Carol Usher graduated with a degree in Agricultural Botany from Leeds University. She undertook a research position in the botany school at Oxford University and then at Nottingham before teaching science and horticulture. She is now a science editor and writer based in Wales.
John White is a well-known author, illustrator, and broadcaster on trees and their cultivation. His recent publications include Trees of Britain and Northern Europe (author), and The Hedge Tree Handbook (illustrator). He has been a member of the Tree Council and the Arboricultural Association Council in the UK.
Colin Ridsdale studied botany at Bristol University. After working as a forest botanist in Papua New Guinea and completing his PhD, he moved on to research at the National Herbarium Netherlands. He has worked and collected in most countries in Southeast Asia.
