These are my mother's recollections of the Shoah (Holocaust). Growing up Jewish in a small Polish town near the German border, my mother and one sister were all that survived from among her parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, husband and young daughter. Persecuted and hunted by the Germans. Hiding with friendly Poles. Imprisoned in the Warsaw ghetto, labor camps and Auschwitz. This is the story of how many of them died and how my mother struggled to survive.
This one is a lot like the Nonna Banner story but with different people. It also shows a different perspective and her story is different because she was Polish. It's amazing how similar yet so different the experiences can be. I love these kind of books. I think we owe it to the victims of the Holocaust to publish their stories and tell them.
Written by someone not trained to write. A recounting of events told from the heart.
Told more from a factual perspective than an emotional perspective. Thank you for sharing your mother's story. God bless every survivor that put to pen and paper their memoirs.
I thought this book was well written and very informative! It's amazing how these survivors survived. I think it's wonderful how this author had the courage to tell her story.
A heartbreaking story of survival. Written in the honest open words of the amazing woman who lived it. It’s a tragic story but also speaks to the strength and basic decency of humanity. I would recommend this book to anyone.

It's another account that i have read that is unbelievable to me that could even happen and amazing to me how these unfortunate people even survived. The inhumanity and brutality that they endured is astonishing. I feel there is no way to give justice to the Jewish community. What they suffered and lost, physically and mentally is overwhelming. Nothing can help someone who endured what they endured just trying to survive. What can someone be given to replace their souls that were so brutally stripped away from them. There is nothing that can be given to them that will replace their dignity and spirit that was stolen from them from a barbaric German distorted mentality. It's sad to read these stories knowing someone is having to relive the hell they went through and the inhumane experiences they had to live through. There is no justice that can be given to them.
I really enjoyed this book. I found it heart wrenching and inspiring at the same time. She survived so much and yet kept her faith even when many had lost it. I found many of the moments, like with most books about WWII and the Holocaust, haunting. Especially the moment in the ghetto with the crying baby. That shook me. It was great to hear her story of survival. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about the experiences of the survivors of the Holocaust and WWII. Anyone over 16/18, that is.
An amazing story! If you like to read about the hardships the Jewish people had to endure during one of the world's saddest times in history this book is for you. It had me in tears but also the ending had me jumping for joy. I would have liked to have read how these people the Lord's chosen have been doing since their tragedy, how many children they had and where their experiences have lead them to regarding how they have lived , worked ,travelled to since WWII
This is a well written story of a survivor of the Holocaust. It presents the story without any sensationalism and without many of the gory details that I have seen in other books. The fact that anyone who was Jewish survived the war was a miracle in itself. What surprised me the most was at the end of the war, she decided to walk home to check on family. How many of us today could do that. Or would we even try.
As a regular reader of holocaust memoirs, I found this to be one of the better ones I have read. Well-written and detailed, this memoir really exposed the struggle this woman experienced throughout her right to survive the horrors of the holocaust.
This was almost a day by day itinerary of one of the bravest women I have ever read about. How did she keep her faith while being hunted from city to city and from country to country, I will never know. This truly wonderful human being seemed to bring hope to all she met on her journey. I wish I could be more like her. Excellent uplifting read.
This book is an interesting account of a woman survivor of concentration camps and many other experiences she had. The issue is that she is telling it and it is then written by someone else so the writing is hard to follow sometimes and moves back and forth throughout the book.
This story was raw & emotional. The will to survive was strong among many Jews& with a little luck, the did. The story is appalling, yet I suspect the author glossed over many things she went through.
Most of the stories were similar to other Jewish Holocaust survivors but there were some new details, especially about the liberation, that I found out. It's worth reading as it's well written and very thorough.
Honest and matter of fact remembrance of Holocaust horror and survival. Vivid attention to date, time and place of events transports you back in time. Very good read!
The story is interesting but the narration is not. It was written as though it had been transcribed from an audio tape. I am glad I read this book but I won’t be looking for more by this author.
Another heart wrenching story of a woman's experience during the holocaust. She had a very unique journey and made it out the other side. You cannot help but truly admire her strength and courage to never give up.
I enjoyed this book for the way in which it described the struggle, the emotional and physical aspects of life as a Nazi prisoner. Thank you for this week through this window that was your life. I am saddened by the loss of so many members of your family.
The book was interesting. It’s hard to believe that the Holocaust could really happen, but it did. That is why I think this book should be required reading.
I read this book with sorrow and amazement. Well told, easy to read, very moving. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the holocaust or World War II.
A great documentary of a Jewish family living in Europe during the holocaust. Shocking and heart breaking. Only God could have helped someone survive the horror.
