It’s 1885—Luke isn’t looking for a wife, and Lizzy doesn’t want a husband. So how is it possible they are betrothed?
Johnathan Lucas Walker Ⅴ, Luke, to family and friends:
Luke inherits his family’s fourth-generation cattle ranch deep in the heart of the Texas panhandle. Duty-bound, he is left to raise his younger brother and sister. A formidable task, given his sister’s conniving disposition. Therefore, marriage is the last thing on his mind until he comes face-to-face with an unconventional, breathtakingly beautiful woman dressed only in a shift—the untamable Lizzy Brown. Lizzy intrigues him in a way no other woman has. But with his life already in turmoil, will he rise to the challenge of taming the untamable Lizzy Brown?
Elizabeth Brown, Lizzy, to her family and friends:
Lizzy considers herself progressive. She loves being a woman but dislikes everything about being a genteel southern lady. Rebellious by nature, Lizzy disregards proper etiquette and ignores Charleston’s judgmental gentry. To her way of thinking, things need to change, starting with her wearing men’s trousers. So when her father announces her betrothal to the handsome overbearing beastly brute, Johnathan Lucas Walker V, she stubbornly resists. She knows nothing about being a wife. She hasn’t even been kissed. Will Lizzy submit to her father’s wishes or forever be known as the untamable Lizzy Brown?

"The best high in life is to create stories readers can get lost in for a few hours."
Drama, humor, and a great cast of characters. This has to be one of the most interesting books I have ever read. First off it does not back away from the bits and some may say the naughty parts of being a human. It is woven into the story is such a brilliant way. Lizzy has to be one of the most outrages and lovable characters I have ever read. The gentlemen in her life are fantastic too. Susan Liberty is a new author for me but this will not be the last book of her I will read. Great job of writing and I highly recommend the book. The Untamable Lizzie Brown is a beautifully written and heartfelt historical romance set in the late 19th century in the genteel South and rugged West United States. I loved getting to know Lizzie and Luke; tagging along on their many adventures was thrilling. Another incredible novel by Susan Liberty.
A historical read taking place shortly after the Civil War covering the areas of Charleston, South Carolina and Denison, Texas. Lizzy Brown was a young woman raised by a single father with an adopted older brother, Todd. She was a kind person, willing to do anything for anyone even though, she was considered a blueblood. The aristocracy looked down on her for her actions and her dress as she usually dressed like a man or acted in some wildly inappropriate way. Luke Walker had came to Charleston from Denison, Texas to visit his father's brother, Harold where he was practically ran down upon his arrival by Lizzy on her horse late to an appointment. He was so taken by her beauty that he could not stop thinking about her. All he heard about the woman around town was noone would ever have her, because she was untameable. Harold and her father were friends with dinner already having been planned with him in town. He discovered the woman of his dreams was available, and her father was worried about her chances of ever marrying. Of course, Luke could not help himself. He piped up saying he would marry her. Thus, began the courtship by letter as Luke had to return to the ranch, before they could be married. Enjoy this unforgettable story as Luke and Lizzy get to know one another. Will Lizzy be tameable or will Luke even want to try? A smile worthy book for sure as she gains the respect of everyone, she meets as they head west toward the ranch. Even Luke's Indian cousin that gives her a proper Indian name. Highly recommend reading.

Luke came to visit his uncle and met this lady. Rlizabeth" Lizzy " Brown. This Lizzy was innocent, intelligent but daring/bold.
My attention was caught by the cover and was intrigued by the title. Thought the name was very appropriate for the heroine. Love the development of the story and their feelings. Loved that Luke was so decided and he accepted and guided than restrained Lizzy (though not accepted during their times).
Small angst but full of story. A very entertaining historical romance. (NOTE:Some mature scenes in the story).
