Psychology have always fascinated me and this little book is compact and fascinating to read on the psychology of people. The creator of Psych2go for those who are familiar with this channel on Youtube will find this book a treat to read. Filled with brim on the psychology topics from what makes you you to the experiments done in the past that explain this behavioural in human beings can be very interesting to read. I like the colourful illustrations that are making the points on the topic and the sort of goofy comments inserted here and there to appeal to the reader. Although, the text can get quite dry and paste for those who may not be familiar with the terms talked about in here.

Thank you to Times Reads for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a little biased as someone who enjoys the Psych2Go videos on youtube, but I do believe this book accomplishes what it was intended to do: Presenting various facets of psychology in a contemporary, inviting and humorous fashion. While the lack of a list of references at the end did strike me as odd, the concepts introduced in each chapter are presented with relevant studies and background information, not simply anecdotes from the author.

I'd recommend this as an accessible entry for those casually interested in psychology studies, a welcoming alternative to dry textbooks and history. You won't find yourself being sold on techniques or methods either, as pop psychology can often veer deep into self-help territory. The cherry on top was that it's made especially clear by the author that though the book is meant to be fun and informative, it is definitely no substitute for professional mental health help.

I hate to do this because I love Psych2Go YouTube videos but I have to. I started reading this book with VERY high expectations this book it had some very interesting facts but the only every 50 pages or so most of the book I felt like was just rambling but that's just my personal opinion who knows maybe you will love this book, I feel like Psych2Go makes the best videos and maybe that was the problem that I was comparing it with the videos but in my opinion this book is not very good I would recommend to just stick with the videos

I've been interested in psychology for more than a decade now and though I was familiar with some of the experiments and studies mentioned in the book, there were others that were new to me and overall the information was both helpful and interesting.

But the comments by the author seemed like rambling when he was trying to be funny and I would have preferred a different tone to the book. `

Overall an interesting read!

Thanks to Edelweiss and Mango for the e-copy!

Disclaimer: I'm a writer for Psych2Go, although I had no involvement in this book.

The Psychology of People is just like the Psych2Go YouTube channel: Lots of useful psychology tips in a digestible and friendly format, not to mention the leaf-headed mascot Psy! The scope of the book is all-encompassing and it covers the basics of every topic like a university's Psychology 101 course. In order, the book covers an introduction to Psych2Go itself, perception, motivation, society, misconceptions, opinions, relationships and abnormal psychology.

Throughout the book, Thomas Kang's colloquial style shines through with many funny jokes that help every lesson feel relatable (my favourite was the sticker salesman). At the same time, it cites scientific studies to back up every fact, emphasising the legitimacy of the research.

Overall, I would rate this book highly, although the breadth of content means that it has to skip from one subject to another quite rapidly, without enough connective tissue or lessons for the reader. My personal favourite takeaway was the effect of music on task performance (a negative effect for complex tasks and a positive effect for routine tasks!).

Nice book that touches the surface of what psychology is. It was a fun read, but at times it just felt that it was either too much or to shallow.

Either way, I enjoyed it!
