I got my first ham radio license in 1992 and I'm now an Extra Class licensee. I've been thinking about becoming a ham radio instructor, so I checked out this book from the library. (The library only had this older edition of the book, not the latest edition.) I wanted to see what kind of material would be required to teach potential Technician class examinees today.

I really like Gordon's interesting and amusing writing style. I wish I had discovered his books before I tested for Novice class in 1992, then General and Extra later. His books probably would've saved me a lot of boredom and dozing off compared to the dry boring books that I studied. In addition to the test material, Gordon also includes a lot of memory aids, and tips that would be very useful in operating a ham radio, and even a full shack of radios.

This book also contained 2 CDs:

1. An audio CD of live ham radio transmissions of different modes and on different bands. I don't participate in all modes and bands so it was nice to be able to hear many of them here. I'm sure this would be good for a new ham.

2. A CD program that creates and administers practice exams of the actual test questions that will be used on the real test. This book's question pool was updated in 2014 though. Make sure you get the updated book that has the current question pool for this year. In case you're stuck with an older book like I was, the current question pool is available for download from the ARRL's website at
http://www.arrl.org/question-pools .

I took a practice test via the CD. This is a great way to practice with the actual questions, answers, and distractor answers.

I highly recommend the current updated edition of this book to any aspiring ham or ham radio instructor. This will definitely help you pass the Technician class exam without boring you to death. I'm going to check out Gordon's other books next.

Cannot give high enough praise for this great overview of questions that will be included in the test for your amateur radio technician class licence. I read this older version and supplemented it with a few of the many online study tools and apps that have the complete up to date set of questions. He provides just enough context about the questions to help you understand the concepts without bogging you down in the technical detail My 12 year old and I both passed the Technician test on 3/10/18!

We will definitely use Gordo's General Class study guide when we're ready to upgrade our licences to General!

This really helped me learn and now I'm passing my practice tests with 85 or better! Great book if you want to get your Tech license.
