This is the kind of book you can open any time you'd like and find something interesting. It doesn't matter how old you are. I also really like all of the legitimate information in this book, despite it being a work a fiction. The information about some deadly plants always associated with magic is dead on, and presented in a fantastic way. You could spend hours pulling out the cards and opening the flaps and looming through the star charts. It's so much fun!

An intriguing book for those interested in magic. It is mostly written in first person by an aging master wandmaker named Coralis, and includes tidbits on types of wands, harnessing the power of nature, and examples of infamous historical figures. The book also includes a movable compartment containing a wand, vials of colored sand, and feathers.

4.5 stars. What a gem of a book. Intricately crafted handbook from a fantasy world that stems from our own. Very fun and imaginative read.

continuous work in progress as i've read this and consulted it many times over, but I will pick it up again on this special night add its Walpurgis and I know the veil is thin if not lifted betwixt the living and the dead tonight. be careful of what you wish, for tonight is the night your wish may come true. blessed be.

I'm too old for this but a child who likes Harry Potter or wizards in general would enjoy it very much. It really isn't suited to be a library book, which is how I encountered it. The copy I received was missing most of the parts that came with the book originally. This puts a real damper on enjoying it!

This is such an awesome book. With many little flaps, envelopes and fold out pages on wands and wizardry. I especially love that they give you your own wand and little stuff to put with the wand to make it as "magical" as you want.
