Morgan Hudson commanded a lot of respect as Buckhorn's biggest, baddest sheriff. How one petite city woman could turn him on his head was a mystery, not to mention being downright aggravating. But Misty Malone did just that, and Morgan couldn't wait till she went back where she belonged. But then he discovered why she'd come in the first place.

Misty Malone had hoped to take refuge with her sister, who'd just married into a family of sinfully attractive brothers. They all treated her like gold--all but one. Morgan seemed to think she was some sort of femme fatale, out to seduce his brothers. But seduction was the last thing on her mind. Foremost was the baby she was secretly carrying. And then, how to avoid the sexual sparks flying between her and Morgan.

This is my second reread for this book, and once again I have moved it down a star!! Not because I didn't like it; but just because I find with this series it is just a taste of what could be so much more! We are given five hot, sexy guys--who are all related and living together...then their meeting with their "soul mate" and some very hot sex, and marriage! Pretty much a fairytale. These are definitely books you want to read when you are in the mood for some light reading!

I have always loved the Buckhorn Brothers, and I still do...I just have read so many more intense reads in the romance world now that I can't in good conscience rate these all five stars anymore!!!
I still love them though, and I still recommend them for readers who are looking for a feel good read with very low angst!!! I'm now moving on to Gabe; who is the playboy brother!!!

¡Me encantó!

Morgan and Misty. I read this a while ago but recently got the audio books. Morgan is such an ass at the beginning, I wondered if he was redeemable, but Misty's mysterious powers of innocent seduction prove to be his undoing. I liked Misty and how she could give as good as she got with him. The largest of the brothers and the most infamous for brawling (although he is now sheriff) she takes no guff from the growly, grumpy, suspicious MAN. I kinda wished for a wee bit more grovelling from him for his initial prejudices against Misty, but it was still sweet and satisfying. Misty is Honey's sister and comes to visit for the wedding to Morgan's older brother, but she is also hoping to stay for a while. She suffers a mysterious past and needs a place to regroup and decide what to do next. Morgan is taken off guard by his attraction to a woman he considers the antithesis to what he ideally wants as a wife. Because she is now his sister-in-law he decides she is 'hands off', if only his body would agree!

I had high hopes for this book, because I really enjoyed Sawyer's story. I was disappointed and mostly because I couldn't get attached to any of the characters.

Misty is in trouble, she's pregnant and was just in arrested for stealing money. She decides to visit the Buckhorn brothers. Morgan, the sheriff in the family, is immediately a dick.

One of their very first interactions is to call her basically a whore. That doesn't fly with me. But when she finds out she's pregnant, he decides that he wants to take care of her. But ultimately I decided:

I'll be honest and say I skipped the middle of the book. The end did not surprise me. I'll try Gabe's story because he's so much more likeable than Morgan.

Glad to finally be able to read Morgan's story. I've long since finished the rest of the series. This one was really good, classic Foster. I liked both the spunky heroine Misty and the blustering tough guy with a marshmallow heart, Morgan. This is a simple guy falls hard for a girl story.

Couple of comments. Her name was Misty Malone and his was Morgan. He called her Malone. Morgan and Malone were to close together and I had to pay too much attention to keep track of who was talking.

Then, there was one scene that lasted 100 pages from page 37 to 137. That was one day. 100 pages from a 207 page book was a bit much to be spent on one day. I started to obsess about it after a bit. Plus the author did something that annoys me. They had been at a party the night before. Then sometime in the middle of the super long day she says "and he'd already proven that night in the gazebo that all it took..." Okay, 'that night in the gazebo' was last night. The scene had gone on so long that even the author and the heroine had forgotten. She should have said "last night in the gazebo." It's minor I know but it still irks me.

I was looking forward to Morgan's story the most after reading book 1, and it didn't disappoint! Morgan likes to act tough and gruff, but deep down, he's a good man with a heart of gold, and it was fun watching Misty twist him into knots and slowly break down his walls. I'm totally enjoying the Buckhorn brothers, and can't wait to see what happens with Gabe in book 3!

This one was a product of its time…or maybe a product of the decade or two before its time. Morgan holds some pretty misogynistic views about women, especially early in the book. And while he did get better by the end, there was so little going on in this story that it just felt kind of blah. The only thing that really stuck out to me about it was what a sexist jerk Morgan was and that’s not a good thing.

Overall it was just so-so as a book. There was no real plot or final climax to the story. The romance was all there was to it and that just wasn’t interesting enough to keep me invested. Morgan was such a douchenozzle for the first half of the book that I didn’t really like him and Misty was pretty forgettable as the heroine too.

Setting: family home on large acreage, lake on one side, lots of nature, near small town of Buckhorn, Kentucky with about 700 residents, large summer tourist traffic. 4 adult brothers (with 3 fathers, and 1 tremendous mother) plus 16 year old son of one, living together – and perfect specimens of manhood – in looks, in generosity, in consideration, in fun, in support, in values

Theme: love, trouble, life out of control, pregnancy

Characters:
Morgan Hudson – 2nd brother, shared father with Sawyer, their father died serving in military. He was the most hot-headed of them, more easily got into fights… and as an adult, he becomes sheriff – for the control of himself, for the control of others. He likes to do what’s necessary for the outcome he desires.

Misty Malone – Honey’s sister. She comes for the wedding… but her life is out of control – she’s pregnant (broken condom), her boyfriend doesn’t want the baby & she does, so she leaves him – making her homeless, and she is accused of stealing at the video store she works at, takes it to court, is found guilty and forced to repay & is on 6 months probation.
Summary:
Misty runs into Morgan first – and when Morgan is hit with attraction, and she is prickly, he becomes more prickly… and for the next week they avoid one another… and at the wedding, forced to dance together, and both feel the attraction, and both deny the attraction, and he rudely tells her he’ll be glad to see her go… at dawn he comes across her by the lake, they have words again, and she has morning sickness… and he finds out the truth of her circumstances… and when he tries to tell her to stay, she tries to leave – but he gets Gabe and Jordan out of bed, and takes the spark plugs from her car… and … she can’t leave… He lets it out that she’s pregnant, so none of them will let her leave.

And he keeps the theft quiet, and though not sure at first, believes her, and hires a PI to prove the truth… he negotiates with her to have all believe he is her beau (to keep the guys away), and they start to be friends… She stands up to him, he hires her to work at the station… and he shares the house he is building on a different part of the property… and their passion is strong… and Misty has a way with Jordan’s animals, and Jordan hires her on to help him out… and Morgan proves her innocence… freeing her, and he asks her to marry him - when she asks why, he comes up with lots of reasons, but doesn’t say he loves her… so she turns him down… but after talking with Honey, he tells her he’s been telling her he loves her in many ways… ahhh so now she’ll marry him.

It's safe to say this series is not for me. The speed at which these brother's fall in love is unlike anything i have ever seen before. I can't even like the characters because i don't know the characters. No depth or emotional development at all. Just this ultra super lust that goes around entire family and then declarations of love after a couple of weeks. I skipped the middle part of the book and i'm certain i missed nothing worth reading.

This is the second book of this series, and unfortunately I didn't like this one any more then the first one. We have another female lead who I just wanted to slap up the side of the head, and more problems with continuity. Don't have a conversation about a gazebo at your house, and then later tell me that you had it built because of the wedding later. It pulled me out of the story again, and I lost even more of the little enjoyment I was having.
Sorry for the next two brothers stories, but I don't care enough any more to continue.

The second brother bites the dust. I loved Morgan in the first book. He was so big and tough, putting on the big, bad sheriff attitude, but Honey wasn't intimidated. In this book, Honey's sister Misty comes to help out for the wedding and ends up staying awhile. The first person she met was Morgan, and the sparks flew right away - at least until he discovered she was Honey's sister.

Misty is ready for a chance to rest and recoup. She's had a rough couple months. She got pregnant, then her fiance dumped her because he doesn't want kids, Then her employer accused her of stealing from the business and she ended up convicted and jobless. She's trying to keep up a cheerful front and Morgan is convinced she has her eye on his brothers. But she's sworn off men, they're too much trouble for her to deal with right now. She's attracted to Morgan, but since he doesn't seem to like her, resisting shouldn't be too hard. But once he finds out her secrets, his protective instincts kick in and she finds herself the focus of his efforts. She discovers that the scowling face hides a pretty soft heart, and her own is soon in danger of falling for him.

Morgan first earned his badass title as a hotheaded teenager. But that attitude has since stood him in good stead as a sheriff that few people will argue with. He's learned a lot about self control in those years. Meeting Misty has turned that self control into nothing. He's really attracted to her, but she's Honey's sister and for him that makes her off limits. Staying away from her is the safest thing for him to do, but that isn't easy when she's living in the same house. And the way she seems to flirt with his brothers is making him crazy, so he tries to encourage her to leave as soon as she can. Then he finds out about the trouble she's in and wants to take care of her.

I loved the interactions between Morgan and Misty. Just like Honey, Misty isn't at all intimidated by him. I loved seeing her stand up to him when he starts overdoing the controlling thing. There's a terrific scene at the sheriff's office when he gets angry and she blasts him right back. She also feels special with the way he treats her, and she starts to fall for him. Morgan is used to being able to control his emotions and reactions, but something about Misty has him unable to do so. She also has him smiling and laughing more than he as in years and he starts to realize just how much he needs her in his life. They also have incredible chemistry between them, which just adds to the connection. Getting to that final step gives Morgan some problems, especially when he neglects to use the words that would get him what he wants. I loved the scene in town when he finally got it right.

The interactions among all the brothers are still a lot of fun. Sawyer is a bit smug these days, now that he has Honey in his life, and it was amusing to see him giving advice to Morgan. Gabe and Jordan had several episodes of jerking Morgan's chain as they flirted with and teased Misty. Even Casey got into the act as he "didn't see anything". I loved the way they were there for each other too, such as finding ways to delay Misty's leaving early on, and also as they came together to care for the puppy Morgan found.

I started off really liking this story. Morgan was sexier, edgier, rougher around the edges and seemed like an animal trying to contain his urges. His attraction for Honey’s sister was instant! And Misty responded to that. I liked that she was flirty and fun with everyone else but with him, she was fighting the attraction and ended up being bitchy. Of course, with all that sexual tension that made for some explosive encounters whenever they let go and got near each other.

I enjoyed Misty as a heroine a lot more than Honey, but I can’t say she didn’t have her stupid moments. Especially at the end. And the other thing that I wasn’t completely sold on was the repeat history that now Morgan is going to go through the same thing Sawyer did with his ex wife, in regards to his kid.

Overall, though, this book was very sexy, with sizzling chemistry and a whole lot of alpha males.

It was an okay read. Morgan was a bit overbearing and dominating for my tastes and Misty's woe is me indecisive attitude was a bit grating. It just seemed as if the two characters didn't fit well at all. The story felt forced in many places.

I honestly could have smacked Morgan's face off when he didn't see it as a problem that he hadn't told Misty he loved her when he asked her to marry him. Self-absorbed brute.

This wasn't my favorite story. I actually enjoyed Sawyer more.

Book #2 and Morgan, the sheriff, meets Misty, Honey's sister (book 1). Misty was just too immature for This Reader. Her failure to take control of her life was annoying. She was pregnant, unemployed and trying to "decide" what and where to go/do.
UGH!

I didn't like Morgan's character. He just wasn't that likeable and even when he developed, he lacked...

The series review will be on my blog, but Morgan's story was a fiery one. With all his temper and brooding, it was nice to see him fall hard. I equally like that he falls for Honey's sister, Misty. I really didn't care for her already being pregnant, but it does fit the family with the connection to Casey and Sawyer's relationship. It was a nice read and good story with the brothers.

I had so hoped that Honey's sister, Misty would be the heroine for one of the other brothers and Yeah! It's Morgan.

Lot's of interesting twists and turns in this one! Don't want to post spoilers, but, wow!

Seeing control freak Morgan so out of control over one little female is hilarious! I love to watch a big man fall!

Not sure why, but I liked the first book better. Morgan spent the first half of the book annoying me and the heroine, then we got to see how sweet he really was. It was still an nice book and I like the family. I will keep reading this series because I am curious how the other brothers fall!

this was a fun read (and another wee short one 160 pages) i liked Morgan a lot. He was sexy, confident, bossy, pushy and controlling, and under all of that he is a softy, loving, warm and caring. did i say sexy? yum! Misty was strong enough to stand up to him and not get pushed around (not too much anyway). I am looking forward to the next book!

this was cute. it is predictable but the brothers are all so likeable that you can't help but fall in love with them.

is this book gonna win any awards for originality or greatness? absolutely not. but it was still a cute fun read that I got from the library and enjoyed. I am officially hooked... gonna read the whole series.

the story was just ok. I didn't hate it or love it. The brothers are all a bit too perfect. Misty took feisty and hard headed to a new level. I loved that Morgan stepped up and "took responsibility" for Morgan and her baby. I would have loved if the baby was actually there or if morgan was a bit more pregnant. but for what it was it was entertaining.

story - 2.5
narrator - 3

Read in the box set BUCKHORN BEGINNINGS through my library for some fun old-fashioned reading.
Morgan and Misty, gasoline and matches.
Morgan acts like a twit at the start due to fighting his attraction to Misty.
He then does a complete 180 in his attitude once Misty’s surprise is found out but is still behaving in a very mean manner towards Misty.
She really doesn’t need another man using her for his own reasons.
Saying that, Misty is well able to stand up for herself, even against bulldozer Morgan. She is a strong person.
Then we get to see a side of Morgan the sheriff that just makes you like him. He really is a caregiver.
Have read these a very long time ago but don’t really remember them.

Reread this authors Winston Brothers and Visitation series. Grabbed these through my library for some light reading.
Quite entertaining to read books this old and the sexually biased slant to them.
How stories have changed in 20 years. I quite like the old-fashioned manners of the men but they are a bit dominating and overbearing, in a nice way.

I find it interesting that these men are all women magnets, basically big players but no other women show up or make a fuss.
Found it interesting that none of these brothers have ever gotten a woman pregnant by accident either but poor Misty book 2 and Georgia book 3, had both been pregnant due to broken condoms.
Seems these men are super lucky.

I have read the first seven books in one hit so will not be reading the others for a while as they seem similarly themed.
