Love, love, love romance, the paranormal, hunky Highlanders with their delicious brogue and hot kilts, so Terry Spear writes about those hunky Highlanders both in medieval times and as wolves in contemporary times. Jaguar shifters too! And young adult urban fantasy. And romantic suspense.
She grew up reading mystery, adventure, mythologies from around the world, ghost stories, the paranormal, fell in love with Dracula and Wolfman, and felt they needed loving too. Everyone should have someone to love. Which means her stories always have a HEA.

Terry Spear has written a novel full of romance, humor, and holiday celebrations with Her Wolf for the Holidays, the seventh book in the Highland Wolf series. Edeen Campbell purchased a manor house and 100 acres in the Scottish Highlands a year ago from EJ Campbell, with the condition that he could live there until he died. He has died and she has moved in next door to the MacQuarrie clan living in the castle nearby. All are werewolves, but they are EJ had feuded for years. Lachlan MacQuarrie, the pack leader’s youngest brother is tasked with finding out about Edeen and whether she will sell the property.
Edeen is spirited, fun-loving with a sense of humor, loves animals and nature, and is somewhat impetuous. Lachlan is friendly, charming, gallant, and somewhat impulsive. It was fun to get to know Edeen and Lachlan as well as the supporting characters. Those who have read previous books in the series will find some of the main characters in those novels appear in this one.
The characterization and world-building are well-done in this novel. It’s a light, easy read with a fast-paced romance. While there was some minor conflict, I wanted some additional intensity and suspense. Despite this, I enjoyed the book.
Overall, this is a heartwarming, funny, and entertaining holiday read. I’m looking forward to my next book by this author.
SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Terry Spear provided a complimentary digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently set for October 10, 2023. ---------------------------------- My 4.15 rounded to 4 stars review is coming soon.
Her Wolf for the Holidays by Terry Spear Highland Wolf series #7. Wolf shifter paranormal romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series as family of the hero’s are secondary characters through much of this story. Edeen Campbell buys a home in the Scottish Highlands from a bitter old name who had a grudge against his neighbors. He had deliberately tracked down a wolf shifter with his same last name to hide the sale of the property. When Edeen moves in after the old man’s death, a happy dog comes jumping over the dike to welcome her, causing her own two dogs to chase after it. Lachlan MacQuarrie is more than happy to follow his brother’s instructions to keep Edeen happy. Edeen and Lachlan fall for each other as they set up her house, struggle to keep warm through a blizzard and fight against an interloper who claims the house should be his.
Family and Scottish clans form a close knit group and they welcome Edeen and her brother into their midst. Falling for each other feels natural. It’s a fun romp as the MacQuarries make Edeen feel welcome. Slow burn romance until they decide to mate and then it gets steamy. The writing felt a bit like stating lots of little facts of time, place and lots of descriptions of food so it took me a bit to appreciate the romance. I was satisfied in the end as not only did Edeen and Lachlan love each other, but the whole clan took the new Campbells into their hearts and lives. Lots of pets all around helped make this special.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher.
Edeen has purchased a wonderful old home in Scotland from an elderly gentleman who warns her about the bad neighbors who want to acquire his property. However when she arrives, she finds that the neighbors, who are also wolf shifters, couldn't be nicer, especially the youngest brother, Lachlan. A castle in Scotland, a close and friendly pack, and a spicy holiday romance--Terry Spear always delivers an enjoyable escape. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Had a lot of fun and enjoyed this festive instalment set in Scotland. Well plotted, entertaining, I rooted for the characters and enjoyed the atmosphere Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Christmas Theme Shifter Romance with some steam. Was enjoyable, light hearted pallet cleanser with some steamy mating, This was like a breath of fresh air and it was great to see the pack again. I liked the little twist with a trouble making perp. This was pure entertainment that left me smiling and waiting for Christmas. Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions, #HerWolffortheHolidays #TerrySpear #SourcebookCasablanca #NetGalley
I adored this book and will be looking to read more of Terry Spear's works. I do love a good werewolf romance story, but this one was really special. I found Edeen delightful and enjoyed Lachlan's pack family. Adding in the special season of Christmas made this a very enjoyable read. I found myself smiling a lot at Edeen and Lachlan's interactions and found them entertaining and a sweet match. The story had a good plot and I was happy with how the story ended. I would highly recommend this to those who enjoy a good wolf story, and it was refreshing to find one that did not revolve around an Alpha wolf. This is just a thoroughly enjoyable wolf next-door story. I appreciate being able to read the ARC of this title for my honest review.
Nice holiday story! Eden Campbell moves next door to a castle full of wolf shifters. They are the McQuarries and her great uncle, EJ Campbell warned her they were bad news. She is also a wolf shifter as well. The McQuarries would like to purchase her manor house and property. She is wary of them because of what EJ said before he died. EJ Campbell was a recluse and grumpy, he never socialized with the McQuarries. No one knew why he felt that way. Lachlan McQuarrie is not so interested in the land next door as he is in their new young and attractive neighbor. She is a seamstress and makes beautiful highland costume dress and custom holiday dresses as well. Lachlan wants to invite her forChristmas dinner at the McQuarrie castle and try and earn her trust. Meanwhile, Eden is confronted by an unscrupulous cousin who is trying to take away her house. Lachlan is only interested in helping his beautiful neighbor and making sure she has a great Christmas.
I think what I liked so much about this one was that there was no drama between the couple. They met, there was a spark, they had to work through the bad things that Edeen heard about the MacQuarrie clan. That didn't take long as all her interactions with them were good ones, ones where they were helping her out. Lachlan never hid his feelings for Edeen or said anything bad about EJ, other than he didn't want to be friends with the clan, even though they tried.
The little bit of drama came from a relative, who thought he should have gotten the house Edeen bought. But even that was wrapped up quickly.
It was fun to see Edeen witness all that was the MacQuarrie clan and how welcoming everyone was to her. It gave her a place to belong and helped make her new house a home.
Loved to see how this one ended, a big party, with an announcement everyone welcomed.
Ahhhhh this was such a nice read 😭 it's a Christmas-y, super wholesome, newly neighbors/fated mates, wolf-shifter romance, with a heavy dose of found family as well <3
Please, the romance in this book was so swoony 😭 they were so mesmerised by each other, I was screaming. There's also a subplot of issues of house ownership / sabotage and reveals of past secrets, which was also done really well!
This is a wonderful wolf romance just in time for the holiday season. When Edeen purchases a house, the prior owner warns her about the horrible neighbors who want her land. The first day she moves in, she meets them, but they're not what she expected. Lachlan is one of the neighbors who comes over to fetch their dog that got loose and marked Edeens door. He's immediately smitten and what follows kept me engaging throughout the book.
If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. I quickly found myself immersed in the wolf world of Scotland and wanting the characters to get their HEA ending. Put this one at the top of your holiday reading list. The author is on my must read authors' list.
I love a holiday romance and I love a paranormal romance. The two combined can only be magical. When two wolf shifters meet as new neighbors and develop a friendship that leads to more it brings fun and hope to the season. Reading about cooler weather and hearty foods made me envious.
This book was an extremely hard read. I could feel my brain trying to do anything else. There is a lot of back story about characters right of the bat that we know amd don't care about. As a northern Irish born UK citizen it was super strange. Especially the Scottish main character being surprised by what he didn't ware beneath the kilt. It was extremely repetitive Especially the multiple dog shit scenes and playing snow. I am firm believer in plot. It felt like 90% of the book was eating, drinking extremely monotonous diolog and underwhelming subplot. The majority of the plot happens at the end of the book. It had a pretty decent concept but was drawn out painfully. It didn't help that a lot of the names where in Gaelic and misspelled which made it that much more annoying to find the pronunciation of. A little less if an issue is the version I purchased had inproper spacing, sentinces smooshed together and seemed completely unedited.

I enjoyed reading this book. The plot was fairly straightforward, nothing complex, but a good read nonetheless. The characters were relatable and likeable and the villain made sense. All in all a good read.
Edeen Campbell is moving into her new home in the Scottish Highlands just in time for the holidays. She is excited to start on this new adventure, but is wary of her new neighbors. After getting repeated warnings from the previous owner that they were a nuisance, Edeen was ready to be polite but ignore them. She soon finds out, however, that her neighbors are exactly the type of wolves she always wanted to be friends with. Especially Lachlan. The more Edeen gets to know him the more she can’t help but wonder, can Christmas wishes really come true?
On paper, this sounds like it could be a cute story. Neighbor enemies turned lovers, paranormal wolf shifting, Christmas feels. But oh man was it capital B, Bad. The plot was so weak- there was no intrigue, nothing compelling to keep me wanting to read. The romance was worse than a date in middle school and it was so weak I didn’t believe it at all. And don’t get me started on the writing. One of my biggest reading pet peeves is when an author writes like her audience is a bunch of simpletons. “She said this, and he said that, and she was glad he said that because she was thinking about doing this, and he was looking forward to doing that thing with her because he just loved her so much, and she was glad he loved her so much because she just loved him so much”. UGH. And the laundry listing of everything- “the table had this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this, and this on it and it smelled good”. Why not just say “the table had an abundance of delicious smelling food”. It was all filler to make up for a story that basically had no point and a romance that was like tepid water.
If you’ve read all the other books in this series then I’m assuming you’ll like this one? But if you haven’t read any before, I wouldn’t waste precious reading time on it. I am so sorry to say ☹
As always, even though I didn’t enjoy this one, I am forever appreciative for the ARCs I get. Big thanks to Sourcebooks publishing. This book comes out October 10, 2023.
Edeen has just moved into her new house when a huge dog shows up and enticed her 2 smaller dogs to chase him. They end up going over to the castle where she had been told the difficult neighbors lived. Lachlan was practicing fighting with his brothers and the rest of his lack when this sexy wolf shows up claiming that a giant dog from here had lured her dogs astray! That was all it took to pique his interest, especially when he finds proof that one of their male dogs was over there! Then came a guy named Michael claiming that her new house was really his. Now Lachlan and his pack will do what they can to help this new neighbor! But will it be enough, or will she lose her new house just when it is starting to feel like home?
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes but not a lot of details for the most part. There is some action as well, but not as much as in other wolf books! The characters are vibrant and endearing, especially all of the animals! I love the books the Terry Spear wires and anxiously await each new one. Read the Highland Wolf series in order to get the most out of this one, but then there are a ton of other series, some of which overlap. I have to keep track of them all in paper to keep them fully in order. By my count this is #40 of the general Heart of the Wolf series, as well as #7 of this side series! But keep in mind that the Jaguar series intertwined with the Wolf ones as well!
What's better than a handsome, well-built man in a kilt? When said man is a sexy wolf shifter and is going commando under said kilt which gives our heroine a great view when the wind whips up! I discovered after reading this book that it is part of a series and I will say that I enjoyed the book thoroughly even though I had not read the series, but I will definitely be going back to start with book one and read all the way through! This book was full of romance, laughter and holiday spirit! The book also has a bit of intrigue when someone pops up claiming to be the rightful owner of our heroine's house and tries to run her off the property. Fortunately, our heroine is no helpless damsel in distress and her personality shines through in all interactions! This was a fun holiday read, but even better it has led me to an entirely new to me series to binge!!

3.75/5 I enjoyed the two protagonists. The romance of the two was decent and it was not bogged down by lengthy bedroom descriptions. I do feel the plot was weak. It wasn't bad, but there was not a lot of conflict and the conflict itself was resolved fairly simply with little actual action involved. Basically I felt the story was more of the quick romance in the day to day lives of the two main characters. I personally prefer more action and conflict in a story and this is reflected in my rating but if you are reading more for the romantic elements in the story this may be right up your alley.
From page one you could feel the warmth and love and it continued throughout the storyline.
A wonderful warm-hearted tender romance with some spicy moments, fantastic characters old and new with a twist!
The plot and the animals will have you giggling with the fun of it all and the witty moments will make you laugh.
I loved the way Lachlan and Edeen met and how Hercules had a hand in it. The attraction was instant and their love story with their HEA will make your heart sing.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is one of my favorites. The Highland Wolves are so much fun to read and this one is no exception. The book's well-written with well-rounded characters. Full of romance, suspense, and holiday fun, this fantastic story drew me in and kept me hooked from beginning to end. I love Terry Spear's books as she's an excellent storyteller. I highly recommend both book and series which I think is best read in order although the books could be read on their own if you wish.
I thought that this was a good story and it was an enjoyable read – romantic and sexy
The storyline was strong and there was good attention to detail in the main, but at times it was a little over explained and could have been a tad punchier to keep the plot focussed and I think that could put people off, but do carry on reading – the book is definitely worth it.
There was plenty going on and it did keep me entertained and the writing style made the book an addictive read.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!
I got about 70 pages in before quitting this book and I was really bummed about it. I thought the characters were so fun. I love the animals that both characters have. I even thought the plot was a good time. I just couldn't do the writing. At all. I am kinda picky about writing and it can hinder my enjoyment of a story but I usually can push through anyways. I tried but in the end I just couldn't. I think this book can be a great read if the writing works for you. I would say try reading a sample before you commit and if the writing doesn't bother you then give this a try.
I didn’t realize this was part of a series, but don’t think you’d need to actually read the other books in order to follow along with the story. Lachlan and Edeen are wonderful characters and the story line is good. But the writing was a bit stilted and didn’t flow properly. Lines were repeated in different ways stating the same thing. It just didn’t flow as well as I’d hoped it would, otherwise this would’ve been a 4 star review. But I always encourage others to read for themselves and make up their own minds. Happy reading 😁
Terry Spear has written what has to be my favorite book yet! I adore her holiday novels and have been reading them for the past few years. This one is set in Scotland and centers on the perfectly matched couple, Eden and Lachlan. We follow them as their relationship grows through Scottish Christmas celebrations and the quaint village near the manor house that Edeen has just moved into and the castle next door. I found myself smiling my way through each chapter. This book genuinely made me happy. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a holiday novel with the twist of them being wolf shifters. I will put this in my small pile of books to read next Christmas!

I love a good buffet of genres and this one had several. Yummy! I was never into werewolf romance before, but the setting and strong pack instincts sold me. The hero was well rounded and adorable and heroine rang true with a relatable job. They weren’t super sized alpha anything’s. I’d like to see more of this clan. Read my full review at
I have mixed feelings about this book. To begin with it's not my normal genre. That being said I didn't hate the book. The story itself was good and was a cute holiday romance. I enjoyed the plot and the buildup was steady paced without being too quick. What I didn't like was the dialogue. I felt there was too much of it and that a lot of times it dragged on unnecessarily. Overall, while not my normal pick it was still a good read.
I found this a fun and entertaining book. The wolf pack were a great bunch of characters and the Scottish, festive setting made me long for the Christmas season! There is lots of humour and heat despite the slow burn romance. It’s a good choice when you need to switch off and unwind with some lighthearted escapism.
4.5 Stars A lovely shifter contemporary romance set in the Scottish Highlands, this novel is part of a fun series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I've read several of this author's works, and they all have a HEA ending. A perfect supernatural romance read for the wintery season, this book is lighthearted and pleasant. Some steamy scenes included.
Wolves for the holidays! Fun holiday romance with a bit more substance than most. Engaging characters, a few subplots, and a slow burn keep the story moving through the holidays and over varied obstacles. Best part, their numerous dogs are a main part of the story and add to the charm. Wolves and dogs and holidays, can't go wrong. A fun read.
