The second novel in the Detective Jake series.A serial killer prows the campus of Casey Armstrong Preparatory Academy. There seems to be no leads pointing to the killer or the motive for the murders. The only thing Detective Jake Stalb can be sure about is that the unknown suspect is copying a killer from many decades ago and across the ocean in England. Because the person committing these homicides is being very careful and leaving no fingerprints or DNA, Jake thinks his current case will end up with the same solution as that other case; a case he's studied and considers the world's greatest cold case. He and the rest of his team must work through their individual doubts about themselves and stop the killer before more people die.Becoming a father is something Jake thought would never happen. He and Clarissa had been told early in their marriage that she would never be able to have children. But he discovers the miracles he never believed in do happen. His long-held atheistic beliefs begin to change as he thinks about everything that has happened over the past couple of months.

Sheila is an independent author who enjoys writing for the sake of writing.

As a novelist, she enjoys creating new characters and situations which reflect life in the real world. Unlike many of the novels in the crime and mystery genres, the novels in both the Detective Jake and Special Crimes Task Force series incorporates stories about the detectives which show what their lives are like beyond the limited scope of their jobs. These subplots relate the struggles and successes of the detectives and their families. In their entirety, her novels relay the process of solving the crimes as well as the personal lives of the main characters as a way to demonstrate there is more to the life of the detectives other than catching the criminals - that there is a life beyond the badge.

She has also has written, and has plans to write, works of non-fiction. Most of the topics will be familiar to a wide range of people.

Sheila is a life-long resident of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. While employed in a full-time position with a growing printed plastics company, she does most of her writing in the evenings and on weekends. She also enjoys a variety of other activities including reading, researching her family history, walking in the woods, camping, and bowling. One of her favorite things is the opportunity to watch the wildlife which often moves through the yard of her semi-rural home.

Detective Jake was given a second chance at life; the life he so cherished with his wife Clarissa. Though hesitant to re-embrace his career as a detective, he made a well-thought out decision to continue saving the lives of others. In his pursuit to discover a suspect who appears to be a copycat serial killer, Jake learns that this was indeed the job he was meant to do.
"Ripped" will keep you on the edge of your seat, with a constant desire to know what happens next. As the author reveals possible suspects, the story leads you on a quest to figure out who is responsible for viciously taking the lives of the innocent.
It is a well-written, easy to follow story that takes you through the mind of a person on a killing-spree, along with the thought strategy of the detectives that are trying to find the killer. Though mostly about crime, "Ripped" also delves into the heart and soul of a marriage based on true love, admiration and respect.
I highly suggest this one, another great book by Sheila Rae Myers.
