Despite this being listed as the last book of the series, the series is NOT COMPLETED
I do not think it's funny when an author indicates this is the last book of a series and lists the volume as book number four out of a total of four books only to leave it with a cliffhanger and indicate there's a fifth book that's not listed in the total so the series is not completed as you were led to believe. To make matters worse, she makes it clear that she's killing one of the Romantic leads in the final (?) book, and there's not even an estimated release date for the last book. Let me tell you chickadee I'm not impressed: bait and switch isn't funny to me, and I have walked away from series that took too long to release successive books or other authors that pulled tripe like this baiting readers to start a series that isn't finished by not listing the total number of books planned to finish the story/series and instead give a false impression of a completed series.
The kicker was when she laughed in her closing statement taunting about how she hadn't finished the story and we better have tissues for the next book -- I'm ticked it's not finished in this one like it's supposed to be. If this was some great piece of literature it might be worth the wait but there's so much recycling of plot devices (I think we're up to our 5th or 6th kidnapping of the same character) it's like the story keeps circling on itself and each book is so similar I don't think there needs to be a fifth book -- just finish the blasted story at this point or come up with something new besides having to kill off one of your male leads to make it different somehow. Oh, but wait, the author already went that direction once before, too.
There are too many other books and too many other authors out there to get hung up on one that plays games like this. I only ever start a series once it is completed, I never willingly start one I have to wait to see if it will ever be concluded, because there have been too many occasions when a series went unfinished or it took so many years for the final book to come out that I lost interest. So, I'm guessing lots of other readers are staying away from incomplete series and cliffhangers aren't getting as many readers until they're completed, so authors are starting to try and fake people out to get them to start an in-process series. I won't be fooled by this author again, and I won't be looking at anymore of her series because I can't trust that the total number listed on the web page is actually the number of books it'll take to complete the series, and I really resent being laughed at in the very closing statement because the author is so amused they successfully fooled me into thinking it was done when it's not. Like I said, I am not amused, nor am I entertained.
