews and vandalism lead to several businesses having damage and needing to close for a short time and lose money. The reason why is a mystery at first but with the help from several friends Abby and company figured it out. On to the next book.
I am always thrilled to see what is going to happen in Holiday Bay! This book is no exception, with a complex many sided mystery where the answers just didn’t seem to fit. How are they ever going to get this puzzle together and stop a destructive vandal in time.
I have read all of the books in this series and while this one was alright, it was not my favorite. It was a bit hard to get into and a bit slow going for me. Lots of changes going on in this story. While change is good, the story was a bit of a loose end in my opinion. Uncertainty reigns and r
As in most of Kathi Daley's books there's always a twist amidst the excitement of the mysteries. The characters are wonderful and fun as usual. I love this series and so I'm looking forward to reading the next book. Don't miss this intriguing and interesting story. It also has some romance and special moments.
Love this series by Kathi Daley! Can't wait till the next one! Love the characters and the story plots! When I'm reading I feel like I'm right there with Abby trying to solve the latest mystery. I highly recommend this book and all of the books in this series!!!
Greed, selfishness, and what you're willing to do to get what you want.
I enjoyed the story but not the bad events. Bad things happening to good people. The storyline was smooth and the mystery was figured out but being a small business owner myself this was too close to home for me.
Reviews shouldn't be negative! It's stupid, and not really helpful.
Ok I really don't like the negative review people! I just don't see the point. If you can't find something positive to say don't say anything! Ok the story is about some of the damage that happened from the negative. But also more was happening!
As anonymous comments have began to arrive in emails telling how bad various businesses were, then those businesses began to have problems with something! The last one was a fire with a murdered man in the building! One of our favorite person’s business was torched! Lots of head searching went into solving this issue!
Ms. Daley is a master at cozy mysteries. The characters are interesting and unique. The plot is twisted and sneaky. In the end the mystery is solved and romance blooms. I love this series.
This is the latest book in The Inn at Holiday Bay series. It brought back all the main characters I have come to know so well and even introduced a new one. I love this series and hope there will be more to come in the future.
This is one of the best stories I have read in a long time. However, I think that about all of Kathi's new books I read. I love the new characters introduced. The mystery has a new twist I haven't read before. I highly recomnend this book and series!
