Norse’s surreal novella, Beat Hotel, is a literary landmark. Except for the celebrated novels of William Burroughs, it is the only other important Cut-up fiction written at the hotel while the experimental method was being developed there. This first American edition of a prose work by the Internationally known poet completes the early history of Cut-up.

Harold Norse was an American writer, openly gay, who created a body of work using the American idiom of everyday language and images. One of the expatriate artists of the Beat generation, Norse was widely published and anthologized.
