Excellent. Another transformative book about transformative teaching. There’s so much wisdom here, and almost all of it is practical and applicable. For every teaching element Eckert walks through, he includes an exemplar and classroom strategy. I can see this radically improving the way I approach feedback and assessment especially.

This book has several extremely helpful tips and frameworks for understanding teaching, but there is nothing groundbreaking or profound enough to push a high rating. Were half stars an option, I would probably go 3.5. Ultimately, while Eckert is a Christian, this book is written for a general audience, so key Christian worldview pieces that could have pushed this book over the top are implied rather than explicitly discussed. Definitely worth a read for someone who wants to become a better educator, but it shouldn’t be the first book off the shelf.
