Invisible Creatures

Rate this book
The theme of this collection is the mysterious double-life that humanity leads. We all inhabit two the outer, manifest and visible world, and the inner, hidden, invisible world. As Sir Thomas Browne observed back in the 17th century, ‘This visible world is but a picture of the invisible.’ Indeed, one might even say that the state of our outer world (our relationships, our war or peace, the strength of our kinship with Nature, the beauty or ugliness of the environment we create, the condition of our well-being) is simply a reflection of our inner state. The world of Nature has always been a deep love of this poet, but while the poems express delight in the landscape of places, with their flora and fauna, they also acknowledge the invisible world of which Nature is the outward sign.Through close observations and descriptions of the natural world, the poems also delve below the surface to explore and question the inner meaning of our lives.
