He has been a member of the Tree Council and the Arboricultural Association Council in the UK.
Colin Ridsdale studied botany at Bristol University. After working as a forest botanist in Papua New Guinea and completing his PhD, he moved on to research at the National Herbarium Netherlands. He has worked and collected in most countries in Southeast Asia.
