Sold to the King

Rate this book
Growing up as a poor girl in my village, I knew I possessed but one thing of any monetary value.

My innocence.

I had developed early. Men would stop and stare at the generous curves of my tall body. But my father understood that only the King of the Braeyork Dominion was rich enough to pay for the gift I had to offer.

So here I was, ready to be inspected like a broodmare at auction to determine the price the King was willing to offer my widowed father and help our starving family survive the winter starvation.

If I used my advantages with skill, I might avoid becoming another concubine to the King and, with luck, become his Virgin in Waiting, the chance to be his next first-wife.

Or perhaps, he might choose me as his second or third-wife to provide pleasures unbecoming of a first-wife.

But what I didn’t know, standing in public view at the King’s court, was how he would test me before gifting me to one of his two handsome sons.

I write medieval and Victorian erotic romance inspired by my tragically incurable imagination and daydreams I really shouldn’t be having squeezing fruit at the grocery store.

I write steamy scenes wearing whatever makes me feel most wanton — lace-trimmed lingerie, fuzzy pajamas, or my old Denver Broncos jersey (you know the one that's seen way too many touchdowns.)

Sometimes I even manage to finish a chapter before my characters leave me too hot and bothered to type another word.

A superbly written book which together with book 2 thoroughly enjoyed.
The sex scenes are not smutty just down to earth life sexual matters.
Highly recommended reading. .

"Sold to the king: giftd to his sons" is first in a new erotica/romantic fantasy series, "Legends of Braeyork", by debut author Morgan Rush. I confess it was my first reading experience with direct erotica: I'm primarily a reader of fantasy and epic romance and like high voltage of spice in my books. I picked "Sold" in Amazon mainly for the cover art, that is gorgeous and have some Conan and Sonja's vibes for me. But I soon got involved in the story: the heroine, Elva, is sold like a concubine to the king, who soon decides to gifted her to his eldest son and heir to the throne. But the second son, Prince Aiden, is the one who awakes the feelings of the beautiful girl, and the two end up trapped in an instalove. The world of Braeyork is a very primitive and patriarcal society, so, the women are seen as the property of men, who display them like trophies and use them as they please. But Aiden is a different kind of guy, extremely attentive and dedicated to the one he considers the woman of his life. The story is told in two povs, so, we can follow the impressions of hero and heroine in their fight to stay together, facing their society and dark magical forces. Yes, there is a lot of sex, truly scorching, graphic and sometimes kinky, but it is erotica, of course, and the author makes a good work intertwining the hot scenes with the discussion of the couple's feelings and several hints of worldbuilding. My only conplain is the size of the story: it is a novella and I think there was many material for the author writing and make the story even more intense. I learned that the second story will be much longer, which has already excited me, as I intend to follow the series for more scorching romance and, of course, deep worldbuilding. In all, I recommed this book for all fantasy romance readers who are not afraid of very hot scenes, but who appreciate a subtle epic touch that characterizes second world stories so well.

This is a new author and I find it exciting to see how well they know their craft.
The story is interesting and our two main characters well written with strong personalities. I like we get the story from both their points of view.
The world that is built is well written and I'm sure this will continue with the next book due out soon. It will be interesting to read that too.
Yes there is a lot of graphic sex and erotica but it doesn't detract from the story. If you are of a more sensitive disposition then maybe this book is not for you. However the scenes are really hot and you would certainly be missing out.
I was given a copy of this book by voracious readers only for an honest review. I always give an honest review.

Steamy, Sexy and Troubled

This book had unusual customs but very strong characters. It had no limit to the Troublesome things that a person would go through in order to secure their families future. In both main characters, they did what they must or at least what they thought they must. It had a really good ending but it leaves you questioning what happened to the main characters twin brother

*Firstly, while I did receive a free copy, my review is my own and not influenced in any way*
Steamy erotica set in a lush fantasy setting. Morgan Rush has created a wonderfully entertaining read filled with equal measures of erotic thrills and romantic intrigue. I couldn’t put the story down. Highly recommend to all fans of steamy romance and fantasy alike.

So Good!

I really enjoyed Aiden and Elva's story. It was romantic, sensual and exciting. This is the first book that I've read by Morgan Rush and she is impressively creative. I couldn't put this book down ... So Good 💯

Please don’t let my 3 stars scare you away from reading this book. This is a very steamy and enjoyable romance story that only suffers due to how short it is. It’s a novella with a novel’s worth of plot shoehorned inside, and if you’re here for steamy scenes, you’re going to be very happy. If you’re here for the story, you’re going to get a slight case of whiplash.

As a life-long lover of both the fantasy and romance genres, it’s pure magic when the two collide. It’s also pure frustration when both itches aren’t fully scratched. Fantasy without an epic romance? No thanks. Epic romance without fantasy world building? Empty calories.

And, I’d say this is an empty calorie situation. There’s so many interesting plot tidbits that are dropped and left there, never to be picked up again. Why does the king’s first wife look tired? Why do the two princes have such a weird dynamic? Who and what is this serpent curse thing? The writing was compelling AND interesting, and ironically, that’s the entire issue. Give us more! It could be so good!

I’d love to see the author re-develop this novella into a full-length novel, and maybe even a longer book series full of full-length novels. If that day ever comes, I’ll be first in line.

I have to say that there is something about the cover that incites interest in the book.

It is a beautiful story with great plot. I enjoyed the story. There was a good amount of spice and the plot was not lost in the erotica narrative of the book.

I enjoyed how the author has cleverly weaved Aiden and Elva’s story into the erotic nature of the book.

Written from a dual point of view, the book examines how women are treated in the patriarchal society of Braeyork.

This book contains several steamy, smutty and spicy scenes that will leave you feeling hot. There are graphic scenes that will leave your device hot.

I’m not sure it can be classified as fantasy or anything like it. As there was just one fantasy scene, which can make you question the author, but in the earlier part of the book there was a reference to it.

The sequel was so good that I have read it more than once (you have to sign up to the author’s newsletter to receive)

If you like fantasy, romance and erotica then this book is highly recommended.

I received a copy of this book via Voracious Readers and the review is entirely mine.

Okay, so not going to lie – this was a hot little read. I thought the characters were well done with some depth to them and the chemistry between Elva and Aiden was scorching. There was definitely insta-love between the two and while I don’t always enjoy this trope, I thought it worked well this time.

I do wish it were longer – some of the scenes felt rushed and the book could have benefitted with some more consistent pacing. I also wasn’t a huge fan of how often the author used the term ‘f*** dolls’, but still, I enjoyed this erotic read.

Thank you Voracious Readers and Morgan Rush for my copy! I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wanted a quick, easy read so I picked this and the following one in the series at the same time.
The Game of Thrones promise was intriguing but not enough to save the first one. This was an insta-love, insta-lust, insta-everything story where the heroes have sex in various positions with various partners all the time, while using crude terms. I didn't expect deep plot or character development in such a kind of story but this felt lacking hence the 3 stars even though I'm not sure I'd even give that if it wasn't an arc.
Still, this may work for some readers. It just didn't work for me.

I have a passion for reading and authoring erotic stories, and this one caught my attention as a great opportunity to learn more. The story of Elva and Aiden was filled with sexual content until the last sentence. Certain parts were too predictable for my taste, but I won't criticize heavily as I'm not J.K. Rowling. The book's unexpected twist in the latter part earned it a higher star rating. By deviating from the central path, the story became much more interesting.
It was certainly interesting and kept me coming back for more, but perhaps not the best book I've ever read.

I found the story a bit rushed and that some of the back story was missing or didn't make sense to wash over elements. The characters themselves seemed to lack any personality, especially aiden and elva - the stories were supposed to be from their points of view but it still seemed a bit 3rd person, nor did they seem to have any chemistry.

This short, steamy, erotic novella has everything you would need and expect from the genre, so it's definitely worth the read. The story, characters, and the world are interesting, and well developed.
What bothered me the most was repetition and crude descriptions of the sex scenes. However, left me disappointed because it was so short, wandering what happened to the first prince. Still, a lot of potential.

Aiden

Elba was suppose to marry Aiden' s brother. But on TBE night of their wedding the serpent came and want to mate Elva. Aiden fought it and finally beheaded it. His reward was to marry Elva and she agreed, but they had to live as commnaner. And so their begins . Great read and highly recommend r this book.

This was short but definitely not sweet. It had some spicy moments between multiple different partners. And I did appreciate the unexpected twist in this book.

Didn’t finish.

So disappointed. Set out to get some hot action with the girl with the huge norks but there was hardly any.

One brief lesbian scene that didn’t go anywhere and zero chemistry from her when it came to wanting him.

Poorly developed story

No character development, no background (like who / what is this Serpen Queen anyway and what is the crow festival).
Made for a very confusing read - exceedingly disappointing.

Story well told

The story was well told with a good mix of symbols parts and the fictitious story line. I would tell others to read the story.
