Jesse James

Rate this book
Jesse James may be the most famous outlaw from the wild days of the Old West. He began his career during the Civil War, as part of a group of Southern-supporting guerrilla fighters in his native Missouri. After the war, James turned his hand to crime, becoming one of the leaders of the famous James-Younger Gang, along with his brother Frank and another set of brothers, the Youngers. These bandits became notorious for their bold robberies of banks, stagecoaches, and railroads around Missouri, but James was never taken prisoner, despite years of manhunts for him. James's legendary career ended when he was betrayed and murdered by Robert Ford, a member of his gang. As proved in Jesse James, his daring exploits are still fascinating more than a century after his death.

"Discover the story of the most famous outlaw of the old west!" Jesse James, by Adam Woog is one of the Wild West For Kids books. This informational texts tells the life of the famous outlaw Jesse James. In 110 pages, Woog tells of his early life, life of crime and adventure, and his unfortunate death. And even the events after his death. I have always been interested in this time in history and this historical figure, and this book was a quick easy read that filled me with tons of information. I even learned some facts about James that I had not known before.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone ages 10 and up. Especially anyone interested in American history, this is a great read and is a different view of history than what we always learn about. Great book about an exciting, daring individual in our history.
