USA Today™ best-selling author Elizabeth Lennox writes contemporary romance novels featuring sheiks, business tycoons, royalty, and other sexy rich men. Her male lead characters are smart, driven and determined, but can still be sensitive and vulnerable. Elizabeth’s female lead characters come from a variety of backgrounds. They are strong, intelligent and independent, while still feminine and caring.

Although she wanted to be a romance novelist since the eighth grade, that dream only became a reality for her in 2009 and a full time job in 2012. Along the way, she received a BS in History and held different jobs in the real estate, government consulting, and financial industries. All during that time, though, she was always writing, using her personal experiences, dreams, and travels throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean as backdrops for her stories. To date, she has written over eighty books and sold over 5.1 million copies. Her free novellas have been downloaded over 8 million times since 2013.

Elizabeth lives in Virginia with her husband and two children. Their home is just outside of Washington, D.C., and many of her novels are set in this area.

Elizabeth Lennox, if that even is her name (doubtful), should be ashamed of herself.
I was interested in this book because of the seemingly strong lead. However, it reads like one of those old fashioned medieval romance novels where the man rapes the (strong) female lead and, despite her personality and hello! the fact that he raped her, she falls in love with him.
This too sends the message, 'Are you in an abusive relationship? Want help? Want to get out? Why bother? They take *such* good care of you.'

I was so angry and upset at the end that I actually shed tears. Is there no value in being strong and independent even in a conservative family? Why couldn't she fall in love and rub everyone's noses in the fact that she is better than them?

Novels like this perpetuate the myth that women are powerless and that is bullshit.
If I were Antonia, I would have spit in their faces, sexy man or no. No man and no relationship is worth being anything less than your beautiful, sexy, and SMART self. You should NEVER EVER EVER have to change yourself to please another person and any man who expects you to change yourself for him does not truly love you.

I honestly dont know how to rate this book, I really liked it but it made me so damn angry I wanted to punch the screen....Repeatedly.
I like that she gets pregnant....it was obvious so its not even a spoiler.

Her brothers are SO over protective, especially Sal that I wanted to ring the necks of every single one of them. and seriously Brett, you may not have pushed the brothers to what they did, but when someone says no to marrying you and wants to run away, just let them say no, dont push them for more than they are willing to give to you.

As for Antonia... You can run away on a lot less than $500. You may be rich but you can get an apartment for 30 days for that. and in that time you can get a job, so what if your brothers froze your assets (in my opinion that is major messed up and completely unrealistic) but she still could have gone...If she had, brett tracking her down would have been a better story line.

3.5 Begrudgingly given stars.

Crazy ass story about a women who wants independence but ends up loving being bossed around! She never confronts her brothers for the way they treat her and nor does she stand up for herself. She even manages to find one more cave man in her life filled with cavemen a.k.a. her brutish brothers who care less about her feelings and more about protecting her from worldly dangers which they are hypocrites enough to be posing themselves.

MC Antonia has a completely contradicting personality, she doesn't want to be a push over but is a coward and thus ends up lying and living a dual life!

Brett is cruel to her always ignoring her negative replies.

Brett keeps on cornering her, forcing her to spend time with him, managing to kiss her every single time she says no, sleeping with her and then manipulating her into marrying him by blackmail and pushing her in a corner without any options.

No redeeming qualities in Antonia.

I loved this book couldn't put it down. Antonia is the youngest of the Attracelli family, she has five older brothers, Salvatore,Carlo,Michael,Thomas,Gus and her sister Sophia. When Antonia was young their family received tragic news about her older sister Sophia. Now older Antonia lives on her own and has a job, but neither of her brothers know where she lives or works because they would never approve and would make her move back home if they found out. One day Antonia went to a restaurant to meet her brother Sal for lunch and when she got there Sal was having a meeting with Brett Hancock. Brett couldn't stop thinking about Antonia, but she didn't want anything with him even though he was very attractive. When Antonia and Brett slept together for the first time her five brothers showed up and Sal punched Brett, but after talking with her brothers they made a decision without consulting Antonia, and Brett just told her to pick a date or one will be pick for her. Antonia wanting to live her own life and make her own decisions, she decided to leave her family and Brett, but she would have to get out of Washington, D.C. to be free from her controlling brothers and fiance.

There was so much promise and then, so much let down. The story line is good, but could have been so much better.

The main characters were good and the secondary characters were good. But each could have been better. It felt like the bare necessities were given - just because it was a requirement.

The author glossed over so many things. The book is written from an omniscient POV but when the POV changes it isn't always clear. I found myself re reading small sections, so that I could catch the change.

Overall - if you want a short, quick read where you won't develop an attachment to the characters then pick this one up.

I liked it but ........

I like just about all of the books that I have read from this author, thus far however I don't appreciate the way that Antonia's brothers kept trying to manipulate her life to suit them. I understand close families, culture and tradition but her brothers in this book took it a step too far.

stubborn woman

Good story and loved her overprotective brothers. Brett was gorgeous and truly in tune with Antonia. Would have loved it to be a little longer for the ending. On to the next one now.

this book dragged for me in some parts in the sense tht i didnt feel the usual EL passion.

all in all it was a nice read because i doubt shes ever written something crappy lol.

why did she have to choose that as a career choice when she was intelligent (i mean she has a degree, shes knowledgeable about investments and she has a trust fund... not that im saying theres something wrong with being a waitress but really would being a waitress at such a establishment be your first choice if you had education and money). just saying...

also i would soooo have read my brothers the riot ac if they 'thought' they could dictate my life. if she wanted to be a biker kitten then she shouldve just lived her life or moved where she could.

felt sorry about sophia (wud be awesome if she wasnt dead but lost her memory all these years and they had the wrong girl hey

This is a well written book. But I'm only giving it 2 stars because of the way hero bulldozes the heroine to doing what he wants even though she has such issues about controlling family. Forcing her to quit her job and moving her stuff out of her apartment without her consent is a violation. Helping her brothers to manipulate her even more so. I've had my fair share of control-freaky family. I like dominant men who are in control of their own lives and their own destinies but forcibly taking control of mine is where I draw the line. Having a wife that was manipulated into marriage by force is never a good start. And he's not repentant about it.

I hated the male characters with a passion!

I've Never seen such arrogant chauvinistic men in all my life. And Antonia kept taking it. She was such a wimp! And they still don't get it. There was no resolution or growth in either character. I'm ended this book feeling disgusted because I usually like Lennox books. I'm afraid to buy the next one in the series. Sincerely disgusted.

Thinking of the heroine in the cat suit was amusing and I loved the way Antonia defies her brother, eschews her family money and sets out to prove herself. She really teaches her sexist brothers a lesson. And Brett was fabulous - he wouldn't put up with any of Antonia's shenanigans.

Yet another great, fast read from Ms. Lennox.

I really enjoyed this book. The heroine loves her brothers and they try to wrap her in bubble wrap. So she pretends to do what they say, while living her life as she wants. Then she meets a strong man through her brothers and falls in love hard. She is afraid he'll treat her like the men in her family do, so she tries to run, but it doesn't work.
Great dialog, romance, sexy scenes and fun.
