An erotic love story. Jason saves a stranger from certain death, and is rewarded with a gift that grants him an incredible ability. Can he use this power to get the girl of his dreams, or does fate have something else in store?
Not sure how to rate this one, while some of the scenes where sexy I guess I am just not comfortable with an erotic book where the characters in high school. They were adults (18) but still...
Got this one for free on B&N but yeah the whole thing was just weird for me.
To be fair, I downloaded this off Amazon without reading the description or even checking out the reviews. While purchasing a paranormal novel, this popped up under "People who purchased ____(whatever it was I was buying at the time)___ also purchased: Amulet." I assumed, incorrectly, that it was another paranormal story.
It's not. It's really, really not.
Okay, sure, maybe in the sense that there's a supernatural object that renders the wearer invisible. In this case, a high school aged boy named Jason. And like most high school aged boys would do if given a magical object that makes them invisible, he used in to spy on people. Having sex. All kinds of sex. The girl next door, the couple up the street, some girls in the locker room at school, his best friend & the local cop, his crush.
At no point does Jason stop and think, "Hey. You know. This is kinda creepy of me. Just skulking around. Naked. Watching friends and neighbors having sex." I mean, I thought it was creepy. I also found myself thinking, "Good God, I hope these kids are 18. Otherwise, I'm one iced tea away from having a sit down with Chris Hansen."
Okay. I probably sound like a prude right now. Like I'm clutching my handkerchief to my chest, coming over all, "Dear Me!" but let me finish: part of my reaction was my fault. I went into this blind, thinking it was something it wasn't and after I went back, halfway through the book, and checked the reviews and realized "Oh. Hey. Okay. I'm reading a cut and dry erotic novel. Alright. Let's do this." I went back and attempted to finish it from that viewpoint, rather than wondering when the plot was going to show up.
And even from an erotic standpoint, this isn't...it's not good. It reads like a high school boy's wet dream. Which, I guess, is exactly what it is.
This was a very cool story. I read it in a matter of hours because it was hard to put down. However I need to clear one thing up before anyone starts thinking I'm a pervy old lady. Once I got to the first erotic scene I almost put it down. The whole book was very erotic, but that is not what bothered me. It was the fact that the main character was an 18 year old boy and most of the supporting characters went to high school with him. I've read and enjoyed plenty of Y/A novels, but those ones weren't erotic. Those ones were about sweet, innocent love. This one was too, in a sense, but it took some time to adjust to the age of the characters given the sexual aspect. At some point I became so engrossed in the unique plot line, it didn't matter anymore.
It's about a boy who saves an old man and as a thank you the man gives him a necklace with a strange amulet attached. Soon the boy finds out that when he wears the necklace he becomes invisible. Well, you can imagine what a teen boy would do with the power of invisibility...... Yep. That's exactly what he does. But as he's playing voyeur all over town, he begins to see people he has known all his life in a new light. He starts to realize that he might not want what he'd always thought he wanted.
The author heralded this book as "an erotic love story". I would say that is an apt description, but it takes longer than a traditional romance to see the love story unfold. The main character was very likable. He made some mistakes and hurt some people, but he pulled through and made his wrongs right. His confusion about girls and relationships was realistic for his age (or maybe just his gender, lol.)
Regardless of the erotic nature of the story it was just a fun and unique book. If it sounds like something you'd like to read, and if you have a Kindle, snatch it up now while it's FREE.
Warning: Contains graphic sex and language, and the threat of violence without consent.
Eighteen year old Jason Ramsey is a geek. He's cute but invisible, especially to the girl he's been crushing on for years – beautiful, popular, cheerleader Becky Johnson. Then one day he saves an old man from nearly getting run over by a truck. The strange old man is an oddball and decides that Jason should be rewarded for his act of courage and gives him an amulet but warns him to only try it on when he's alone in his room. Jason does just that and makes a startling discovery. The amulet renders him invisible (I could already see where this was going). Once he figures out how it works, his first victim test is his neighbor, Samantha.
Jason uses the amulet to spy on people. He discovers his feelings towards Sam have changed since childhood, and he deeply regrets the way he used to treat her. He spies on the girls in the locker room where he witnesses lesbian sex for the first time. He witnesses his best friend Danny getting serviced by an older woman, then he pays his neighbors, a young married couple who are rumored to go at it like rabbits, a visit. There he learns the difference between crude f*cking and making love.
When Becky calls him out of the blue and wants to go out with him, he jumps at the chance – all thoughts about Sam are forgotten, until Sam bumps into them on their date. Becky divulges a secret that threatens his friendship with Danny, and Sam is about to go out on a rebound date. Then Jason has a strange dream about a woman who wears an amulet like his. This woman tells him that he's good, he's a protector and that his second test is almost upon him. Lies and deceit cloud his judgement until the truth comes out, but it may be too late to save Sam and declare his love for her.
This was a really odd story. The story starts out light with the sexual awakening of a young man, until he realizes the person he really wants to be with has been right in front of him all the time, then turns dark when Sam's life is in danger.
Jason is the geek. No one really pays him any attention except Danny, the high school jock and man whore. Danny has had Jason's back for years. Despite Danny's penchant for pu ... screwing every girl, he has always stuck to the "bro code" – not to screw the girl his best buddy is in lust over – Becky. Danny comes across as a jerk, but does a 360 towards the end of the story. Donna has been in love with Danny ever since he grabbed her for a quickie during prom while his date was occupied. Underneath her tough exterior lurks a softie, and she turns out to be a true friend. Samantha is sweet and innocent, but I found myself feeling sorry for her throughout the story.
The idea of a teenage boy with the ability to become invisible sounded like the cliche boy fantasy, and I found it odd that a guy would even consider wearing an amulet. Yes, the characters are all young, but what that didn't bother me. Real life isn't much different. I was most disturbed by Becky's scene, but only because I already hated her by then. Becky's reasons for her deceit were ridiculous and she should have paid some price for it in the end. The author did write Jason and Sam's ending beautifully though, and it was a stark contrast to all the previous scenes which was nice.
2.5 stars for a) grossly misused amulet for purely selfish reasons (spying on intimate moments, helping Danny's future career), only to be covered up by making Jason a hero in the end and b) a lack of consequences for some characters. I see there is a sequel - I don't think I can handle the angst, so I won't be in any hurry to read them anytime soon.
I'm not going to star this book because I have really mixed feelings on it and I frankly don't know how to rate it. I thought the pace of the story was good, and the initial concept was cute, and the erotic scenes were exactly as expected for the genre; I never got over the narrator being a creep. I'm sure this book assumes you'll forgive them for doing things they clearly think typical for teen-age boys, but gross. Seriously. If you can get past that then the erotic part of this erotic novel may actually seem like that to you. If you can't it will seem like a really long slog through Stalker Town.
I mean. This is exactly what I get for fishing for free books on Kindle without reading (because these things are fundamental you know). Once I realized it was straight up in the genre of erotica (10% into it), I made the decision to continue to see if there was any plot or if it would go anywhere or redeem itself. No such luck. 1 Star for the creep factor of a kid who gains invisibility and uses it to do exactly what a gawky, awkward and horny teenage boy would do, invade other people’s personal space. I’m always happy to finish a book, but none with such shame and disappointment as this one.
Was OK but I thought the ending was a bit ... something. I don't want to give anything away but let's say the morality in evidence at the very end is beyond questionable, especially when the person carrying it out has been labeled a "good man." Beyond problematic. Otherwise was pretty decent.
This was a lot of fun. Lots of sexy times, but some poignant observations on the nature of love as well. And I really like the cover. It's got a retro feel to it and the amulet itself is just gorgeous.
The book was really bad. It was like being in a porno movie. I hated it. You can tell just by reading the book that this book was written by a male author. NO OFFENCE TO MEN. I am not the type of person to read the description on the back of the book which was my biggest mistake.
I like to say something to guys/men who wonder upon reading this book.
1. Girls never wonder AROUND NAKED in a girls locker room. I've been to several girls locker rooms- Why???? BECAUSE I'm a girl. And when I was younger, I used to move allot and of all the HIGH SCHOOL LOCKER ROOMS I've been to, we don't talk, run, play, sit on benches NAKED. Maybe that's what MEN WISH that we'd do, "but sadly SORRY TO BURST UR BUBBLE BOYS," WE DON'T DO THAT.
It doesn't matter if there's a fire in the locker room. Or there's a serial killer girls/women NEVER WONDER AROUND NAKED IN A LOCKER ROOM. EVEN IF THEY HAVE TO RUN FOR THERE LIVES. MEN WE PUT ON OUR CLOTHES FIRST. So now that I made myself clear, boys it just looks BAD OR PRETTY MUCH DUMB TO write a book that has a bunch of women sitting around talking about boys naked its just plain STUPID. THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN!!!! Maybe that's what MEN DO WONDER AROUND TOUCHING THEMSELVES AND SITTING ON THE BENCHES TO TALK ABOUT SEX ALL DAY LONG.
THAT'S WHAT MEN DO, SO DON'T EXPECT US GIRLS TO DO THE SAME.
2. Women do not say fuck when there describing "sex". That's offensive to us girls. The words that women and girls use when there talking about sex is: sex, inter course, get some, and if you want to be romantice women say "making love". WE don't use the word FU** to describe SEX. At least I don't nor any OF MY FEMALE FAMILY AND FRIENDS that I know of. It just doesn't happen.
3. High school girls don't have SEX with each other in the girls locker room. At many times the girls locker room are filled with girls coming in and out of the locker rooms;that you only have a little time to get dressed and leave before other girls come in. The female coach also make frequent visits to the locker rooms, pretty much to keep the peace and to make sure everyone is out of the locker rooms on time. So ur more than likely to get caught if girls are fingering each other and licking each others juices right in the center of the locker room, sitting on the benches. That Idea was dumb. So its more likely not to happen. THAT'S RETARDED.
4. This author USED THE WORD " PUSSY" in several of the sex scenes, Sorry again guys, women tend to find that offensive to describe the female anatomy that way. Really? Is that necessary? I mean I was shocked, I could not believe it.
5. Another thing, if you have a magical "amulet" you'll do something much more than visit naked women and couples having sex. Yes, I get it, he's a teen boy who thinks about sex 24/7; but there has to be other things he's interested in. I know that Jason is a teen boy and is interested in girls, but if you had an amulet that has the ability to make you invisible what would you do???? I'm sure that the boy Jason isn't dumb enough to look at naked women all day long. Or is he???
If I had that amulet I'd go rob a bank. Or Visit my "archnemesis".
Hunt ur archnemesis. You know scare them half to death, By pulling there legs when there sleeping or slap them, kinda make them think that there crazy. I'd most definitely make a quick trip to people I don't like. Wouldn't you? I would also sneek in the teachers office and steel her test answer key. That way I wouldn't have to study for a test. I'd go visit the Queen of England and sneek in her castle. I mean really do some thing interesting be creative. Go sneek in the WHITE HOUSE OR SOMETHING. "AND I WOULDN'T DARE GIVE THE AMULET AWAY TO ANYONE". The retard Jason gave the stupid amulet to his friend COULD YOU BELIEVE THAT!!
Men if ur going to write this type of book make sure you read this and not try to do the same. Please be creative, USE UR BRAIN!!!!

Jason Ramsay is a super smart teenager with college level grades. Who has a not so secret crush on Becky from his history class for the past two years. Samatha is Jason's next door neighbor for as long as he could remember, who is often called Sam instead of Samatha. While waiting at the crosswalk, Jason rescues an elderly gentleman from being hit by a truck. The gentleman gives Jason an unique necklace or amulet to have as a thank you. The gentleman tells Jason to try the amulet while he's alone perplexed by these instructions. Jason puts on the amulet and is stunned to find himself invisible proceeds to test it out even further. Jason sneaks over to Sam's house and is stunned to hear Sam call his name during a private moment. Jason receives a startling phone call from his crush Beth wanting to know if he would like to go on a date with her; meanwhile forgetting that he already had plans with Sam. Jason continues to use the amulet out in new and different ways until he learns about a terrible event that is gonna happen to Sam. He believes his best friend Danny is going to hurt Sam and they get into a fight at school. Can Jason and Danny's friendship be saved? What startling news does Donna have for Jason? Can Jason rescue Sam in time? These questions and more are answered in the Amulet.
I liked the book. This book is about Jason finding himself. He is given an amulet after saving a mans life. He is given some advice when he first receives it. Then we are taken on a journey of a 18 year old boys life as he finds his way to the one person he has loved all along. I think this book is filled with young adult fantasies on being able to be “a fly on the wall”. Jason is that fly on the wall watching all kinds of sexual acts between other people.
Within the first couple of chapters of this book I felt like I was reading Playboy. As the story progressed and there was less of just a boy wanting to get off, there was a great story. When we finally got to the story part of the book I didn’t want to put it down till it was done. I did like Jason. He was funny and sweet and had a great personality. You laughed and felt bad in the book and those are things I look for. I didn’t however like to feel like I was reading underage sex. That creeped me out quite a bit almost to the point that I didn’t want to read the book. After I got past that and the story started to get a bit better I liked it. S. Wolf now has a second book out Amulet 2. I didn’t realize there was going to be a second. I might have to check that out.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author starts the book by saying they began it as a no-holds-barred sexual romp with very little plot but while writing, the story took matters into its own hands and turned it into more of a self discovery book about an 18 year old young man. I have to agree with the author, at first you start to think that this book is just random acts of sex while the perv, Jason, watches while using his amulet of invisibility. As the story progresses though you start to see the story shift and take form. Once the story started to take shape, I really fell into the story.
Favorite quote... Jason uses the amulet to sneak into Sam's house after he hurts her by forgetting about their date and getting caught on another date with his 2 yr crush. He finds her asleep in bed holding the picture of the two of them as kids, crumpled in her hand. "Sam, I want you to know something. I love you. I think I always have. I know you're angry with me, and you have every right to be. But I promise you this: While you're only hearing me say I love you in a dream, someday I'll say it to you when you're awake."
This was not what like anything I had ever read before. This was a book that I picked up through Pixel of Ink and didn't know anything about it other than the quick blurb that was written. To my recollection, nothing was said that this book was meant for those over 18. I really need to start reading more into what I pick up. This book is an erotic story...so it's not for those who would be offended and for anyone under the age of 18.
First, this book is laced with graphic sexual accounts. Jason, who is 18 finds himself the owner of a magical amulet that allows him to become invisible. As he is sneaking around to learn things about people, he learns that somethings aren't what they appear to be. He finds the love of his life. He learns secrets of his friends and his enemies.
This is actually a good book without the sex. The sex just makes it a little more risque. It's not a genre that I read, and don't know if I would be willing to read the second edition, Amulet 2. However, I did find that it was well written and held my intest throughout.
I just finished reading it this morning and it was much more interesting than the description led me to believe. I was impressed by the the characters in the story, but I did feel that it could have been better had the author taken more time to develop the story more. The last part through the ending felt "forced" liek he had to finish the book and knew where he wanted it to end so he just . . . finished it. There were some interesting scenes and scenerios, but I felt a couple of them were really unrealistic. But, since I'm not a good writer, and understand how difficult it can be to get the message across to readers in a fun and entertaining way - I give it 3 stars. Liked it - good short read and entertaining, but I've read better and definitely read MUCH worse!

Jason is the narrator of this book – and this is his story of Courage.
Jason saves a life, receives a gift that allows him to see the truth in his life. I loved this book and rated it a 5 star because the story was so cute and I can’t remember ever reading nor watching another like it.
Jason’s gift helped him see the truth in his life and learn the difference between _ _ _ and _ _ _ _ _ _ love.
A boy with a girl next door … they were friends .. then he was too cool for her… but in the end they realize or he realizes he loved her all along – but the girl always loved him.

I read this because it was free on Amazon and sounded like it might be better than it turned out to be. It wasn't bad but it didn't really engage me much either.
Basically, its about an 18 year old guy who gets an amulet that lets him become invisible, and promptly takes it upon himself to spy on neighbors, girls at school, and his friend, while they were all having sex/masterbating.
The amulet allows him to spy on people, mostly for his own enjoyment but also to find the truth at times and also shows him the differences between people in love and those in lust in intimate settings. Though he spies, he doesn't always get the facts straight, and still sees things through his own biased perspective, so he still makes mistakes but has a guide who helps him decipher the truth.
The book cover doesn't give a clue what to expect, but given that I never judge a book by its cover, I dug into this one. And I must admit, I was surprised at how the mystery and suspense were beautifully interwoven with the erotica, all in almost equal doses. A lover of mystery and suspense myself, I knew the minute Jason opened the door at the hotel room that he wasn't alone in there. Yup, I saw that one coming. I would have asked for the same thing as Sam did. I also liked the ending. My heart skipped at first when I saw "Hey Becky," then I started hoping it was a dream before I was finally relieved. And Danny, oh Danny! Interesting character. Nice one S. Wolf!
Almost gave it a 3 but decided to stay with my original rating of 4, why? Because the book was so much more than what I expected. First, I'll say that it was a free Amazon download, so what the heck, right? It was free and with good reviews ... so maybe it was the low expectation but boy I couldn't put it down and the characters and their struggles kept me wanting to know what was coming next. I won't go into the book description, there's plenty of those already, but before you decide to get the book I suggest you read them and understand what the book is about. The Author's note is worth reading also. Enjoy!
Very quick read, but fun story line. Who hasn't thought about what it would be like to acquire invisibility at least once in their life?! Wolf takes us on a small trip into the life of a young adult who gets exactly that and he does what any young 18 yr old male virgin would do ... explore what he might need to know --- "future reference". LOL I only wish it was a full novel (as opposed to a novelette) because of all the fun directions I know S. Wolf would have taken us to. Although its about seniors in high school, its very adult so maybe think before you recommend it to a less open minded reader. There is lots of sexual content, so prudish be warned. Still, I loved it.
I wasn't expecting much when I got this as a freebie on the Kindle. But, I began to find that it was so much more than just an erotica novel. Strictly, I tend to stay away from high school things like this, as it touches on a border that few are willing to cross. But, this book sucked me in.
Not only were there detailed, and decent, erotic moments, the storyline was very sweet, and it was genuine. I can see a continuation of this series happening based on the influence of the amulet, and more raucous adventures ensuing. I enjoyed the way the story progressed, and I enjoyed the ease with which the author blended the PG with the x-rated. Overall, good job.
I have to say Amulet was a pleasant surprise. I got it for free on Amazon and I didn't expect much of a plot, but I was wrong. It is an entertaining story. The characters are in high school which is usually a turn off for me, but they seemed fairly mature - they were 18.
Jason is the lead character and he has acquired an amulet that makes him invisible when he wears it. He wears it to spy on people, of course, he is an 18 year old virgin. He also uses it for some good.
This is a good short story and looks like there is another book. I will probably read it just because Jason is such a likable character and they are out of high school.
"An erotic love story." This was a quick read and although there are many scenes of a sexual nature and usually not my cup of tea....I must admit this book was written very well, has a great plot and some great twists.
Parts of this book are graphic....so it may not be for everyone...but the story is amazing....being invisible....who wouldnt want to be...and if you were....what would you do with this new found gift. Well Jason uses it in an unusual way...this a wonderful journey of young love...full of surprising twists...worth the read.
Wow, this was a free book & I absolutely loved it. It was a great story. Basically, Samantha is in love with Jason but to Jason she is the girl next door & grade school friend. Jason is in love with Becky & has been for 2 years. Becky wants Danny, Jason's best friend & most wanted guy in school. The twist is really all in the Amulet. I don't want to give anything away but if you like to read things a little on the magic side & erotic side than read this. I am going to keep an eye out for this writer from now on.
I'm actually really surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I got it on my kindle for free, expecting it to be like the other freebies, but wow, I was so into this book! I felt happy, sad, betrayed, and giddy at all the right times, rather than flying through it with mild interest. What a lovely read, I hope to read this second one, that's for sure.
(Did anyone else get completely surprised at the whole Gary/Danny switch?! I've never been fooled like that in a book, nor so angry at a character that I thought I felt a deep love for ((meaning Danny of course!)) but yeah wow that was crazy)
ok so this is erotic book (in which the characters are young adults)and some of us cannot take the thought of minors being pervert(and some of us might say "part of growing up). at first i really give it as a nonsense book of a boy having this kind of powers which he used 'for his own satisfaction' but after knowing the whole story well i got a second thought that maybe it is not all about that, maybe it can offer more. and there is really more about it not just being erotic, (i don't care what others might say about this or to me) but i simply like this book.
It's a surprisingly good read! I thought it started a little juvenile with all the highschool locker room sex romps... (well, I'm a 37yr old woman, for crying out loud! :P) But as the storyline goes on, it became more touching and romantic. I was pleasantly surprised how it made me laugh out loud and cried in tears... I couldn't put the book down after I started it, and I finished it in one go, reading till 3am in the morning.... some funny dialogues (Jason the nerd's words) are still in my head and still puts a smile to my face!!
This was a wonderfully surprising read! I especially enjoyed how the plot thickened as I read through about 75% of the book. This was definitely a page turner. I fell asleep one night trying too figure out what was going to happen with the girl next door. Wolf did an awesome job writing this book. The intimate scenes were not grotesque or over the top, but perfect for the manuscript. This was definitely a good read!
