This book fits into the Books that teach you about another time
It is about the wild west around the time of the American civil war. The main protagonist is a boy who is about 16 years old. He was separated from his parents as they were sent to Australia and stowed away on a ship that was going to America! He ends up on a ranch in Missouri just as war breaks out. He the goes with the ranch owners to sell stock.

This book is great because it offers an insight into the world of the wild west, as this quote shows
this is the west. we do what we have to.
I liked the way the action was described and the plot was well thought out.

The most unusual part of this book i found was when the boy ran away and was living on his now trying to get the cattle back to his barn. This isn't really a common happening in a big city like Auckland .

I reckon I would recommend this book to other people because its unusual and different something new, different culture and everything over all it 'twas a good read and yeah I recommend to anyone.
