Thought I was buying a book, not a chapter. Characters were one dimensional, political situation was unbelievable, the militia was made to be dumb rednecks. Not worth the time or money.
The US government is the focus of John Mayer's book "Secession." The government is of utmost importance since it not only has the most influence on a nation's men and women, but also the most power overall. I firmly think that power corrupts, as is often remarked. It is a terrible situation when a government is unable to meet the requirements of its citizens, but you would want to avoid upsetting your constituting bodies at all costs. You don't want to be standing at the bleak end of the threshold because the governing bodies, parliament, and entire democracies are like a house of cards.
The brutal aspects of the civil war that afflicted America at the time were depicted in this novel, which is likely the only one to do so. Something tells me that this book might be claimed to depict the same circumstances in a contemporary environment, and to be honest, that is something to be concerned by.

I advise you to read this book since it was thoughtfully written and will be enjoyable to do so. This book is definitely worth reading and buying. Did not finish I got about five chapters into this before I wanted to throw my iPad across the room in disgust. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be at all. I thought it might be something at least a little bit thoughtful about the political situation, but it degenerated into just another more or less right-wing screed. Ugh.
