Interestingly, the most important and impactful part of this book for me was an early chapter that outlines the reason we pray at all, and the importance of a daily time of prayer alone. I have never fully understood the reason for prayer, or why God would change his mind about his will based on the prayer of his people. This chapter helped me to understand that my fundamental understanding of how God works was flawed, and led to this misunderstanding about prayer and my responsibility to pray.
Of course most of the book casts a vision for praying with others, including a single prayer partner, a small prayer group, a church praying together, and praying for our city, state, country, leaders, and other countries. This book makes me wish corporate prayer were more actively encouraged in my own church and encourages me to be intentional about inviting others to come and agree together before God about whatever we may feel led to pray about.
This book addresses facets of prayer that I have not often heard much focus on in my life as a Christian. I will definitely be recommending it to others.

This book was absolutely amazing. I have read quite a few books on prayer but this one stands out high above the rest. The authors take us on a personal journey in their lives and we get to hear about their experiences with the power of praying together. The book gives great guidelines on how to pray in specific situations as well as situations that you’re just not sure how to pray.
The book discusses the power of what happens when people come together to pray. Reading this book actually made me want to start my own prayer group. I see the importance of having prayer groups after reading this book, and one day I really hope to have one. This book should be read by everyone and I give it 5***** without a doubt.

I thought this book was going to be about praying together as husband and wife. It is more about praying together as believers, a community, a society, a nation, a world. It brought to light a way of praying that I have never considered before. As a result I feel my prayer life was changed forever.

This is the 2nd book I've read from Stormie and I love the way she writes and encourages us to pray. I always look forward to praying HER written prayer at the end of each chapter too. This book has helped me to realize how important it is to pray for our country and our world...our prayers DO make a difference!

Review:
Stormie Omartian and Jack Hayford’s book the Power of Praying Together is an excellent resource. Their explanation of why group prayer is so effective is clear and anecdotal. The scriptural background for their teaching is evident and the book is an appropriate challenge to the church to “step up in faith and see the power of Christ’s triumph today…[They say] We are agents for intercession for God’s kingdom, and he wants us to become his instruments of his redemption in every situation through Holy Spirit-energized prayer” (The Power of Praying Together by Stormie Omartian with Jack Hayford, Harvest House Publishers, 2013, p. 166, 167). Amen and amen. A must read. Five stars.

“The triumph Jesus won when he said ‘it is finished’ (John 19:30) broke the power of sin, death and hell open and for all: but that victory awaits application on earth” (p. 176).
“An intercessor is someone who steps into the gap between God’s righteousness and man’s failure, and through prayer, brings the merits of the cross to bear upon people and situations. Intercessors are needed because the world is filled with men and women who don’t understand the effects of their own sin. some really good things ab prayer in this one! the testimonies she tells are really powerful and I want to be able to pray boldly like this! the end of each chapter has a written out prayer which is cool to pray. a good book ab prayer! not too frilly or gripping but it’s not really meant to be that.

Though Stormie means well and quotes a lot of supportive scriptures, I can’t help but feel reminded of my Baptist upbringing and twitch a little bit. Overall summary, prayer is powerful, don’t shy away from it and there is strength in numbers.
