A Canadian Amish farmer

A Lancaster Amish businesswoman

A Prince Edward Island foster child

Providence brings together a mismatched family, giving all three a second chance for love. Only love may never have had such a tough job.

Lydia Miller is an anomaly among her Amish people-a single woman in her 30s, running her own store, determined to forge a life on her own. But when Joel Yoder comes into town to sell his property, Lydia suddenly finds all of her hopes and dreams crumbling around her and a new opportunity placed in her lap.

Joel has his own problems. Recently jilted by his fiancée, Joel has seen his own dreams of moving to a newly established Amish community begin to falter. The new community welcomes married couples only. With his dreams quickly slipping from his fingers, Joel suddenly sees the only option he thinks he has-a marriage of convenience for both of them.

As the new couple begins life in a new settlement, they are even more surprised when a foster child in need of a home finds her way to them. Yet what will happen when the English world and the Amish world collide?

FOREVER HOME is the first book in the Amish of Prince Edward Island series.
I’ve never read Amy Grochowski before but I really loved her writing. I was pulled into the story from the first page and I stayed that way until the very last page. The twists and turns keep coming and I had to know how it was going to end! Every time I thought I knew where this story was going, a few pages later, Amy Grochowski threw me for a loop and I knew I was wrong!

FOREVER HOME is a quick read and unputdownable! There were quite a few times when reading it that I wanted to reach into the pages and hug a few of these people with what they were feeling and what they were going through. I found myself laughing one second and then tearing up the next. If you are looking for a beautiful story to pull you out of your book slump, you can’t go wrong with FOREVER HOME. Amy Grochowski is now an author I want to read more of.

The twists and turns in FOREVER HOME are going to keep you up late into the night trying to figure it out. One minute you believe you know where Lydia is going with her life and the next you are sitting there shaking your head, wondering what the heck just happened. I had my ideas, I had it all figured out, or so I thought, and BAM…….wrong again! Once you start reading, trust me, you aren’t going to be able to stop! When everything is finally revealed, well, you won’t believe it!

FOREVER HOME begins with Lydia facing many life changes. She is about to lose her home and her business and it’s all because of Joel Yoder. I thoroughly enjoyed reading FOREVER HOME. I loved the banter between Lydia and Joel. It is heart warming and filled with so many different emotions. There is so much going on in this story, but Amy Grochowski does a wonderful job of weaving all the pieces together. All of the characters will have you feeling sad and then giggling on the same page. More than once I wanted to be there with my new found friends! Once you finish devouring this story, you are going to want to tell everyone you know about this awesome book.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I loved this novel!
A new to me author that I immediately liked and since I'm already fond of the Amish this story touched my heart deeply.
I could relate to some of it because my parents were foster parents for many years. A thing that I was jealous of for many years. Now, that I am grown I look back and see that my parents were totally selfless. That's a true gift.
These characters will melt your heart. You'll want to laugh and cry with them in their joyous moments and in their sad one too.
A subject that Grochowski did really well with and is rarely talked about among the Amish is autism.
This story gave me a somewhat idea of what parents go through and deal with all the time. The Amish aren't exempt from the things we are.
I liked that this story will keep you spellbound until the end. You'll not want to put it down until you see what happens with our friends.
I haven't enjoyed a book like this in a long time!

Forever Home was such a good marriage of convenience story. I liked the way the two main characters bonded early on as friends. Both of them carried some insecurities into the marriage, as well. They had a lot to work through, and Lydia did not feel worthy of love, motherhood, or God’s forgiveness because of guilt that she carried.

There were times that I wanted Lydia and Joel to communicate better. However, the way they learned to share the truth and their feelings with each other was fairly realistic considering they were nearly strangers when they married. I liked that both of these characters grew so much during the story.

The way Lydia and Joel fell in love with and worked so hard to care for the little girl with autism was also extremely well-written. It was such a sweet part of the story and the dedication that Lydia had to doing everything she could to help their foster child showed what a kind heart she possessed.

Oooh, I loved this book! Amy Grochowski's Forever Home ranks as one of my favorite Amish romances ever. I was drawn in from page one, and I couldn’t put it down. The characters are so well rounded and real—I cared about Lydia and Joel. The gritty dilemmas they faced made their slow-blooming romance even sweeter. Grochowski debuts with a sparkling skill, bringing a wonderful freshness to the genre of Amish fiction. Highly recommend!

I was interested in reading this Amish story because of the beautiful setting of Prince Edward Island. (I learned from the author’s notes that the Amish are indeed beginning to build a community there.) Although it was the setting that first drew me to read the book, I found that the storyline was absorbing and that the characters had depth to them.

Lydia and Joel agree to a marriage of convenience, and after their marriage Lydia moves to the new farm that Joel is establishing on PEI. They both have secrets that they are keeping from each other; but both decided to share them later when their marriage is more established. However, the heart of this story revolves around Samy, the little four year old girl who has autism. She’s an English child who has been orphaned. Lydia and Joel take her into their home as a foster child; quickly come to love her; and want to adopt her. The question becomes as to whether Lydia’s secret past will impact both the adoption and their marriage. Lydia and Joel have much to learn about each other, but as their faith grows stronger, they begin to trust that God will grant them the desires of their hearts.

This is a beautifully written story. I liked the pacing of the storyline. The author took time to let the events build in the story and the ending was not rushed. I’m hoping there’s another book in this series.

I visited Prince Edward Island last summer and learned that there is an Amish Community on the island. When I saw this series, I decided that I would read it as it fulfills my read a book from Prince Edward Island, but also maybe find out a bit about the community. Lydia Miller is a single woman in her 30s, running her own store, and with no plans to marry. When Joel Yoder decides he wants to resettle in the newly established Amish community on Prince Edward Island, he sells the property where Lydia's store is housed. Her dreams come to a halt, as well as Joel's when his fiancée breaks off their relationship. The problem Joel has is that the new community is only welcoming married couples at this time, so Joel and Lydia decide on a marriage of convenience where they can start a new life on Prince Edward Island. Shortly after arriving, Lydia meets Sammy, a foster child that keeps running away from her foster family and finding her way to their home. Sammy is not only English, but is on the autism spectrum, but she quickly worms her way into Lydia's and Joel's hearts. They become temporary foster parents, and eventually want to adopt her, but there are barriers in the way, especially the fact that they are Amish and she is English. Will this little group become a family?

I liked this story a lot. It was quite emotional at times, and it really pulled at my heartstrings. Sammy was adorable and I wanted the best for her. I loved how she came alive living with Lydia and Joel. The marriage of convenience was the one sticking point for me. They both develop feelings for one another, but don't share them. They needed to communicate with one another and that is the one trope that I am not a fan of. There are some other twists and complications involving Joel's sister-in-law and you will learn about that when you read this book. The setting, characters and storyline are all wonderful and pulled me into the story. This is one of the best Amish stories I have read in awhile and I will definitely be reading or listening to more in the series. The audiobook was narrated by Emma Lysy. She does a nice job with this story and made it come alive for me. I thought her voices fit well and her expression was spot on. If you enjoy Amish Fiction, then I definitely recommend this one in whatever format you enjoy.

This is quite a unique book. You’ve got Amish who haven’t married but then have to and an English foster child is thrown in the mix too. Plus it’s the first that I’ve ever read in this unique setting as well.

Forever Home is a unique twist on the normal Amish novel that will keep you reading straight through to the last word. Enjoy! This is the author’s debut novel and I can’t wait to see what happens next for her because this one hit it out of the park.

I love a novel that pulls me in and won’t let me go. The characters became my best friends. I kept thinking I knew exactly where this book was going only to be then reading and going wow I didn’t see that coming or what just happened here!? It definitely did not behave like I thought it would.

I loved the setting. PEI is somewhere I really want to go someday so I loved reading about a community there. I think the author has a unique storyline in that she did live with Beachy Amish and has Anabaptist roots which is probably what made this story so believable. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future and can’t wait for book two in the series to come to me!

The people within this book are real. They have real problems and they go about them in real flawed ways. I loved it and highly recommend you read this book too.

This was an unexpected find at my library! A new-to-me author in the Amish genre and it's set in Prince Edward Island! That right there is enough to send me into a bibliophile swoon. But there's another draw too -- the marriage of convenience trope -- Eeeeeeeeeppppp!

I don't know why I am so drawn to marriage of convenience stories because, on principle, the idea is atrocious, but my romance loving heart also finds it soooo romantical...in fiction, mind you. :-) And this one is written so well. Really beautifully crafted and emotionally engaging.

We start out in Ohio but move on to Prince Edward Island pretty quickly and then the fun really begins! And by fun I mean angst. There's so much for Lydia to come to grips with -- not the least of which is having a husband! They go from wary truce to friendship but stubbornly stop at developing deeper feelings -- or at least acknowledging that deeper feelings are developing. Joel makes some missteps, Lydia harbours old hurts and they are just so achingly vulnerable it stirred me into a page-turning reading frenzy to get them past the rough spots.

And then there's the added drama of throwing a foster child into the mix. Talk about pulling at heart strings -- little Samy adds so much to the story. And there's a wonderful fledgling Amish community who welcome (mostly) Joel and Lydia into the fold. And, woohoo, this is the first book in the 'Amish Dreams on Prince Edward Island' series. Off to hunt down the next one now.

A quick Amish read about forgiveness, true love, and chosen family. Lydia Miller stands out in her community. She's single, in her thirties, and owns her own business. Or did own a business. Her landlord sold it out from right beneath her. Her landlord, a good looking Amish man from Prince Edward island - claims to have known not who was renting it and feels so much guilt that he proposes to her and offers to take her to a new community. She has nothing to lose and since he will have a wife he will be allowed to move into the new community for married families only. It's a win win. They are friendly enough and maybe feelings will grow - but first they have to clear the air. They are both hiding things from their past and it's holding them back from seeing what is right in front of them. Cute and charming.

Amish Fiction is probably my favorite Genre to read. Amy Grochowski is a "new to me author" and after reading this book, I am very much looking forward to reading more from this author.

Forever Home is a slightly different Amish Fiction read. I really enjoyed that is wasn't your "typical" Amish Fiction book. The difference here is that this book brings together 3 different "worlds". Lydia Miller is an Amish girl who meets a Canadian Amish Farmer. The 2 are thrown into a situation where for their dreams to come true, they need to get married. The marriage would allow them to buy land in an Amish Community for Married Couples only. The book gets really interesting when as the couple is getting used to married life in their community, an opportunity to Foster a Child, who is not Amish, is presented to them. The book has lots of twists and turns and kept me deep into the book wondering how the outcome would be.

I HIGHLY recommend this book! FANTASTIC READ!!

A couple of days after finishing “Forever Home”, I found myself missing the characters, and I wished I could spend more time with them. I think that speaks to how well-written this book is. The author has a beautiful style, and it’s obvious that she painstakingly researched many details in order to present an accurate portrayal of Amish culture.

As a foster (pre-adoptive) mom, I especially connected with that thread of the story, and I love how clearly the love of God is presented within the pages. I’m looking forward to reading more from Amy Grochowski.

Short but interesting!
I loved this beautiful story of Joel, Lydia, and Samy into becoming a family. Lydia's journey into accepting God's forgiveness and letting go of the guilt that held her bound and embracing the beautiful life and family God had for her. I loved their patience and love with fostering sweet Samy despite her uniqueness.
I love the answers this book gives on the Christian faith and holding onto what really matters in our Christian walk with God.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story! Not your typical plot and I loved the relatable characters. What a wonderful reminder that we are not bound by our past and that our entire life plan is ultimately in the Lord's hands, not people or circumstances in this world. It was also a beautiful setting in Prince Edward Island and I appreciated the Amish dialect mixed in the text, it brought dimension to the story.

An Amish Forever Home is an amazing book written by Amy Grochoski. I love the location of Prince Edward Island for the story. I enjoyed the characters who really brought this story to life. When two people make the choice to marry in name only it poses all sorts of problems but it also helps them heal from difficulties in their past. A lovely story of healing, starting over, and strong faith.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Oh, I loved this so much. It was such a sweet story with a surprising amount of sexual tension for an Amish romance. New Hope felt magical with its fairy tale like quality. I appreciated an older character with a feisty personality. I can’t wait to read the next two!

Plan on reading Amy Grochowski’s novel, Forever Home, in one or two sittings. It is THAT good! Lydia and Joel both have secrets, so it’s not apparent if the romancing couple will make it. Then a red head child with special needs comes into the picture and the story takes on a new dimension. There is also the Amish culture colliding with the Engilsh, and how they navigate these issues that Amy writes about, and from an obvious knowledge-base that made this subject believable. But what makes this a “must read” is more than this well-developed story plot—Amy’s skill as a writer is so good I found myself dogearing the pages of a novel. For instance, Amy writes, “Her heart snapped a picture.” This is only one example of the many one-line masterpieces in the story. I assure you; this romance will live in your heart long after you read its conclusion. And yes, I did read till the wee hours of morning ‘till the sun crested the horizon. I just could not put this novel down. I am hoping Amy will make a sequel...

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I look forward to reading more from her. This book is the first in the Amish of Price Edward Island series. The author has written some amazing, unique characters, with a beautifully written story line. I love marriage of convenience stories.
This one, however shows that you should always be honest with your spouse. Lydia and Joel enter into their marriage holding back secrets. Which can get you tangled up. They do learn to trust each other.
They also become foster parents to a English child with Autism. Lydia and Joel fall in love with this sweet child -and want to adopt her - however will their pasts hurt them?

I loved this story. It is a story of ultimate trust of God and forgiveness. It is well written and leaves you wanting to read more of the characters.

I received a copy of this book through the JustRead program -- all thoughts are my own.

The cover on the back of the book states, “A Canadian Amish farmer, a Lancaster Amish businesswoman, a Prince Edward Island foster child” and that makes for a very interesting and endearing story. I enjoy marriage of convenience stories as usually the characters do not even know what hits them until one day, they realize their feelings go much deeper than a matter of convenience. This is a new-to-me author. I enjoyed the story so much and will be checking into other books she has written. The characters are lovable, especially adorable little Samy. I recommend you check this story out soon!

This is a wonderful love story about an independent Amish woman, an Amish man wanting to buy a farm on Prince Edward Island and an orphan girl in foster care trying to find their places in the world and with each other. It is a beautiful example of how a loving and supportive community comes together to help these newcomers find forgiveness and life together as a family.

Grochowski writes a very endearing story about how Lydia and Joel form a family around a young autistic orphan in an Amish community. The author describes how Amish life blends with "Englisher" life in today's world. The setting of Prince Edward Island makes the story unique. A very nice read.
