Edith, the seventh installment in The Switchboard Sisterhood series written by multiple authors, is a fun and entertaining historical romance novella. The smoothly flowing, steadily paced plot kept my interest from beginning to end. Headlining the engaging cast of characters is independent, determined heroine Junior Detective Edith Parker and handsome, admirable hero Donavan Logan. Detailed descriptions of the 1920s setting and fashions bring the story to life. Bits of humor and sweet romance made me smile. I appreciate the strong faith element conveying truths about God’s care and direction. If you are looking for a quick, satisfying historical romance, try this one. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Loved Edith and Donavan's story! Edith wants to travel, so decides to join a detective agency. She also hopes to one day ask her new boss to find her missing mom and sister. Edith is sent to Alaska for her first job as a junior detective. She's tasked with finding four men who haven't been heard from since they arrived. She'll be looking for them when she's not working as a switchboard operator. Edith has put her Christian faith behind her, as she feels that God mustn't care for her since her family was split apart. However, once she realizes just how much God does care from things that happen to her, she decides she was wrong, and He can be trusted. I love the story of her return to God!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
I absolutely loved this book. In her outstanding style this Author has woven a fun and entertaining story. Her attention to detail is always present in her work. Portions of this book had me downright laughing out loud and then there are the tender moments as well. The story of Edith and Donavan will keep you reading. Donavon arrived in Alaska with 3 friends, two of whom have gone missing according to their parents. Edith is undercover as a Detective (on her first case no less) searching for any clues regarding their disappearance. The mystery will keep you on your toes. Get a copy today and enjoy!
I loved this sweet story. Edith takes a job as a junior detective to find a man believed to be in Alaska. She is given a job as a switchboard operator as a cover. The story is delightful. The characters are so fun. And I loved how the author wove in Christian inspiration. Actually the man Edith is searching for is involved in ministry. It's a great read and very enjoyable. I did receive a copy of the book from the author, but this review is my own opinion.
This was such a fun read! I loved the timeline of the story and that it takes place in Alaska. The switchboard and the flapper girls is a great piece of the period and were great to read about. A light, easy read with an investigation that isn't full of gore but instead of God. Witty and funny parts of the story had me chuckling. Inspirational, along with romance, this story was a delight. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
An original story set in Anchorage, which is an unique setting. I loved reading this story because of the strong characters and great plot. This story included mystery and romance in just the right portions. It’s a perfect story for those who enjoy Christian romance fiction. I received a copy of this book and all opinions are mine.
Edith's story is so fun and engaging. I love how the characters intermingle and add to the story and this seems like a wonderful introduction to the Switchboard Sisterhood series. I love the fashion, the scenery, and the characters that are described so vividly and Edith's story makes me want to read the rest of the series.
Edith takes a job as a junior detective and goes to Alaska to do some research on some missing men. She needs to work at the local phone company as a switchboard operator while undercover. Donavan came to Alaska with a group of men in the hopes of setting up a mission and doing some ventures together. This was a sweet historical romance about finding the truth, having faith and finding love.
This has proven to be a fun series and Lisa M. Prysock has added a new twist. Edith is using her switchboard job to be undercover trying to find Donavan Logan and his three friends. Oh how fast rumors and speculation has spread regarding their “disappearance”. For a newbie, Edith proves to be a thorough investigator, but she really wasn’t very good at surveillance, at least not without being seen. I enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed the premise of this story with its strong Christian message. I liked the characters, but especially enjoyed the scrapes Edith got herself into with her sleuthing as she tried to figure out if she was dealing with a colD hearted killer or an innocent man. As for her wardrobe the author described, I would have loved to at least tried it on....
Edith was sent to Anchorage to work at the phone company and undercover as a junior detective to solve a possible murder case. Little did she know she would fall in love with the main suspect!
I loved that the Gospel message was so clearly given in the story 💞🙏🏼
A good story on the surface, Nice conflict between the need to be genuine in relationship requiring honesty and the subterfuge needed for detective work. Too much concern about clothes. Romantic involvement seems to proceed too rapidly to conclusion after only a few dates.
Wonderful addition to the Switchboard Sisterhood series. Beautiful descriptions of scenery and clothing make it easy to picture the characters and their surroundings. A story of sweet romance and sharing of faith. Excellent read.
I enjoyed reading about Edith and her chance to work under over as a switchboard in Alaska. Definitely some humor and some really sweet moments. I like the way the story unfolds and the mystery to solve adds another layer that kept my interest.
I enjoyed reading this story mostly except for the suddenness of Edith's come to Jesus moment halfway through the story was disconcerting especially in the lead up to an investigative moment stopped the great flow of the story.
She's in town as a detective, and he's the guy she's investigating. He's a strong Christian, and her faith is strengthened during the story. They are attracted to each other, but she's keeping secrets.
"Edith" by Lisa Prysock, was a most enjoyable book to read. Filled with adventure, travel, mystery, and romance, this Christian novella will keep the reader entertained throughout the book.
What a great story! I enjoyed the characters as well as the descriptions and attention to detail. The author kept my attention throughout the entire novella.
Newly-minted Junior Detective Edith Parker goes to Anchorage, Alaska to locate Donavan Logan and three of his friends who have gone missing. Working undercover as a switchboard operator, she finds Donavan alive and well and quite attractive.
