One powerful witch. One warlock in training. One failed relationship between them. An old enemy knocking at the door. What could possibly go wrong?
Autumn Thorne believed she discovered the perfect love. Yet the moment she revealed she was a witch, her relationship went to hell in a handbasket. Nearly a decade later, in an ironic twist of fate, the man who shunned her shows up on her doorstep and asks for her help to develop his own latent powers.
For the better part of nine years, Keaton Carlyle has tried to forget the one woman whose very touch made him burn with uncontrollable desire. Now, left with no choice, he must seek her out to master the magic building within. But the more time Keaton spends with Autumn, the more he realizes his old feelings for her have never truly been extinguished and the flames blaze hotter than ever.
When Autumn sets off on a mission to uncover an ancient artifact crucial to saving her mother, Keaton is hot on her heels, determined to make up for the wrongs of the past and rescue Autumn from the clutches of the madman holding her hostage. Faced with life or death, they must learn to work together. But can Autumn ever again trust the man who so cruelly betrayed her?

Autumn Magic by T M Cromer Book 2 of the Throne Witches series. Paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. Autumn and Keaton were once lovers until she told him she was a witch. Goodby Keaton. Now ten years later he has powers of his own and goes to Autumn for help. Together they fight a killer and work to settle their past issues.
Lots of emotional up and downs in this book. Loved little girl Chloe. The complexity of the sisters and family and friends had me confused at times but it’s clear who the upcoming books will be.
I spent the first half of this book reading through misty eyes. As anticipated, more character development in this book than the last, and the story line keeps moving along! Can’t wait for the next one.
Another page turning-can’t stop reading installment of the Thorne Sisters. This time it’s Autumn and Keaton’s story. Laughs, tears and a whole lotta romance kept me up late into the night. Can’t wait for Winter!
Once again, I'm just hiding the review because I want to talk about what I want to talk about and not worry about spoiler tags. You've been warned.
2.5, rounding up to 3 stars.
I went ahead and decided to give the series another chance because I was interested enough in the plot to see if the author could redeem herself. This was better than the first book, but honestly, that's simply by virtue of simply being a cohesive story, so that bar was crazy-low. This was better, but I'm not sure it was good.
Autumn and Keaton were, I guess, New Adult sweethearts. She loved him, he loved her, then she decided to tell him she was a witch, and suddenly he decided he'd been under a spell the whole time. I can actually understand that, to some extent. You've gone your whole life never feeling anything as intense as this first love, then suddenly you're obsessed for the first time with another person. Upon the Big Reveal that magic exists and your partner is a practitioner, it's gotta occur to you to wonder if something was up and I can understand that his trust was shaken.
What I couldn't understand was Keaton's actual reaction. Not only does he leap whole-body-and-soul into that assumption, he completely breaks off his relationship, then threatens to "out" her and her family to the whole town, placing all of them in danger, then goes home and bonks her best friend, Diane, promptly impregnating her with the snot-nosed brat we met in the first story (said snot-nosed brat has had a between-book personality transplant and is now in plot-moppet territory). Only wait, what's that? Autumn was pregnant too, when he dumped her, only she miscarried and in doing so, her ability to have additional children was also lost, amping up the angst factor.
The stone mentioned in the first book (don't make me try to spell the name -- this was an audio book and there is no way I'm trying to phonetically figure out the name of that stone) was at play and Autumn and Keaton have to travel to find it. This is the stone that only a couple in love should try to go after. I'm going to be honest, I totally tuned out a huge chunk of this rather boring part of the story. They're captured and in one of my least-favorite romance tropes, their fear of losing each other suddenly outweighs Autumn's very real hesitancy in getting back together with him. I mean, we just saw this guy bear a ten-year grudge against her for something he'd just decided in his head without giving his partner any way to reason with him -- and he hated her that whole time because of an assumption. The only reason his mind was changed was that he found out he was magical too and suddenly realized she'd been telling the truth. If he'd been a mortal (which would have made a lot more sense, but I'm learning this author likes to throw the whole kitchen sink at her plots), I guess he'd have gone his whole life despising her without trying to learn the truth.
Then there's the (I dunno if it's actually a subplot, but I'll go with it...) subplot with Chloe being abused by Diane. She's not just the evil ex-best friend, and the evil ex-wife, she's the evil mom. That just gets dropped out of nowhere thanks to Uncle Alistair and his mind control (they're going to mind control Diane for the rest of her life so she won't hit her kid or something? And how is that not going to make Keaton lose his mind? Because that's awfully close to what he accused Autumn of that isn't supposed to be possible) and we find out at the end of the book that Chloe is the soul of the baby Autumn lost. So technically even though another woman gave birth to her, she's Autumn and Keaton's daughter. Oh and did I mention after a death (not near-death, but death) experience for Autumn, suddenly she can have babies again? Ugh. So, so flipping cheesy. I get that this is a series about magic, but I wouldn't mind some realism, ya know?
But again, this was better than the (extremely low, low, looooow bar set by) the first one. I liked Autumn, even though I felt like the author only knew what kind of character she was maybe 75% of the time (which is better than the 20% that it felt like for Summer). As a result I'll probably check out Winter's book (even though the author didn't really even bother to tease that one until the last chapter).
The audio reader (Abby Craydon, I believe) does a good job with these. No complaints.

“Autumn Magic” is the second book in the Thorne Witches series. When I read the first book I had problems with the convoluted plot but the author managed to pull it off in the end. Unfortunately, this second book was just as convoluted and the plot felt formulaic.
Autumn and Keaton were high school sweethearts but that all ended when she told him she is a witch. Then he went and did the unthinkable and slept with her best friend. Keaton didn’t realize Autumn was carrying a secret that dimmed the happiness out of her and when she reveals it he will finally understand just what he put her through.
Keaton also discovers that he and his family are warlocks. This is where the plot becomes convoluted. Then the formulaic format begins.......beg for forgiveness, break the trust, beg for forgiveness, break the trust, a major problem and then back together again promising never to break the trust again. Ugh just ugh!
Well, this was the final straw for me. I will not be going on to the other books in this series. I can’t read more of the same just with different characters. Read it for yourself and decide.
T.M. Cromer does it again! Autumn Magic will cast a spell on readers. Ms. Cromer has given us another book loaded with phenomenal characters. I totally love the characters in this series! Autumn and Keaton were in love, right up until Autumn told Keaton her secret. And she casts a spell. Keaton and Autumn's story is full of suspense, humor, drama, sizzle, action and magic. I loved reading Autumn Magic and can't wait for the next book in this fantastic series. Autumn Magic is book 2 of The Thorne Witches and can be read as a standalone...but really, why would anyone want to miss out on the fun of book 1? This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Autumn Thorne loved Keaton, even after he dumped her, even after she bound him to silence, he still loved her, but they also loved to hate one another... and then there's that pesky stone.
I willfully chased after this story as a guilty pleasure and I regret wasting my no rush shipping credits on this. I'm breaking up with this series.
Here's what I didn't like: This is quite plainly derivative of Summer Magic. They have the same reactions, same way of saying things, that it may as well have been Summer. What I mean to say is that Autumn did not have a unique voice. Keaton didn't have a unique voice either. The steamy scenes were the same, they hot and cold was the same, the off and on again, the same. Chloe's plot was contrived. dialogue wasn't tagged properly, especially if there were more than two actors on the page. awkward dialogue tags. too many explaining tags that were repetitive to what the person had just said. The quality of the book wasn't the same, like the book wasn't as polished as book 1.
Here's what I liked: the otter.
Overall, to say that I'm disappointed is an understatement. I should not have chased after this story.
Better then the 1st book but still seriously lacking well thought plot. Has serious holes and about faces that makes zero since.
Also what’s with the random chapter that is a paragraph long, of the author telling me to go to social media and say how great the book is?? Seriously? Hopefully that trend doesn’t continue into the next books either.
We get the setup and backstory for Autumn and Keaton in book 1, Summer Magic. I was glad that we dove right into the romance and overall I very much enjoyed how it played out in Autumn Magic. It was still a bit hot and cold, but I’m beginning to think the narrator may contribute to the angry moments seeming so strong and abrupt.
I missed all the other characters being on the page all the time, but we do get to see them and get further hints of what is in store couple-wise.
We also got a few other answers to questions I know we all had as our heads were spinning from all the twists in book 1.
I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this second book of The Thorne Witches. After reading the first one i just knew i would. The only problem was........i was supposed to read another book before i read this! As soon as i finished the first book i downloaded the second, decided to have a sneaky peak, then landed up reading it all!!
All the characters are a little more detailed and are starting to come to life. The story-line is developing well and makes you wonder where it is going to take you.
This is Autumn and Keatons story. You learn their back history in full and then the story-line continues into the present. The story is fast paced and once again, surprising. You get comfy reading then all of a sudden the story thwaps you in the face with a surprise.
This book has its serious and sad moments and it actually gets quite emotional in parts, but..... i can't remember the last time i laughed out loud so much. The humour and interaction between the characters is smooth and believable.
Once again i am left wanting to read the next book. I can put my hand on heart and say if you like a well written fantasy about witches, warlocks, witch-hunters, adventure and much much more, this series is going to be just for you.
The story is a stand-alone but to immerse yourself in the fun and adventure start with the first book.
This series is turning out to be quite addictive so before i download the next book in the series i really must read my book-club book first!!
This one fell short compared to Summer Magic in my opinion. The love/hate relationship didn't last long enough based on Keaton and Summer's past. Keaton pretty much did a 180. He went from hating her to being a sappy mush and it was just all too rushed and he didn't stay true to character. I'm looking forward to Spring and Knox.
Spectacular book! Amazing character building and it had the feels! I absolutely loved this story. Autumn and Keaton so far are my favorite. But, it's early in the series. I cannot wait to see what this author has coming next!
Autumn and Keaton were madly in love in high school and talked of marriage so much so that Autumn felt that she need to tell Keaton she was a witch and showed him some of her powers. He did not take it well and she had to cast a spell so he couldn’t tell anyone else. They spent 9 years avoiding each other and Keaton being furious with her. They reconnect when he learns he is a warlock but his powers were blocked. Ironically, he needs Autumn to help him learn what to do. He broke her heart and Thorn witches only get one true love so she is having a hard time being around him. This story has the two of them reconnecting and learning to trust again. There are a couple of twists and turns I didn’t see coming and the ending was interesting.
warning grab a full box of tissues Autumn a strong women who had embraced life and her powers until he broken her heart when she had opened it up fully to him. Martin had love her with everything he had until she told him her secret and scarred the he'll out of him....... Then his world then to life hell. His daughter was the only thing that kept him going. Betrayal in the worst way, fueled emotions of pain, misery, loss, hopelessness, angry, devastation, regret, abuse, and pure guy wrenching heartbreak. T M Cromer brings you fantastic characters, amazing story. So we'll written and full of emotions. Each page leaves you craving more. Turn wanting to know but afraid to find out. I truly can not wait to read the next one........ The painful wait starts now
Loved Autumn and Keaton. Autumn has promised to train Keaton and his daughter in magic. Keaton is trying his best to make up for his behaviour 10 years previous. He’s hoping he can charm Autumn into forgiving him. Having to team up with Keaton to go and look for a list stone doesn’t please Autumn at all. Read this amazing addition to the series and see if Autumn and Keaton can rekindle a list love.
Damn this one made me teary. I’d say autumn’s grudge was well deserved. Summer’s humiliation was petty compared to these two. I liked Autumn and Chloe’s interactions. Didn’t like Lin. That guy has problems. Hope he suffers at the end.
Another gorgeous cover! I liked Autumn and Keaton's tension and connection. The men in these books tend to have giant mood swings, in my opinion, but Autumn was more than up to the task of keeping them in line. If you enjoy second chance romances, family stories, witches, and romance then you'll like this series!
I am enjoying this series. The last book ended with a bit of a cliffhanger which made me want to start this book immediately.
Autumn and Keaton dated years ago. After the events of the first book, the Thornes and the Carlyles are thrown together. There were times in this book that Keaton bothered me. There was hurt and anger on both sides, but Keaton seemed to think that his was more justified at times.
This is definitely a series that you need to read in order.
Autumn Magic picks up where book one ends. Main characters Autumn and Keaton were in love when they were younger, but Keaton destroyed that relationship when he found out Autumn was a witch. Fast forward, Keaton and his family are now practicing warlocks. He and Autumn set off to retrieve a relic the Thornes need to revive their mother. Keaton is more than ready to restart their relationship, but Autumn is understandably wary of doing that. The relationship progresses slowly with a lot of ups and downs.
The story features most of the characters from book one. I especially enjoyed the interactions between Autumn and Keaton’s daughter Chloe. The author does a nice job of setting up the couple and storyline for book three. I listened to the audio version of this book and the narrator did an excellent job with all of the voices – tough to do with so many featured characters. This is a great series. I look forward to reading the continuing saga of the Thorne family.
Wow! I'm completely flabbergasted by the complexity of this storyline. The depth of the plot and creativity shown in planning such an intricate tale astounds me. I took this to be an explanation of Autumn and Keaton's woeful story as star-crossed lovers that were doomed to bad timing and unfortunate situations. It was a total surprise to learn about the ancestors of the Thorne family and to come face to face with one of those deadly enemies from the past. This thrilling read will have you holding on tight and gritting your teeth as the Thorne/Carlyle witches struggle to save their own as more surprises continue to complicate all of their lives. This story continues to get better and better. FIVE BIG FAT STARS ON THIS ONE!!!!!
Dang I didn't think I would like these series since it was Paranormal but I'm hooked now. There is not one book I have not enjoyed by this author. Now to Autumn, boy she reeling me in. She was so stubborn and head strong but she hid a lot away from others. Keaton he sure had me wanting to smack him in the back of the head and knock some sense into him but he made up for it at the end. Anyone who reads this will be in the emotions with these characters.
