I was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico—before it was chic. My family moved to the East when I was three. I grew up in Teaneck, New Jersey and went to Skidmore College when it was still an all girl's school.

Being a lifelong wordsmith led me to such jobs as writing copy at ad agencies and doing sales promotions at Mademoiselle magazine. My first book, Circles, was published in 1984 as a paperback original and stayed on The New York Times Bestseller List for three months. Since then, I've published First Born, Rightfully Mine, The Wild Rose, True Colors, The Lucky Ones, Out of Nowhere, Before and Again, Shades of Red, and recently The Nest, the first in a series: Country Club Crimes. With both the hard and soft cover publications, I've resided on Bestseller Lists many times and have nearly twenty million books in print worldwide, with translations in fourteen languages.

I've been married for thirty-one years to a classic Type A personality who works hard, plays hard, sleeps fast, thinks deeply, and believes that commuting is a form of vehicular combat. I have two grown children, a daughter-in-law and two gorgeous grand girls!

My hobbies include golf, bridge and raising funds for breast cancer research.

Δεν αξίζει να του δώσω άλλο χρόνο και ενέργεια... so many books so little time.

I really thought this was an excellent book, about the ins and outs of a presidential campaign, and the underhanded dealings that occurred. Some reviewers on other sites complained of too many characters and yes, there were a lot, but all played an important part of the story. Good read.

Barely a 3 star. Predictable. Don’t think I would have read this except it was in the house and I was running low due to pandemic constraints.

LOVE, LOVE this author!!!!! Every book that I've read of hers puts me in some sort of trance......I can't put the book down, and if I do, I keep thinking about it. Her characters are so engaging and just connect you to their world immediately. Who can say what kind of magic that an author has that simply causes you to fall in love with their style and the tale that they share? Is it in how they form sentences, the characters themselves, the background theme or maybe the author's personality in word? The combination that Mortman uses certainly seems to be exactly what this brain finds fascinating. Thank you, Doris Mortman, for sharing your talent with us!!!

Badly plotted and edited, compared with her previous book, True Colors. Characters were a small handful of Harvard grads who basically ran the country -- as they also ran back and forth among one another’s beds. Some of the sub plots had potential, but in trying to include too much, Mortman ended up fleshing out her characters and her plot far too little. Disappointing.
