Tour.
I love country antiques, vintage collectibles and ephemera. I'm an eclectic maximalist, collector and packrat. There are some pretty cool things in this book, but even for me, it leans pretty far towards too junky. I expected better, so two and a half stars.
This is one my favourite books. MRC has a great eye, and I pull this book (one of a few she has written like this) out every so often and wish I had a big 'ol barn like she does, to store her treasures.
What a fun book! You name it, if it belongs in a kitchen, or might have been used by a cook, its in this book. There are scores of pictures and photos which will inspire you to either decorate your own kitchen, or look thru your drawers, cabinets and pantries for similar items. The stories on many of the items are very interesting. I enjoy just the looking-this is an antique shop on paper and its always fun to see things that either you currently own or remember from your grandparents kitchen.
Giving it a quick look first, then I'll go back with post-its and mark pages and take notes. So far, it seems to be page after page of wonderful "junk" -- antiques, collectables, kitch, and all types of reused or repurposed things.
