Once Upon an Orc is the next or last book in the Return of the Horde Series. And It is this seventh feet tall bald orc who can SING's turn (Yes, he can. ) Surprisingly that singing part didn't make me cringe.
It is now Gathred's turn to have his happy every after! He is made to not feel any emotions but once he sets his eyes on his female, he's done for!
Very excited and thankful to have received an ARC before its release. And just like the rest of the book in the series, I devoured this, in one sitting. And definitely this took turn in a much more emotional side than the rest. We are not only told about fated mates but also a very heartwarming reunion with the whole clan and of course we get cameos of other leads in this book.
A short, safe yet fun and smutty read! I recommend it if you need some book for a lunch break!

Gathred is the lost brother of the Lakktra clan. He lost his memory bc of a head injury when the orcs returned to earth, and another clan took him and lied saying he was part of their family.
The clan he's in now invades a compound where orc drugs are manufactured and sold, and that's where he meets Aleena, the chemist and owner of the compound's daughter. He immediately identifies her as his mate and protects her from his clan and so their love story begins.
Didn't enjoy this one as much as the others idk why. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Still decent though.

I am sad that this is the end of the "Return of the Horde" series. I am going to miss these orc sweethearts and their mates! I am hoping Dani will write some more dual virgin, fated mates love stories.

His body awakens and he kills every threat to get to her. His love never wavers and he follows her all the way to an underground bunker, where they both are locked in and close proximity goodness ensues.
I loved these two, when Aleena tries to get to her father and sister she says something hurtful to Gathred, and my heart ached for him, I was upset that she said those hurtful things, even if she didn't mean it. Of course he never lets her get away from him, he is always close and she helps him figure out why he has bad headaches that are debilitating. Putting a comforting hand on his cheek she gives him love and support.
I enjoyed all the Orcs in this series, (Tigor is still my favorite of the four), and I am so sad it has come to an end. Here is hoping another orc series will come to be in future, or a paranormal romance series with cinnamon roll, gentle giant, fated mates heroes, who only give their body, mind and heart to one woman, their fated mate!....*crossing fingers*

Aleena and her father Erving were preparing to make some product that is highly addictive to Orcs. See after the Orcs came to their world everything changed. So in order to adapt they adapted too. Before they were going to sleep a clan of Orcs raided their home, Katya the younger sister was in another room, but not prepared to lock herself in if there was a raid. Anyways, Gathraid and his Uncle storm in with another, but he gets side tracked when he smiles an enticing smell. It’s coming from the older blonde human woman. Aleena and her father are separated. In order to get to safety she must flee then come back for her father and sister. Or they will find her. But Gatharid stops his uncle from hurting her. When they jump out of the house they are trapped in an abandon bunker. They stayed in the bunker for one night and discover they are fated mates. Gathraid reckoned this when he smelled her. He wants to be by her, protect her and feed her. Will she accept? Will she get to her father and sister in time? Or will the raid orc clan kill then?

Definitely worth the wait to finally get it! I am loving this series. I think the best thing was the way the orcs were portrayed, kind of showing the dichotomy of the old Orc ways meshed with modern human actions....like they fought with axes and swords... But they could drive trucks and do chemistry. The true mating thing was spectacular with knots and glowing bits and all. Aleena, though, her characterization was confusing to me at first. She was a fighter/protector, tough, her father’s second in command maybe? But her sister was the coddled Princess almost locked in a tower, completely protected at all times. I didn't feel the father’s emotional connection to Aleena in the reading. It just didn't vibe, and that was my only criticism of the book. I loved the mystery that was Gathred, and the way the mate bond changed his whole trajectory...well everyone's really. I'm new to this author, but I'm really digging the way her mind works!

Esta historia fue rápida y muy ardiente, con muchas escenas de sexo. Sin embargo, también se aludió mucho a la familia, es más, la familia Orco al final se completó y todos están juntos ʚ♡ɞ; no obstante, esta historia no me convenció tanto como las anteriores, creo que le falto algo más de magia o no sé… pero algo faltó para mi gusto.

I needed a break to recollect my heart and mind after reading iron flame, so a reread of my comfort orcs was a must.
Once upon an orc is the final instalment in the return of the horde series, this book features some incredible world building, a cute matebond, forced proximity, and of course glowing, knotted orc 🐓

I really like this series. I think orc's are super popular right now but I think this series is a fun twist with them being in the modern world. I like the fated mates and how Aleena and Gathred for all purposes should be enemies These two getting trapped in a bunker really nailed the forced proximity trope. I loved how strong Aleena was, making her the perfect match for an orc warrior. Great read.

If you love monsters, instalove, fated mates, and sexy times this is for you. The return of the horde series has all your smutty monster needs. From the creative anatomy of the orcs, with double the fun, to the fact that they literally glow when there lady is fertile. It's a wild ride, but a quick fun smutty read.

I love that Gathred essentially turned his back on who he believes in his family to protect his newly found mate and eventually her family. I also like that Aleena was able to help him find his real family again. I also like the daddy trope was switched up and it was papa, we need a little variety.

Beautiful and with so much angst

This was good - I’ve never really read anything like it. It was more story than just human and nonhuman so I liked the whole extra plot to it. Some spice and a HEA.

Gathered and Aleena finally comes together after all the difficulties. True love brings them together and there couldn't be more fitting end to this phenomenal series.

I really enjoyed Aleena and Gathred's story! As soon as Gathred met Aleena he would do anything to protect her. It was amazing when Gathred found his real family.
